Pursuing My Rejected Luna novel Skye Chapter 94

Chapter 94

Skye

The Woolf estate appears through the trees like something from a fairy tale. A massive stone manor, manicured grounds that stretch as far as I can see. All surrounded by fountains and carefully trimmed hedges that draw the eye without even trying.

And security everywhere.

We pass the first checkpoint at the border of Woolf territory-guards who wave Nicolai through but clearly take note of the unfamiliar passenger. Then a second checkpoint at the estate gates. More guards. Cameras I can see and probably dozens I can’t.

A third checkpoint at the main driveway.

“Is all this really necessary?” I ask.

Nicolai glances at me. “For what’s coming? Yes. The people who attacked you won’t try again if they know what’s waiting for them here.”

The certainty in his voice should be reassuring. Instead, it reminds me just how dangerous my situation really is.

The driveway alone is longer than some pack territories. We wind through perfectly landscaped grounds -more gardens, a pond with swans, what looks like a private training facility in the distance. And then the manor itself comes into view.

Three stories of stone and glass. Gothic architecture mixed with modern touches. It’s beautiful and imposing in equal measure.

“This is… massive,” I say quietly.

“It’s home,” Nicolai says simply, and I’m reminded that although we’re both children of Alphas, we’ve led very different lives.

The car stops in front of the main entrance, and Nicolai is out and opening my door before I can reach for the handle myself. He offers his hand to help me out-careful, gentle, aware of my pregnant belly.

“Welcome to Woolf territory,” he says proudly. “You’re safe here.”

I look around, taking in the scope of his world. Guards positioned strategically around the grounds. Staff appearing out of nowhere to handle luggage. The sheer wealth on display.

Dimitri is already directing people with my belongings, and I realize there are actual employees here. This isn’t just a pack house. It’s an estate. With staff. Security. Resources I can’t even begin to comprehend.

“Come on,” Nicolai says gently. “Let me show you inside.”

The interior is just as impressive as the exterior. High ceilings. Original artwork on the walls. Furniture that looks expensive and comfortable. I’m definitely out of my element here.

But Nicolai doesn’t linger on the first floor. He leads me up a grand staircase to the second floor, then down a hallway to the west wing.

“This is yours,” he says, opening a door.

I step inside and stop. It’s not a room. It’s a suite. A large bedroom with a massive bed and sitting area. French doors leading to a private balcony. A bathroom that’s bigger than my childhood bedroom. A small office space with a desk and bookshelves.

“Bedroom, sitting room, private bathroom, small office if you need it,” Nicolai explains. He moves to the door, shows me the lock. “The doors lock from the inside-your privacy, your choice who enters.

He pulls out a key and hands it to me.

“I’m in the east wing if you need anything. Dimitri is on the second floor in the main house. But this space is completely yours”

I stare at the key in my hand. My own space. My own privacy My own control over who enters.

“I heard that,” Nicolai calls from across the room.

“You were meant to,” Dimitri replies without missing a beat.

Their teasing familiarity is the last thing I expected from a man of Nicolai’s reputation. I catch myself grinning at the playful banter between them

I also meet a few other pack members who help run the estate. Rena, who manages the household staff. Mikhail, head of security. A few others whose names I try to commit to memory

Everyone is polite. Professional Welcoming without being invasive. Nobody asks about the pregnancy beyond “how are you feeling?” And nobody mentions the divorce or Jaxon or why I’m really here.

They just… accept me. It’s refreshing in a way I didn’t know I needed.

I could get used to this.
