Hearing Victoria’s words, Ryan let out a cold laugh. “Alright then, tell us. What proof do you have?”
Pierre kept wiping the blood from his nose and pressed, “Are you living inside my head now? You think you know what I’m thinking?”
Victoria didn’t show a hint of fear in the face of their questioning and mockery. She locked eyes with Pierre and calmly asked. “Pierre, I’m asking you. What engagement gift are you planning to give Jack today?”
Pierre was caught off guard. His gaze flickered, obviously hiding something. After a long pause, he reluctantly replied, “Why are you asking me that?”
Victoria ignored his question and pressed on. “Stop beating around the bush. Just tell me what you’re planning to give Jack for his engagement.”
Realizing he couldn’t dodge it, Pierre got stubborn and shouted, “Why should I tell you?”
Victoria shot back, “You’re acting suspicious. You’re planning to give Jack a hundred wheelchairs, right?”
Pierre was stunned, his jaw dropped. “How did you know that?”
How could Victoria possibly know that?‘ He thought, his mind racing.
For this engagement party, Victoria and Jackson both knew that Darell’s family, Sirena, and the Thornton family were definitely up to something. They’d do whatever it took to embarrass Jackson or mess with them.
So there was no way Victoria and Jackson wouldn’t look into every detail beforehand.
When Victoria didn’t answer, Pierre shot an angry look at Faye and Xavier. “Was it you two who spilled the beans?”
Faye and Xavier looked annoyed, “Pierre, come on. We’ve been standing here the whole time. When would we have had a chance to tell her anything?”
Pierre turned to Annie. “Then it must’ve been you, Annie, right? I saw you playing with your phone earlier. Were you texting Victoria or something?”
Annie just stared, speechless.
}
She had only wanted to watch the drama, never expecting to get accused as an accomplice. She rolled her eyes and said. “Pierre, don’t lash out at everyone just because you’re cornered. Today’s the first time I’ve ever met Miss Binder.”
Victoria shot Annie a quick glance, then turned back to Pierre. “Looks like I was right after all.”
She then looked up at Gerry, who was slowly coming down the stairs. “Gerry, can you be the judge here? Am I overthinking this, or what? Tonight is a big deal for Jack and me. It’s our engagement party. But Pierre planned to give Jack a hundred wheelchairs. Isn’t that just straight–up trying to embarrass him? A hundred wheelchairs? How long would it take to use them all up? Does he want Jack to be stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of his life?”
Gerry’s face darkened.
Jackson was the grandson he valued most. Ever since he found out Victoria could heal Jackson legs in as little as three months, he finally felt relieved.
In his eyes, only Jackson was worthy of being the Thornton family’s heir. The other grandsons just didn’t measure up.

If Pierre really wanted Jackson stuck in a wheelchair for life, he was basically destroying the Thornton family’s future.
He trusted Victoria’s abilities as a healer completely. The rare medicinal herb she gave him at the reception dinner, one she’d cultivated herself, was proof enough that she was no ordinary expert.
Since she said she could cure Jackson’s legs, Gerry had no doubt she’d pull it off.
Annie was totally in awe of Victoria. ‘Seriously, how does this girl figure out what Pierre is planning to give Jack? For real. I didn’t snitch!’
She’s a total legend! I like her so much!‘
This was even crazier than when she’d watched Victoria improvise on the piano at the welcome party.
Is what Victoria said true?” Gerry demanded as he reached the bottom of the stairs, his voice sharp and unyielding.
Pierre clenched his jaw, refusing to say a word.
Thomas glanced at his daughter, Faye.
Faye understood what her father meant. Besides Jack, the other cousins in the family were also on their radar. But since Xavier couldn’t speak up in front of everyone, she took the lead as the older sister. “Grandpa, Miss Binder is right. Pierre was just boasting to us about how he’s planning to give Jack a hundred wheelchairs.”
Pierre was furicus. When he’d asked them to back him up earlier, they’d stayed silent, but now they were throwing him under the bus. “Faye! Weren’t you just laughing at Jack too?”
Faye denied it. “Was I? I was actually saying you were way too harsh. How is that laughing at him?”
Pierre gritted his teeth. “Faye, quit acting all innocent in front of Grandpa. Jack’s legs are crippled. Don’t tell me you’re not secretly gloating about it!”
Faye shot back, “Even if I am feeling a bit smug, it’s only because now Xavier actually has a chance at being the Thornton family heir. I’m not the kind of person who kicks someone when they’re down.”
Annie shook her head quietly. Looks like they are about to start biting each other again. But… Honestly, Victoria’s got skills. With just a few words, she manages to shift all the hostility onto Pierre!
Gerry cut them off. “Enough! Pierre, if you really dare to embarrass your cousin in front of all these guests. I’ll break your legs myself, and those hundred wheelchairs will be all yours!”
Pierre’s legs trembled at those words.
Just then, Jackson turned to Ryan and asked in a slow, deliberate tone, “Well, Uncle Ryan, do you still want Victoria to apologize to Pierre?”
“Did I really deserve all this just for teasing Jack a bit?”
Before Pierre could get another word out, Ryan barked, “You idiot! Get those ridiculous wheelchairs returned, now! And go find a proper engagement gift for Jack, something decent, something you can actually present in front of everyone!”
But Jackson just shook his head, not even pretending to play nice. “No need, Uncle Ryan Pierre’s gift is way too much for me. I really can’t accept it.”
Ryan’s expression soured.
The Binder family, who’d witnessed the whole thing, looked just as sour as the Thornton family.

Julia muttered under her breath, clearly frustrated, “I was hoping to see Victoria get humiliated by the Thornton family, but now it’s Ryan’s family who’s getting shut down! That damn girl is always so lucky!”
Darell’s face was grim. I’m afraid it’s not just luck. From the way Gerry is acting, he’s really not planning to give up on Jack.”
Julia was stunned. “Wait, you mean Gerry actually believes Jack’s legs will get better?”
Darell said. “In other words, Gerry is convinced Victoria can heal Jack’s legs and get him back on his feet.”
That realization sent a chill down Darell’s spine. He’d never felt this kind of pressure before. Right now, all he could do was count on Sirena, hoping her husband to arrange a meeting with Stephan for him.
Simon and Angelica were a little bummed that Victoria had managed to talk her way out of trouble again. But they already had their own scheme in place. Now, all they had to do was wait for Cassian to make his move.
Just then…
“Hey. Uncle Darell, Aunt Julia, you’re here too!” Victoria’s voice snapped the Binder family out of their thoughts. “But where’s Aunt Sirena? I haven’t seen her anywhere. Couldn’t she get you that meeting with Mr. Cooke, so she’s hiding out in shame?”
Before Darell could get a word out, Gerry jumped in, “Mr. Cooke’s coming to the engagement party tonight. Why bother trying to set up a separate meeting?”
