Cassian had just been pissed off by Jackson, and now he was getting the cold shoulder from Victoria. The frustration he couldn’t vent was raging inside him.
“Say that again,” he growled, his voice barely squeezing through clenched teeth.
Seeing Cassian’s expression shift, Victoria didn’t back down. She smirked, even more cocky. “Is there really someone who wants to be called useless twice?”
After roasting him, she stared straight at Cassian, enunciating every word. “Alright, I’ll say it again. You, Cassian, are seriously useless. So even if I piss you off, I don’t give a damn.”
Jackson was her fiancé. As for someone like Cassian, who stabbed Jackson in the back, she wasn’t going to be nice to him.
Cassian clenched the lunchbox in his hand, his knuckles turning white..
‘As the heir of the Thornton family, how can I stand being insulted by some country bumpkin, just plucked from some backwater and made into a Binder family princess?‘
‘And to make matters worse, she’s the fiancée of Jackson, the person I most want to kill!‘
Cassian closed the distance, stopping just a couple feet from Victoria and leaning in, his presence looming.
“Victoria, I heard every word you said. There are too many eyes in the hospital today, so I’ll let you off for now. But tomorrow at the engagement party, you’d better watch yourself. Don’t let the ‘useless‘ guy you mocked get a shot at you.”
“Otherwise, you’ll end up even worse than Jackson. And trust me, it won’t just be your legs that get wrecked. Your fate will be a hundred times more miserable than his.”
Victoria blinked innocently. “I recorded that, you know.”
As soon as she said that, Cassian’s sinister look vanished, replaced by a pale face.
Victoria snickered. “Just messing with you.”
Cassian realized he’d been played, and his eyes flashed with anger.
After laughing her fill under Cassian’s murderous glare, Victoria finally straightened up, her face dripping with contempt. ‘With someone like you, it doesn’t even matter if I recorded you or not. Jackson won’t ever trust you again, anyway.”
‘If you want to come after me, go ahead. I’d love to see you try. You’re talking tough now, so don’t just chicken out and let me down when the time comes.”
With that, she sauntered past Cassian, not even bothering to look back.
Cassian stayed rooted to the spot, his knuckles white as he gripped the lunchbox. He swore he’d make someone pay for the humiliation he’d swallowed today.
Victoria is going to pay a heavy price for acting so high and mighty. No matter what.

Victoria had pissed Cassian off on purpose. She loved watching him lose his cool and start making threats of revenge.
She got a kick out of seeing these petty types get so worked up over her that they ended up digging their own grave, just so

they could get a taste of their own medicine.
Victoria knocked, twisted the handle, and walked casually into Jackson’s hospital room, carrying the lunchbox.
“Guess who I just bumped into in the hallway…”
She walked up to the bed, set the lunchbox down, and gave Jackson a bright, almost mischievous smile.
Jackson was lying in bed, flipping through some papers.

He looked up when he heard her, raising an eyebrow at Victoria’s animated expression. “Wow, running into Cassian got you this excited?”
“Yeah, I’m happy! I even had a little chat with him,” Victoria said, plopping down with a smug, cheerful grin.
“So what did you two talk about that made you so happy?” Jackson asked, his curiosity piqued. He had a feeling she was scheming something again.
Victoria pulled out her acupuncture kit and laid it out by the bed. “I called him useless man. He even asked me to say it again, so I did. Then he got all worked up and threatened to come after me at the engagement party tomorrow.”
She put on a dramatic shiver. “What am I going to do? I’m so scared, Jack. You have to protect me.”
Jackson almost choked on her performance, a mix of amusement and exasperation on his face. His eyes were full of affection. “I really do want to protect you, but I’m afraid you won’t even give me the chance.”
Victoria let out a dramatic sigh. “Yeah, what can I do? None of these guys can even put up a fight against me. They never stand a chance.”
She glanced at the papers Jackson had been reading. “What’s this?”
“The Sibley kidnapping case is all cleared up,” Jackson said, setting aside the report Ollie just brought him.
He looked down at his legs, the ones that nearly got ruined because of that whole thing, his eyes glinting with something cold. “Cassian and Sibley were behind it. As for Donald, he didn’t get directly involved. He probably just knew about it and went along with the plan.”
Victoria knew Cassian and Sibley were toast.
“Doesn’t matter if Cassian’s really my brother or not, teaming up with Sibley to screw me over with that kidnapping is where I draw the line,” Jackson said, his voice icy and ruthless.
“I’m not letting him off, but just how hard I go on him depends on what Ollie digs up. If he’s not my real brother, just some bastard Donald swapped in, I’ll break his legs and make sure his life is hell from now on.”
“But what if he really is your brother?” Victoria asked.
Jackson turned to look out the window. “My mom died because of him. She probably wouldn’t want me to utterly destroy my own brother. I’d find some deserted island, put him there, and make sure he never leaves. He’d spend the rest of his life there, just waiting for death.”
Living without freedom was a pretty fitting punishment.
“Looks like tomorrow’s engagement party is going to be even crazier,” Victoria said, grabbing a silver needle and sticking it into a spot near Jackson’s knee.

After storming out of the hospital, Cassian marched over to a trash can and slammed the lunchbox onto the ground, his anger boiling over.
The lunchbox broke apart, food and soup spilling all over the pavement.
Just then, his phone started ringing.
Cassian gave the lunchbox one last angry kick, then pulled out his phone and picked up.
“Did Jackson agree to give you that money?” Donald’s anxious voice came through the phone.
Cassian answered truthfully, “No, he said your reason wasn’t valid enough.”
Donald immediately started cursing. “That bastard! If we don’t get the money, Sibley won’t be able to keep getting treatment in the hospital! It’s not as bad as Jackson’s, and she can still walk, but she’s a girl, and she’s still young. We can’t just let her spend her life limping around, can we?”
“Dad, I know, I’m just as worried as you are…” Cassian suggested, “Why not have Sibley sell off all those luxury bags she bought? With so many, she could easily get over 3 hundred thousand dollars. They’re just sitting there, might as well put them to use.”
Donald sighed, sounding defeated. “Well, that’s all we can do for now.”
After hanging up, Cassian’s face was so stormy it looked like he was about to explode.
He got back in his car but didn’t start the engine. Instead, he sat in the driver’s seat, fighting to keep his temper in check.
Once he’d finally calmed down, he grabbed his phone and dialed Angelica.
The phone rang for a long time before Angelica finally picked up, her voice as gentle as ever. “Cassian, did you need
mething?”
“Let’s meet up and talk about how we’re going to mess with Victoria at the engagement party tomorrow. I bet you’re dying to get in on this,” Cassian said, and waited for her response.
After a pause, Angelica finally said, “Okay.”
