Seeing Ollic blocking his way, and realizing he couldn’t get the better of Victoria, Pierre turned and dashed into the hall to complain to his father.
“Dad, did you see that? That country girl just kicked me!”
“Wipe the blood off first,” Felix said, motioning for the butler to hand Pierre some tissues to clean up his bloody nose.
Pierre took the tissues, glaring daggers at Victoria as he wiped his nose.
Ryan’s cold, steely gaze swept over Victoria before quickly shifting to Jackson, his voice heavy with authority. “Jackson, is this how you keep your fiancee and your assistant in check?”
Jackson met Ryan’s eyes with calm composure. “Uncle Ryan, Pierre was helping me with my wheelchair just now, but he lost his grip and nearly sent me tumbling down the stairs. Victoria was just looking out for me. She didn’t mean anything by it.”
“You think a simple ‘she didn’t mean it‘ is enough to just let this go?” Ryan pressed, his tone growing sharper.
“What else do you want me to do? It’s my and Victoria’s engagement party today. No need to make a scene and ruin the mood. I’m not going to hold it against Piere for almost sending me tumbling down the stairs just because he insisted on pushing my wheelchair when he clearly can’t handle it. Uncle, let’s not make things difficult for Victoria,” Jackson said, his tone calm and unbothered.
Seeing that Jackson wasn’t even considering punishing Victoria or Ollie, Ryan completely lost his temper. “Jackson! Is this your attitude toward the whole thing?”
Jackson replied, a bit helplessly, “Then, why don’t you tell me what you want to do?”
Ryan snapped, “If you still want Victoria to be part of the Thornton family, today, let Pierre slap her a hundred times in front of everyone! And as for your assistant, who dared to kick my son, break the leg he used to do it!”
Pierre hurled the blood–soaked tissues to the floor, his face twisted with anger as he nodded. “My dad’s right, Jackson. That’s the only way to get this rage out of my system!”
Jackson let out a helpless sigh. “Sorry, I really can’t go along with that. If you’re not happy and insist on handling things this way, maybe you should ask Grandpa if he’s okay with it.”
Ryan’s face darkened dangerously. “Jackson, seriously? At a time like this, you still want Grandpa to back you up against me? We were just in the study talking about the heir, and you’re about to get tossed aside, you know? You really think Grandpa’s still going to protect you, or your fiancée who isn’t even part of this family yet?”
Victoria retorted, “Why don’t you ask him yourself? If you won’t, I’ll ask him myself!”
With that, she settled Jackson in the hall, then cupped her hands around her mouth, looked up at the study upstairs, and shouted, “Gerry! Come out, something huge just happened!”
Everyone was at a loss for words.
Annie, who was watching the drama unfold, nearly choked on her popcorn. ‘Why is this girl not playing by the rules at all? She’s really something else.
Ryan frowned, his eyes narrowing. ‘What is that girl trying to pull now?‘
Before long, the study door opened.

Gerry slowly stepped out of the study, leaned over the railing, and looked down at Victoria. “Victoria, was that you calling me just now? What’s happened?”
Before Victoria could get a word in, Pierre spun around and shouted up to the second floor, “Grandpa, that brat and Ollie ganged up on me and kicked me! They didn’t hold back at all. Look, my nose is bleeding!”
But instead of any comfort, he got a sharp rebuke from Gerry. “Pierre, stop being impolite to her. She’s Jackson’s fiancée. Soon she’ll be your cousin–in–law!”
Pierre was momentarily stunned. He never expected his grandfather to stand up for Victoria. Even Ryan was just as shocked by Gerry’s attitude.
Felix, dead set on taking Jackson’s place, just frowned and stayed silent.
If he wanted to stay in Gerry’s good graces, he had to make sure never to get on his bad side, no matter what.
After a while, Pierre finally blurted out, still sulking, “Grandpa, did you even hear what I said? Victoria kicked me first, so of course I can’t be polite to her!”
Gerry retorted, raising an eyebrow, “If you hadn’t done anything wrong, do you really think Victoria would have kicked you?”
Pierre felt a knot in his chest. ‘What the hell? Grandpa’s not backing me up. Why is he defending that bitch?‘
Then it hit him. With the Binder family and all the guests watching from outside, Gerry couldn’t afford to play favorites too openly.
I gotta have proof for everything!‘ He thought.
With that in mind, Pierre quickly scanned the room. “Grandpa, if you don’t believe me, just ask them. They all saw Victoria
start it!”
But to his surprise, everyone else in the Thornton family was just sitting back and enjoying the show. Nobody paid him any mind.
Pierre was stunned. He could understand why Faye and Xavier were staying quiet, but he never expected his own brother to stay silent too.
“Felix, say something! You saw Victoria kick me, didn’t you?”
Annie let out a silent sigh. ‘Pierre’s such an idiot. Can’t he see that Grandpa olearly favors that girl? Anyone who speaks up for him now will only end up on Grandpa’s bad side!
‘And if he makes Grandpa unhappy, his chances of trying to replace Jackson as heir just get got even slimmer. Only a clueless, good–for–nothing like him, who never even considered competing for the Thornton family heir, could be so blind to what’s happening right now!
Victoria blinked innocently. “Gerry, I admit I kicked Pierre, but he almost made Jack fall! Jack means everything to me. He’s my heart and soul. There’s no way I’d let anyone hurt him, not even a little bit. Pierre insisted on pushing his wheelchair, but he couldn’t even do it right and nearly dropped Jack on the floor. I just acted without thinking, I had to stand up for him.
She added, still fuming, “And Gerry, don’t blame me for being suspicious, but honestly, I think Pierre did it on purpose. He just wanted to embarrass Jack!”
Annie nearly cracked up in front of everyone. ‘Seriously, talk about flipping the script, this girl is interesting!”
Pierre was so pissed at Victoria’s words that his nose, which he’d just wiped clean, started bleeding all over again. “Victoria,

quit making stuff up!”
Gerry knew all too well what his grandson was really like.
Go young
ust like Victoria pointed out, Pierre was only pretending to be helpful because he wanted to make Jackson look bad. But it otally backfired and he ended up getting humiliated instead.
Compared to Victoria, Pierre really never amounted to much.
Victoria stayed calm as ever. “Pierre, if I’m accusing you for no reason, why don’t you make a deadly oath right here in front f everyone? Swear you didn’t try to make Jack fall and embarrass him. If you’re lying, may you get run over by a car the noment you step outside, or struck by lightning the next time it rains…
‘ierre snapped, unable to take it anymore. “Enough! Stop it!”
yan couldn’t take watching Victoria push around his son anymore. Even if it meant risking Gerry’s wrath, he spoke up. You can’t just accuse my son without any evidence. But everyone saw you kicking Ryan!”
ictoria piped up with a playful tone, “Hey! Who says I’m just making wild guesses?”
