Sirena shot Victoria a resentful look, gritting her teeth. “Well, as your aunt, I guess I really should thank you for your kindness, Victoria.”
Victoria smiled generously. “No need. We’re family, after all.”
After saying that, she glanced at Bater, who didn’t bother to stand up for Sirena. “Aunt Sirena, you’re about to kneel and apologize to me, but why isn’t your husband saying anything for you?”
Hearing Victoria mention him, Bater immediately said, “A bet’s a bet. Since she lost to you, kneeling and apologizing is only Fair.”
Even though Sirena had always known her marriage to Bater was just a political alliance and there was never much love between them, being so ruthlessly cast aside by her husband in front of the whole family still left her heart shattered.
Victoria felt some sympathy. “Looks like your days with the Clark family aren’t nearly as glamorous as you claimed, Aunt Sirena.”
Then, she shifted her gaze to Angelica. “Angelica, you should really pay attention to her situation. She worked so hard to narry into an elite family, but in the end, she has no real security. That could easily be your fate, too.”
Jnable to take Victoria’s blatant mockery any longer, Sirena snapped, “Victoria, haven’t you said enough in front of everyone?”
She turned to Calvin and complained, “Dad, no matter how much you spoil your precious granddaughter, shouldn’t you say omething at a time like this?”
Calvin remained unmoved. “Sirena, a family’s reputation is earned through strength, not by enduring humiliation and giving it away.”
Even though Victoria had been blunt and unapologetic with her words tonight, Calvin noticed that the guests at the party veren’t showing her the same doubt or disdain they had at the last welcome party.
nstead, there was a lot more respect and admiration.
That just showed Victoria was gradually earning recognition among the elite, all thanks to her own strength and capability.
Especially now, with three heavyweights, including Stephan, backing her up, no one would dare question her.
With that kind of power, no matter how outspoken or sharp she was, she’d never bring shame to the family.
Before Sirena could get a word out, Bater cut in. “See? It’s not just your husband who won’t defend you, even your dad’s the
same.
Sirena was fuming with rage, but she finally clamped her mouth shut, refusing to dig herself a deeper hole.
Angelica didn’t get upset when she was mentioned. She just smiled and said, “Victoria, you really don’t have to worry about my marriage. Honestly, as long as I’m with my parents, that’s all the happiness I need
Victoria raised an eyebrow. “Oh, really? Then why did you try to marry Jack in the first place? Was it because back then, you thought marrying Jack would be way better than just hanging around your parents?”
That comeback landed hard. Angelica, Darell, and Julia all felt like they’d just been slapped right in the face.
Julia jumped in to defend her. “Darell and I were the ones who arranged the marriage for Angelica. As her parents, of course

we’re happy to see her get a good match.”
Victoria let out an “oh,” acting like she’d just figured it all out. “So that’s why Angelica said she only broke off the engagement with Jack because you two pressured her, like it wasn’t really her own decision.”
Julia frowned, shooting a confused look at Angelica. ‘When did Angelica ever say something like that? And who did she say it to?‘
Noticing Julia’s gaze, Angelica nervously pressed her lips together, but she didn’t look too guilty. She just kept quiet and didn’t say a word in her defense.
Feeling guilty for ever doubting Angelica, Simon called out, “Mom.”
He stopped there, not saying anything more.
Julia understood what Simon meant and forced herself to push down her doubts, deciding to just brush off Victoria’s words as an attempt to sow discord between them.
After deliberately sowing discord among Julia’s family, Victoria turned back with a smile. “Stephan, Nerom, Yorine, let me show you to another table.”
“Alright,” Stephan and the other two nodded.
Victoria glanced around the banquet hall, then turned to Daisy and Hector. “Mom, all our guests are here. You and Dad can go ahead and take your seats. The engagement party will officially start soon.”
Daisy and Hector nodded. “Alright.”
Victoria smiled at Calvin. “Grandpa, I’ll go take care of Stephan and the others first, then I’ll be right back.”
Calvin waved her off, “Go ahead.”
Watching Victoria walk away, Angelica clenched her fists. ‘Go ahead and bask in your glory, Victoria. It won’t be long before that smug smile disappears from your face!‘
As the engagement party officially kicked off, Simon scanned the crowd, trying to spot Cassian. He was dying to know what kind of plan Cassian had cooked up tonight to deal with Victoria, using the info he’d given him.
But instead of finding Cassian, Simon spotted someone totally unexpected at the table where Victoria had just taken Stephan and the other two big shots.
It was Alexis from Benwig City’s auction house.
Simon was taken aback. ‘Why is Alexis sitting at Victoria’s guest table?‘

“Thank you so much for inviting me tonight, Miss Binder!” Alexis, the invited guest, quickly stood up from his seat as soon as he saw Victoria, bowing respectfully and expressing his gratitude.
This trip was totally worth it for him. There were so many VIPs at this engagement party.
Ordinary folks wouldn’t even have the chance to meet the three people standing beside Victora alone.
He was definitely riding on Victoria’s coattails tonight.

Victoria flashed a big smile. “No need to thank me! I’ll definitely need your help with my business in Benwig City, Alexis, so don’t forget about me!”
Alexis looked genuinely surprised and honored. “Absolutely! You can count on me!”
He leaned in a bit closer and whispered, “Simon spotted me and he looks totally baffled about why I’m sitting at your table.”
Victoria stifled a laugh. “Let him stew in confusion all night.”
Alexis burst out laughing at that.
After Stephan sat down next to his son, Oliver, he gave him a hearty slap on the shoulder. “Hey, kid, have you been looking out for Victoria while she’s in Benwig City?”
Oliver gave a helpless grin. “I’d love to, but you know how capable she is. She never even gives me a chance to step in. Besides, isn’t there someone else who’s even better suited to look after her now?”
He was obviously talking about Jackson.
Jackson chuckled and joked, “Even I have to wait for Vickie to give me a chance.”
Stephan joined in the banter. “Yeah, these days, if you want to look after Victoria, you’d better get in line.”
Victoria couldn’t help but laugh. “Stephan, you’re exaggerating.”
After they’d all had a good laugh, Stephan said, “By the way, Victoria, we couldn’t think of a congratulatory gift for you. You probably already have anything precious, so Nerom, Yorine, and I will grant you one wish, as long as it’s something within our power.”
Victoria didn’t hesitate and just came right out with it. “Alright, I’ll take you up on that. Grandpa promised me that if Darell still hasn’t made any progress in six months, Dad will take over Binder Pharma Group. When that happens, I want to partner with you on your medicinal herb cultivation base.”
