‘I wouldn’t dare, Miss Victoria. I’m just telling it like it is and giving you a friendly reminder not to be too defiant,” the butler said, his words anything but polite.
Victoria understood immediately. ‘No wonder he’s Darell and Julia’s butler. He’s just as arrogant as they are!‘
She put on her gardening gloves again and walked straight up to the middle–aged man with gold–rimmed glasses.
The butler thought Victoria was finally coming to her senses, and a smug glint flashed in his eyes behind those gold–rimmed glasses. “Seems you do have some self–awareness, Miss Victoria…”
Before he could finish, Victoria raised her hand and slapped him hard across the face. His glasses flew several feet away.
‘So what if I think I’m above everyone else? You, a butler, dare to mouth off in front of a Binder family heiress? Do you really think I came back just to put up with attitude from hired help like you?”
Victoria deliberately took off her gloves. “Later, make sure you tell her exactly what happened. I’ve got time to work in the garden, not to see her. If she wants to meet me, she can come to Goldenwood Villa herself. If she wants to act all high and mighty in front of me, she better be up to it.”
With that, she tossed her gloves at the butler’s feet in disgust and warned, “And make the most of your time working for the Binder family, because you’ll be kicked out soon.”
The butler, still clutching his cheek after the slap, shot a venomous glare at Victoria’s back and muttered bitterly, “Just as I thought, you’re a wild, uncultured brat. Sooner or later, Mr. Binder will get sick of you and toss you out of the Binder family!”
I’m Mr. Darell and Ms. Julia’s butler. Does she really think she can just boot me out whenever she feels like it? What a cocky little blonde brat!‘ he seethed.

Back at Goldenwood Villa, Victoria walked right up to Daisy, who was relaxing on the couch with a face mask on, watching TV with Hector, and asked, “Mom, how are things between Aunt Sirena and our family?”
Honestly, Victoria already had a pretty good idea. If Sirena actually got along with Daisy and Hector, she would’ve shown up at the welcome party.
The reason she didn’t come was probably not just because she looked down on Victoria, but also because her relationship with Daisy and Hector wasn’t all that great either.
Daisy blinked behind her face mask, a bit surprised. “Why are you suddenly asking about Sirena?”
Victoria told her about what happened in the garden.
Hector’s face darkened as he listened. “Looks like Darell can’t even teach his people how to behave. Even the butler at Silverwood Villa thinks he can talk back to you!”
Daisy glanced at Hector, then said, “To be honest, the relationship isn’t great. Sirena doesn’t really respect your dad. She thinks he’s got no ambition, just a hopeless case. And since I couldn’t have kids and your dad wouldn’t divorce me, she’s even more disappointed in him. She’s much closer to Darell and Julia’s family, especially Angelica. Sirena’s put a lot of effort into helping Angelica succeed.”
Hector let out a couple of dry, helpless coughs.

Victoria understood right away. Sirena had married into the Clark family, another elite household, and she really knew how to shape Angelica into Benwig City’s top socialite. Thanks to her efforts, Angelica stood out to Gerry among all the rich girls. and managed to secure a marriage with Jackson.
Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned.
Looks like coming back to congratulate me is just an excuse. Sirena is really here to support Angelica‘ Victoria thought.
“Victoria, you handled it perfectly. If Sirena’s sneaking around your grandpa, your dad, and me just to talk to you alone, you can bet she’s up to something shady! If she really wants to congratulate you, let her come to Goldenwood Villa herself,” Daisy said, fully supporting Victoria.
“But after this, Sirena’s probably going to be even more pissed at you. If she gives you trouble, don’t try to take her on by yourself. Just let your grandpa, your dad, or me know,”
Victoria nodded, “Got it.”
Back in her room, Victoria washed her hands and then called Simon.
“What do you want?” Simon’s voice was tinged with impatience.
Victoria raised an eyebrow. “Simon, really? Is that how you talk to me now? Did you have a few drinks to get some guts tonight?”
“Just say what you want, or hang up,” Simon replied, not bothering to change his tone even after her jab.
Victoria arched her eyebrow even higher, letting his attitude slide for now. “Fire your butler.”
“Why?” Simon shot back.
‘Wow, he actually dared to question me, Victoria thought.
Simon was really showing some attitude tonight.
Victoria said bluntly, “That guy pissed me off, and I don’t want him anywhere near the Binder family. He needs to go.”
“Victoria, you’re meddling way too much!” Simon’s voice grew even colder.
“So, you’re not planning to follow my orders and fire him?” Victoria cut straight to the point. “Just answer me, are you firing him or not?”
Simon replied, “He’s been working for us for nearly ten years. It’s not that simple. I can’t just let him go because you say so!”
“Can’t you even bother to come up with a reason? Or are you just not going to try at all? Or are you seriously going to defy me over a butler?” Victoria fired off three questions in a row.
“I’m not doing it. If you really want him gone, figure it out yourself,” Simon shot back, his tone growing even firmer.
“So, are you planning to skip the antidote next week?” Victoria said, and it hit her why Simon was suddenly so bold tonight.
Simon was acting all tough tonight, probably because Alexis at the auction house told him he’d get to meet the poison specialist this weekend and finally get cured. No wonder he felt invincible.
Victoria couldn’t figure out why these people just couldn’t keep their cool.
None of them could hold it together. Whether it was Sibley or Simon, they all cracked so easily. They didn’t even have

everything under control, but their true colors were already showing.
Isn’t that just digging their own grave?‘ Victoria thought.

Simon said, “Victoria, I don’t buy that you’d actually poison me. Even if your poison is so good no one can trace it, if I really end up dead, it won’t just be my parents, Grandpa will be the first to point fingers at you. Even if you somehow slip past the law, you’ll never escape my parents‘ payback behind the scenes!”
With that, he hung up.
Listening to the busy tone, Victoria put her phone down. ‘Fine, let him keep feeling smug for a few days!
“The tougher he acts now, the more spineless he’ll be later
While she was still mulling things over, her phone lit up with a text from Gavin.
[Tomorrow’s your last chance! Victoria, this is a once–in–a–lifetime decision. Make sure you think it through!]
Victoria continued to ignore him.

these days. Once he got rid of the poison, he wouldn’t have to tiptoe around Victoria anymore. He could push back just like tonight.
The thought alone had him practically buzzing with excitement.
Just then, a knock on the office door pulled Simon out of his thoughts.
“Mr. Binder,” his assistant called from outside.
“Come in,” Simon responded immediately.
The door swung open and the assistant strode in, gently closing it behind him.
He walked up to the desk, took out a designer bag from his tote, and handed it to Simon with a respectful tone. “Mr. Binder, the thief you commissioned has delivered. This is the one you asked for.”
