Victoria has been around poisons and medicine since she was little. Trying to drug her? That’s like bringing sand to the beach, just asking for disaster.

After cursing out Cassian, Gavin glanced down at the engagement party invitation in his hand. He was still going to show up tomorrow. He was going to walk in there and openly win Victoria over in front of everyone, and he’d even expose Cassian’s scheme to her.

‘She’ll be so touched, she’ll fall for me for sure,‘ Gavin thought to himself.

At Goldenwood Villa, the Binder family estate.

At eleven o’clock that night, Mara called.

“Boss, I’ve got the info. The person who was investigating you was sent by Curtis, but after digging into your past, they got murdered,” Mara reported.

“Murdered?” Victoria was shocked. She was certain none of the villagers had anything to do with it.

Who would want to deliberately block Curtis’s investigation?‘ Victoria wondered. But why stop him?‘

There’s only one explanation. Angelica. She’s afraid Curtis will discover she’d once hired someone to harm me.

Now this is getting interesting,‘ Victoria thought.

‘Do you know what Curtis’s man found out?” she asked.

‘Even though the guy Curtis sent is dead, I traced him back to a wilderness explorer he met before he died. Turns out, the explorer saw something freaky in the mountains.”

‘He saw a girl surrounded by poisonous snakes and insects. He thought she was in trouble, but when he got closer, he realized she was actually playing with them. Freaked out, he snapped a photo of the whole scene and bolted.”

‘Understood, Victoria said calmly.

After hanging up, Victoria played with Greenie, who was being all cute beside her.

Ever since she realized she was into medicine and poisons, Victoria spent a ton of time in the mountains, hanging out with snakes, bugs, and poisonous critters. She’d either keep them at home or let them watch over her herb garden.

One time, an adventurer hiking through the mountains accidentally spotted her messing around like it was nothing in the middle of a whole bunch of snakes and creepy crawlies. The guy got so freaked out that he ran for his life.

Victoria had no idea he’d actually snapped a photo of the whole scene.

If regular folks ever found out about this, they’d probably think it was downright creepy and totally unacceptable.

If Curtis had already gotten his hands on this so–called “dirt,” then Angelica and Simon probably knew about it too.

‘What are they planning to do with it at my engagement party?‘ Victoria wondered. ‘Are they just going to expose it?‘

Sure, it’d mess up her reputation a bit, but honestly, that’s hardly enough to ruin her for real.

Just then, her phone buzzed. Victoria glanced down at the screen, and saw Gavin’s message popping up, as usual.

[Victoria, I can’t believe you still wouldn’t go register our marriage with me today. You’re just as impossible as ever! But I’m not giving up. Tomorrow at your engagement party, I’m going to make sure it doesn’t go as planned!]

Victoria was stunned.

Gavin sent another message: [Tomorrow, you’ll finally see just how deep my love for you runs! Jack’s feelings for you don’t even come close to mine!]

Victoria just couldn’t deal with Gavin anymore. Honestly, ignoring him was probably her best option.

Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted Greenie pestering Blackie and Whitey as they tried to nap. Suddenly, a lightbulb went off in her head.

‘Simon had once sent someone to sneak into my room and steal something, so he was well aware there were snakes in there. He might try to make a fuss about this and use it against me.’

‘As for the engagement party, if he really wants to destroy me completely, of course he will use the most ruthless method.

‘Like, if any of the guests end up getting bitten by poisonous snakes or bugs, I’ll instantly become the number one suspect.

‘If Simon’s really bold enough to try that, then tomorrow’s engagement party is going to be a show worth watching, Victoria thought, a spark of excitement lighting up her eyes.

Meanwhile, at the Thornton family estate.

“Sir, Cassian’s been acting shady tonight. First, he secretly met up with Simon and Angelica, then headed over to the Fairbank residence to see Gavin,” Ollie reported, giving Jackson the full scoop on Cassian’s movements.

Jackson put the phone on speaker and set it on the nightstand. Then he picked up a ring box nearby and gently opened it. revealing a pair of couple’s rings inside.

The rings were crafted with a simple, understated elegance, no ornate embellishments, just delicate, natural patterns etched across their surfaces, reminiscent of blades of grass. They looked refreshingly simple yet undeniably graceful.

From the moment he first saw Victoria and heard her agree to return to the Binder family for their marriage, Jackson had been making preparations for their engagement and the wedding that would follow.

He looked forward to every tomorrow, eagerly moving closer to the day he and Victoria would finally be wed.

After admiring the rings for a while, Jackson closed the box and set it back on the table. He started pondering what Cassian was really up to tonight.

‘Meeting with Simon and Angelica makes sense. Cassian probably couldn’t swallow the humiliation Victoria gave him today and wanted to team up with them to plot against her. But what was Cassian doing going to see Gavin?

‘Is he trying to get Gavin to spill the beans about him and Victoria dating, just to make me look bad at the engagement party?‘

Just then, his phone rang.

Jackson glanced at the screen. It was Victoria calling. He picked up right away.

“Jack, I just wanted to give you a heads–up about something,” Victoria said, her voice light and cheerful.

Jackson’s lips curled into a faint smile. “What is it?”

“Things might get a little bloody at our engagement party tomorrow,” Victoria said.

“Going all out, huh?” Jackson raised an eyebrow. “But if you think it’s necessary, then do whatever you want.”

Victoria immediately laughed. “But don’t worry, with me around, no one’s dying at our engagement party.”

Her mysterious tone caught Jackson’s attention. “Actually, I just found out something that might be connected to you, too.”

“What is it?”

“Cassian met up with Simon and Angelica tonight,” Jackson said.

“Oh, really? Maybe we can handle both Simon and Cassian at the same time tomorrow,” Victoria replied. She filled Jackson in on her snake–and–bug skills and her theory. “I thought Simon would act himself, but turns out Cassian’s the one making moves.”

Jackson chuckled. “No worries. Since those two are teaming up, neither of them is getting away. I’ll have Ollie gather solid evidence to take Cassian down, just make sure Simon doesn’t cause any trouble on your end.”

“Okay!”

After hanging up, Jackson’s eyes flashed with a dark, unfathomable gleam. ‘Anyone who tries to sabotage my and Victoria’s engagement party tomorrow will have to face the consequences.

Victoria tossed her phone aside, flopped onto her bed, and started teasing Greenie with her fingers. “Tomorrow, you three better enjoy your game of hide–and–seek.”

Greenie gave a little nod, then wriggled over to Blackie and Whitey, tapping them with its tail until they finally nodded back, albeit a bit grumpily. Satisfied, Greenie slithered back to Victoria, curled around her finger, and looked up with those big eyes, clearly fishing for a compliment.

Victoria laughed, reaching out to gently pat Greenie’s cool little head. “You really are the cutest, Greenie. Alright, go get some rest. You’ll need your energy for tomorrow. I’ve got a big showdown to handle, too.”

Greenie immediately let go of her finger, slithered over to nestle between Blackie and Whitey, curled up into a little ball, and settled in for the night.
