sirena barked at Victoria, her tone fierce and full of anger. “What are you laughing at?”

Victoria’s lips curled into a faint, confident smile. “Aunt Sirena, your husband’s intel was spot on. Mr. Cooke really is coming back to Benwig City tomorrow. But I doubt he’ll actually get to meet him.”
Even though Sirena had married into the Clark family, one of the most powerful families in the country, her husband wasn’t he heir. He was just the second son.
And the second son of the Clark family didn’t have much say in family matters.
Calvin sat quietly to the side, his eyes fixed on Victoria with a deep, unreadable look. As he watched his granddaughter, he ondered silently, wondering what was really going on in her mind.
Sirena was seeing red. She shot back, “Who do you think you are, questioning my husband’s ability to handle things?”
For her, if anyone dared to look down on her husband, that was the one thing she absolutely couldn’t tolerate. People could nsult her all they wanted, but messing with her husband was crossing the line.
Victoria flashed a confident smile. “If you don’t believe me, just wait and see tomorrow. Let’s see if your husband can actually şet Mr. Cooke to meet with Uncle Darell. If he can, I’ll take your last name… Oh, wait, I already have your last name.”
sirena had enough of Victoria’s attitude. “Alright! If my husband manages to get Mr. Cooke to show up, you’ll have to kneel ind apologize for how disrespectful you’ve been today! And if Darell and the Cooke family seal the deal, don’t even think bout getting any shares from Binder Pharma Group!”
Daisy’s brows knitted in disapproval. “No way!”
She turned to Victoria, shaking her head firmly.
Mom, relax. I’m not that dumb,” Victoria said, flashing a confident grin. “If I lose, kneeling and apologizing to her is no >roblem. But if Uncle Darell pulls off a deal with the Cooke family, Grandpa has no reason to hand Binder Pharma Group over to Dad. I’m getting my shares, Grandpa promised them to me after the accident. I’m not losing, but rules are rules.” Sirena seized the moment. “Alright, she doesn’t have to give up her shares. But Dad, I want you to say it here. If my husband s the one who makes the connection and helps Binder Pharma Group land a deal with the Cooke family, shouldn’t you acknowledge that in some way?”
Calvin’s expression was grave as he replied, “If things turn out the way you say, I’ll give you and Darell 10% of Binder Pharma Group’s shares.”
Sirena finally looked satisfied. “Alright! It’s a deal!”
If they managed to strike a deal with the Cooke family and take back control, then aside from the 20% shares owed to Victoria and Sirena, the rest of Binder Pharma Group would basically be Darell’s for the taking.
“Dad, it’s been a while since I’ve been back. I’ll be staying a bit longer this time. Come on, let’s go get some fresh air,” Sirena said, suddenly switching to a gentle, caring tone as she stood up.
Before Calvin could say a word, Victoria cut in, her tone sharp. “Aunt Sirena, you’re all about what you stand to gain if you win, and what I have to lose if I don’t. Isn’t it a bit unfair? Shouldn’t you put something on the line too?*
Sirena blinked, caught off guard. “Me?”
“You barged in here today, throwing accusations and insults my way. If your husband can’t get Mr. Cooke to show up, you

shouldn’t get off scot–free, right?” Victoria shot back, her tone fierce and unyielding.
Sirena’s eyes darkened. “So what do you want?”

Victoria replied, her tone calm but unyielding, “My demand isn’t too much. Just fire the steward at Uncle Darell and Aunt Julia’s house, then kneel and formally apologize to me in front of the entire Binder family.”
Sirena stared at Victoria in disbelief. “Apologizing is one thing, but you actually expect me to kneel to you?”
Victoria nodded with a smirk. “Exactly, that’s fair, right? Or what, you don’t trust your husband to pull it off? Worried you’ll lose and have to kneel in front of everyone?”
Sirena clenched her jaw, barely keeping her temper in check. “Fine, I’ll take your bet. Not that it matters, because I’m not losing.”
Calvin didn’t object to this kind of bet. In fact, he actually welcomed it.
With some real competition, the Binder family would keep moving forward, instead of just resting on their laurels like
before.
Ever since Victoria came back, she’d really shaken things up. Calvin was certain that having her around to stir the only make the family stronger.

“Victoria, make sure you get everything ready for tomorrow’s engagement party,” he said. After giving his instructions, he stood up and left Goldenwood Villa with Milton supporting him.
“Alright, Grandpa, enjoy your walk!” Victoria called out.
Sirena gave a dismissive snort and trailed after Calvin.
Daisy said, “The Clark family and the Cooke family seem to be on pretty good terms. Victoria, are you really that sure Sirena’s husband won’t be able to arrange a meeting between Darell and Mr. Cooke?”
Victoria replied, “Of course, Mom. If you want proof, I’ll call Stephan right now. Watch me.”
Without hesitation, she pulled out her phone and dialed Stephan’s number.
After a moment, the call connected, and a middle–aged man’s voice came through.
“Victoria, hey! I didn’t expect you to call me out of the blue. What’s up? How’s life with the Binder family in Benwig City? Anyone messing with you? If they are, just say the word. I and the rest of people here are ready to storm over there tomorrow and raise hell for you!”
Daisy chuckled. ‘Man, are all the people from Mullinran Village this wild and outspoken?‘
Victoria smiled at Stephan’s familiar accent. “Stephan, that’s exactly why I’m calling. Just now, my aunt from the Binder family was trying to give me a hard time. She doubted I know you, and claimed her husband, the second son of the Clark family, is planning to arrange a meeting between you and my uncle tomorrow to discuss a partnership.”
“Oh, and by the way, my so–called uncle is actually my deadbeat dad. I don’t acknowledge him as my father anymore, so now he’s just my uncle.”
Stephan let out a scoff. “Tomorrow, we are coming for your engagement party. What kind of nonsense about business? Who does Mr. Clark think he is, trying to get me to do your deadbeat uncle a favor? Relax, Victoria. Tomorrow, I’m only showing up for you. No one else gets a meeting!”
Victoria grinned, pleased. “See you at the party tomorrow, Stephan.”

“Hold on, there’s something else. I’ve been swamped and didn’t get a chance to tell you,” Stephan said.
“What is it?” Victoria asked.

“A few days ago, someone was sneaking around Mullinran Village, acting all suspicious. It looked like they were trying to dig up dirt on your past. We managed to throw him off the trail, but who knows what else he might’ve found out.”
“Understood,” Victoria said calmly.
After hanging up, she arched her brow at Daisy. “Mom, you heard it yourself. Stephan’s not working with Uncle Darell.”
Daisy finally let out a sigh of relief, but then her expression turned serious. “Victoria, what really worries me is you. Mr. Cooke just mentioned someone’s been snooping around, trying to dig up your past.”
Victoria flashed a calm, confident smile. “Mom, I know exactly who’s digging into my past, and trust me, I’m already prepared to deal with whatever they throw at me.”
