Alexis had no idea what Victoria was up to, but he knew better than to question her. He agreed immediately. “No problem, whatever you say! As long as you keep the herbs coming my way and don’t sell to any other auction houses, we’re good!”
To Alexis, Victoria was his cash cow, no way he’d let that kind of profit slip into someone else’s hands.
Victoria smiled. “Relax. As long as you play fair, I’ll stick with you.”
Alexis hurried to reply, “Haha, who’d dare pull a fast one with you watching?”
“Oh, by the way, this Saturday is my engagement party with Jackson. You’re welcome to come celebrate with us,” Victoria said, graceful and poised, before she left.
Alexis felt honored and a bit overwhelmed. He nodded eagerly, “Absolutely! It’s truly a privilege to be invited by you, Miss Binder. I was worried you might not think I was worthy enough for an invitation.”
He knew Jackson’s engagement party was sure to be the talk of the town among Benwig City’s elite.
If he could mingle with more influential figures and get his face known, it would only help cement his reputation as the leading auction house owner in Benwig City.
“I’m off,” Victoria said.
“Safe travels, Miss Binder!” Alexis replied.
After Alexis escorted Victoria out of the auction house, he wasted no time and called Simon.
“Hey, Mr. Binder, didn’t you tell me to watch out for that mysterious female poison expert?” he said.
“Got news about her?” Simon’s voice came through the phone, sounding pretty fired up.
“Yeah. Today, she had someone deliver some super rare herbs to me, and said she’ll show up herself at the auction this weekend.”
“Thanks for the heads–up, Alexis! If you ever need a favor, just let me know.”
“You’re too kind, Mr. Binder!”
After hanging up, Alexis curled his lip in disdain. ‘Simon’s already pissed off\Victoria. He can barely keep himself afloat, and he’s talking about helping others? Please!
He put his phone away and immediately gave his staff a serious order. “Spread the word that we’ve got three more rare herbs in stock, and one of them will be up for auction this weekend.”
“Yes, boss!”
******
Simon was riding a wave of excitement after hanging up. At last, there was a real chance the poison in his body could finally
be cured.
“This weekend!‘ Simon thought. ‘It’s all going down this weekend!‘
If that poison expert could really pull it off, Simon would jump through any hoops, no matter what crazy demands she made because only then could he finally shake off Victoria for good.

Once that threat was gone, Simon could finally focus on dealing with Victoria’s constant moves against his family without any distractions.
She’d already grabbed 30% of Brightstar Entertainment’s shares. He’d make sure she wouldn’t get her way with the rest.
Goldenwood Villa.
As soon as Victoria walked in after coming back from the auction house, she heard Daisy’s voice calling out from inside.
“Victoria, you’re back? Grandpa had Milton come ask your dad and me for the guest list for the engagement party this Saturday. I’m just inviting my side of the family, and your dad’s inviting his close friends and business partners. What about you? Are you planning to invite all the neighbors from the village?”
Victoria walked over and took the empty spot next to Daisy on the couch. “Just give your lists to Grandpa first. I’ll finish my guest list tonight and send it directly to Jack.”
“Alright,” Daisy nodded. “If any of neighbors from the village can’t make it, your dad and I can send someone to pick them up.”
Victoria smiled. “No need to go to all that trouble. They all drive and will come if they’re available.”
After all, they’re all busy with their research work.
“Alright, just let us know if you need anything. Your dad and I will be there for you and make sure everything goes perfectly at your engagement party,” Daisy said, just as protective and supportive as she’d been at the welcome dinner.
ctor, sitting on the other side of the couch, said, “Lucky for us the Thornton family is hosting this time. With Curtis still ocked out in the hospital, I doubt your Darell and Julia will try to embarrass you again.”
learing her husband’s words, Daisy relaxed a little. “Yeah, they wouldn’t have the guts to cause trouble right in front of the Thornton family.”
“But…” Hector still had some concerns. “Some of the Thornton family might try to make a big deal out of Jack’s disability.
I be under some pressure, and you might get dragged into it too. Just be ready for that.”
her cool new father’s warning, Victoria felt a little thrill instead of fear. She was actually looking forward to it.
She loved nothing more than shutting down people who liked to kick others when they were down, especially those who came knocking just to stir up trouble.
If one came at her, she’d take them down. If two showed up, she’d handle them both without breaking a sweat.
Victoria’s eyes sparkled with mischief as she grinned. “Relax, Dad, Mom. It’s not like you haven’t seen how I handled things at the welcome dinner. Have you ever seen me lose my nerve? If anyone tries to give me trouble, I’ll give it right back.”
Seeing Victoria act so fearless, Daisy grinned, practically bursting with pride. “That’s right, my daughter’s got guts, so who knows who’ll chicken out first! Anyway, you just got out of the hospital, so finish up your guest list and get some rest. Saturday’s engagement party is gonna be another exhausting battle.”
She was practically glowing with pride, and her face was all soft and doting.
“Okay, I’m off to my room, then!” Victoria said with a grin.
After watching her head upstairs, Daisy turned to Hector and reminded him, “Make sure you push your dad to handle the shares quickly. Don’t let it drag on. I really don’t want anything messing up Victoria’s engagement party.”

Hector nodded. “I know.”

Back in her room, Victoria took a quick shower, then sat down at her desk to put together the guest list for her engagement party. She finished it in less than half an hour and sent it straight to Jackson.
[Jack, here’s the list of guests I want to invite to the engagement party.]
He replied almost instantly. [Got it. I’ll make sure everyone’s taken care of.]
In the hospital room.
After receiving the guest list from Victoria, Jackson took his time and read through it carefully.
The list only had the names of the people she wanted to invite.
However, several of the names looked oddly familiar to Jacksn. They shared the same names as some once–legendary figures in the city. It was just that those big shots were now quite old and had mostly retreated behind the scenes, so their names were rarely heard in the circle anymore.
He knew this couldn’t be a coincidence.
After all, Victoria even knew the Cooke family’s only son, Oliver. So it wasn’t surprising that she was connected to other big shots in Benwig City.
Victoria was a real mystery. She never showed all her cards.
Jackson wondered what surprises Victoria might bring to the engagement party this time. Maybe she’d steal the show even more than she did at the welcome dinner.
