When Victoria arrived at the hospital, she happened to run into Angelica again while waiting for the elevator. But this time, Julia and Sirena were with her.
The three of them walked over, their eyes all landing on Victoria, each with a different look in their eyes.
Julia was the first to break the silence. She turned to Sirena and asked, “Sirena, didn’t you see Victoria this morning? What do you think of her?”
Sirena shot Victoria a sideways glance and sneered without mercy, “Just like you said, Julia. She’s just a wild girl who thinks she’s better than everyone else, has no idea how the world works, and has absolutely no manners.”
She let out a cold snort, making it clear just how much she despised Victoria.
Seeing Julia and Sirena picking on Victoria, Angelica just stood quietly to the side, watching with a trace of smug satisfaction in her eyes.
Victoria lazily pulled a silver needle from her sleeve and started toying with it in her hand. “My hands are itching. Maybe I should try it out on a couple of pests.”
Julia froze, remembering how she’d been hit by Victoria’s needle before, and immediately clamped her mouth shut. Sirena was about to say something, but Julia tugged her sleeve and whispered, “Sirena, that wild girl is dangerous. If she sticks you with that needle, you’ll be foaming at the mouth and convulsing like you’re possessed.”
But Sirena just snorted. “She wouldn’t dare touch me! My husband would never let her get away with it!”
Victoria looked at Sirena. “Sirena, your husband is just the second son in the Clark family, not even the heir. He barely has any real power there, and you still want to act tough in front of me? If you really try anything with me, you’ll regret it before you know it.”
Sirena’s face darkened. “You really dare to say anything, huh? Don’t tell me you think you’re safe just because you’re engaged to Jackson. You’re busy sucking up to that disabled heir of the Thornton family. Do you seriously believe someone like him could ever inherit the Thornton family?”
“Sirena, mind your words. What do you mean by ‘sucking up? Just because you went through hell to snag the second son of the Clark family, you think everyone else is desperate like you? You clearly don’t get what a mutual relationship is,” Victoria shot back.
Sirena snapped, “Shut up! My husband was the one who pursued me!”
Victoria replied lazily, “Yeah, sure. He chased after you, and you never schemed or did anything at all.”
Sirena was visibly pissed off by Victoria’s attitude.
Victoria said, “Oh, and Jackson is definitely going to be the heir of the Thornton family, so that’s none of your business. You should worry about whether your husband can actually set up a meeting between Mr. Cooke and Uncle Darell tomorrow. If he can’t, you’ll be the one kneeling and apologizing to me.”
“Imagine, someone your age having to kneel and apologize to a junior like me, how humiliating would that be?”
Sirena was shaking with rage. “Just wait! You’ll be the one kneeling and apologizing!”
The elevator doors slid open, and Sirena was the first to step inside.

Victoria followed behind without a care. Once inside the elevator, she turned to Julia and asked, “Julia, did the doctor say there’s any hope Curtis will wake up?”
Julia was furious that Victoria would dare bring up her son’s condition right to her face. She gritted her teeth and snapped, “What’s it to you?”
Victoria glanced at Angelica, who was standing quietly to the side, and smiled. “Nothing, really. I was just thinking maybe I should do a good deed for once and check on Curtis. Who knows, maybe with my skills, I could actually help him wake up.”
Angelica’s face stiffened for a moment when she heard that.
But she quickly regained her composure. ‘So what if Curtis wakes up? The people I sent to investigate her have already been
taken care of.
Besides, she’d already injected Curtis with a special drug. There was no way he’d ever wake up.
Julia was taken aback, looking at Victoria, unsure how much of what she said was true.
“Let’s not even talk about whether you actually have that kind of skill. Would you really be so kind?”
“Of course, I’m not being generous. There’s a price,” Victoria replied. She noticed that when she mentioned being able to wake Curtis up, Angelica stiffened for a moment. It was obvious she didn’t want Curtis to wake up.
‘Interesting,‘ Victoria thought.
She kept a close eye on Angelica’s expression, then turned to Julia with a sly smile. “So, Aunt Julia, what do you think? Interested?”
Sirena cut in, “Julia, you seriously trust that wild girl?”
Julia finally snapped back to reality. ‘Victoria’s the one who put my son in this state. Why would she suddenly be so generous? Is her medical skill really that miraculous?‘
“This’s Benwig City’s top hospital, and Curtis is under the care of the best doctors around. Even the doctors said it’s all up to Curtis himself, Victoria has the nerve to claim she can bring him back?‘
“Don’t even think about scheming. I’m not falling for it!” Julia refused flatly.
“Whatever,” Victoria shrugged, completely indifferent. “Curtis isn’t my son, so whether he wakes up or not has nothing to do with me. I’m not losing any sleep over it.”
With that, the elevator doors slid open on the sixth floor, and Victoria stepped out.
After the elevator doors closed, Julia felt a twinge of hope stirring inside her.
‘If… she mused, uncertainty creeping in. ‘If Curtis really never wakes up, maybe I could let Victoria take a shot.
‘But who knows what kind of outrageous conditions Victoria would demand if I agreed?‘
As Victoria was about to reach Jackson’s hospital room, she ran into Cassian, who was just coming out.
His face was dark, and he looked like he could kill someone with just a glare, seriously intimidating.
Cassian turned and saw Victoria. He was momentarily stunned, but then the gloom on his face vanished, replaced by a

seemingly friendly smile. “Miss Binder, are you here to treat Jackson’s leg again?”

Victoria glanced at Cassian, who was holding a lunchbox. But it was obvious Jackson hadn’t accepted his “kindness, or else he wouldn’t have looked so pissed off just now.
She shot him a teasing smile. “Yeah, I am. But what about you? Are you here to get yourself rejected by Jackson again today?”
Cassian hadn’t expected Victoria to be so rude to him the very first time they met. His smile stiffened instantly.
He gave her a thoughtful look. “Guess Jackson’s been telling you a lot about the Thornton family.”
Obviously. We’re going to be married, so of course we share everything. I pretty much know all the players in your family, specially you and Sibley. I know exactly what went down between you two,” Victoria said.
Then she corrected herself, “Wait, scratch that. Sibley messed up and got kicked out by Gerry, so she’s not even one of you guys anymore.”
Cassian’s smile disappeared for good, and the friendliness was gone. A cold, murderous glint flashed in his eyes. “Looks like ackson really trusts you, Miss Binder. He tells you everything about the family.”
Victoria grinned. “Can’t help it. In Jackson’s eyes, I’m way more trustworthy than someone like Sibley, a traitor who bites the hand that feeds her.”
Cassian clenched the lunchbox in his hand, his jaw tightening at her open mockery. “Miss Binder, you always speak so directly. Aren’t you worried your sharp tongue will end up offending people?”
shrugged, completely unfazed. “If the only people I offend are your kind, what’s there to be afraid of?”
hat kind of person am I, then?” Cassian narrowed his eyes, his tone dangerously cold.
oria shot back without missing a beat, “A useless man.”
