Stephan didn’t even hesitate before agreeing. “No problem at all. That’s nothing. If it weren’t for you, my family’s herb farm wouldn’t have been able to keep things going.”

Nerom couldn’t wait to ask, “What about me? Is there anything I can help with, Victoria?”

Victoria said, “I hope you can serve as a medical advisor at Binder Pharma Group for a year, so my dad and his staff can get more exposure to top–tier medical expertise.”

Nerom nodded. “No problem.”

Finally, it was Yorine’s turn.

Victoria said, “Yorine, if possible, I hope you can sell the patent for your next new drug to Binder Pharma Group once my dad takes over.”

Yorine nodded. “Alright, but I can’t promise the new drug will be a success. It might take three, five, or even ten years before anything comes out of it.”

Victoria replied, “No worries.”

With Stephan, Nerom, and Yorine backing them up, Victoria was confident that Binder Pharma Group was destined for some game–changing breakthroughs with her new father running the show.

Darell can dream all he wants, but there’s absolutely no way he will ever reclaim control of Binder Pharma Group. Victoria thought.

At seven in the evening, the engagement ceremony officially started.

Gerry walked up to the fancy stage to say a few words, with Donald and Cassian by his side.

“Good evening, everyone. Tonight is the engagement party for my grandson, Jackson, and Victoria from the Binder family. I sincerely thank all of you for coming and for your blessings.”

Gerry kept his speech brief, and then Donald, standing nearby, took his turn.

“I’m Jackson’s father. Now that my son’s big life event is finally settled, I’m truly happy for him. I just hope that from now on, Jackson’s days will be smooth and his life full of happiness.”

However, his tone was cold, completely contradicting the warm words. After a few insincere and rushed lines, he passed the mic to Cassian, his face utterly expressionless.

Cassian stepped up to the mic and looked toward Jackson and Victoria in the audience.

“I’m Cassian, Jackson’s younger brother. I know most of you probably only recognize Jackson, and my name might sound unfamiliar. But since today is such a big day for my brother, I finally get the chance to stand here and introduce myself. As his little brother, I sincerely wish Jackson all the happiness in the world. I hope he and Victoria will tie the knot soon, start a family, and easily become the successor of the Thornton family.”

As soon as Cassian said that, the other Thornton family members in the audience immediately looked unhappy.

Backstage, Victoria snickered. “Cassian sure knows how to make everyone hate you.”

Jackson sat in his wheelchair, completely unbothered, and just gave a faint smile as he watched Cassian on stage. “This is the last time he’ll ever get to say something like that in front of the Thornton family.”

Down below the stage, in the Thornton family’s exclusive seats, things were tense.

Thomas glanced at Ryan, who sat across from him with no reaction at all. Then he turned to Xavier.

“Xavier, your grandfather will officially announce the Thornton family’s heir before the end of the year.”

Xavier scowled, clearly annoyed. “So we have to wait another three months? Looks like Grandpa’s still holding out hope that Jackson’s legs might recover.”

Thomas shrugged, a little uncertain. “Yeah, that’s how it is. You’ve got three months to really prove yourself to your grandfather. If you don’t, you can forget about ever being the Thornton family’s heir.”

Xavier nodded, his eyes full of determination. “I know, Dad.”

Just then. Felix, sitting across from them, let out a soft chuckle and chimed in, “Xavier, after what happened with Pierre today and seeing how Victoria handled herself tonight, it’s clear she’s not someone you can mess with easily. She’s going to be a real asset to Jackson. I heard she’s got some medical skills. Who knows, maybe she’ll even help Jackson walk again.”

But Xavier just waved it off. “Victoria? My dad and I have handled tougher women than her all over Avora. She’s easy. If we really want to deal with Jackson, stuff like Pierre’s little drama today is just kid’s stuff. It doesn’t mean anything.”

He took the opportunity to throw in a jab at Pierre.

Faye laughed.

Hearing his name brought up, Pierre still felt a wave of humiliation burning inside him. He snorted, “Oh, so you think you’re all that, Xavier? I’m dying to see how you plan to handle Jackson and that scheming bitch. Just don’t end up screwing yourself over and handing my brother the win!”

Xavier let out a cold laugh, his eyes flashing with a dangerous glint. “That’s none of your concern.”

The quickest and simplest way is to make Jackson lose faith in himself. Then he’ll no longer be the grandson Grandpa is proud of. He thought.

Felix exchanged a look with his father, then poured himself a glass of wine. He took a sip, a faint smirk playing at the corners of his mouth.

‘Let Xavier, that hot–headed, bloodthirsty brute just like his dad, charge in first and wear Jackson down. I will just wait for the perfect moment to strike and pick up the pieces!

After Cassian finished his speech, he just followed Donald and Gerry off the stage.

Gerry shot Cassian a disapproving look. “Cassian, don’t you realize that kind of talk could bring trouble down on your

brother?”

Cassian, finally getting Gerry’s attention, gave a faint smile. “Grandpa, even if I hadn’t said anything, trouble was already knocking at Jackson’s door. Whether I spoke up or not, it wouldn’t have changed a thing. So I just wanted to let everyone know I’ve got his back.”

Gerry gave him a thoughtful look but didn’t say anything else.

Cassian felt a rush of satisfaction deep down. At least what he did had finally made Gerry notice him, not just Jackson.

But he wanted more than that. He wanted to take Jackson’s place and become the Thornton family’s heir.

With that thought in mind, he stepped out from backstage, pulled out his phone, and dialed Gavin’s number.

“Gavin, are you here yet?”

Once Cassian left the stage, Hector and Daisy stepped up to speak on Victoria’s behalf.

Daisy’s voice was shaky at first, then grew more passionate, and finally broke with tears. “All I want is for my daughter to be happy her whole life. She deserves it! Jackson, please make sure she never has to suffer or feel hurt.”

Backstage, Jackson listened quietly to Daisy’s words, his expression resolute.

Hector pulled Daisy close and said into the mic, “My wife said everything I wanted to say. Thank you, everyone.”

With that, he led Daisy off the stage.

Last but not least, Victoria pushed Jackson’s wheelchair as they made their way to the stage together for their speech.

Victoria took the mic off the stand and handed it to Jackson.

Jackson took the mic, his dark eyes scanning the crowd. His voice, warm and steady, echoed through the lavish, romantic

hall.

“First of all, I want to thank every friend and family member here tonight for coming to celebrate my engagement with my fiancée, Victoria, and for witnessing this happy moment with us. I also want to thank my future in–laws for trusting me with their wonderful daughter. I promise I’ll always take care of her with my life…”

Just then, a man’s voice suddenly broke in from the entrance, clearly objecting. “Jackson, I won’t allow you to get engaged to

Victoria!”
