‘Gavin, shut up!” Cassian snapped, realizing things were spiraling out of control. He hurried over with his bodyguards, desperate to stop Gavin from saying anything more.

Seeing this, Victoria teased, “Looks like we didn’t even have to lift a finger. Cassian’s already crashed and burned with Gavin.”

ackson chuckled too. “Cassian will never get it. He only managed to set me up because I trusted him back then, not because ne’s powerful.”

Gavin completely ignored Cassian’s warning. He looked straight at Victoria, fearless, and said, “Just because he says shut up, ‘m supposed to? Not happening! I was always suspicious, why would Cassian help me get you for no reason?”

Victoria played along, asking, “Oh? Why was that?”

Gavin pointed at Jackson standing next to Victoria. “He said it was to help his brother, Jackson. Jackson wasn’t serious about narrying you, so he had me crash your engagement party and mess up your wedding on purpose!”

Gavin. looked smug after saying that. ‘Now that I’ve exposed Jackson in front of everyone, there’s no way Victoria will still narry him.‘

Victoria gave a curious “oh,” her interest clearly piqued as she kept digging, “Anything else? What else did Cassian say, or did

e want you to do something else?”

Gavin perked up at Victoria’s response, wearing a cocky grin. “Oh, there’s more! And it gets even nastier!”

Cassian’s face flushed with anger. He rushed over, almost running, and grabbed Gavin by the collar. “Didn’t you hear me tell you to shut up?”

After warning Gavin, he immediately waved his bodyguards over. “Grab him! Don’t let him keep running his mouth and

uining Jackson’s engagement party!”

But before the two bodyguards could even get close, Ollie and his crew stepped in to block them.

Cassian’s face darkened. “Ollie, what the hell are you doing? Get out of my way!”

ust then, Jackson’s commanding voice rang out from behind. “Cassian, step aside. Let Mr. Fairbank keep talking. I want to hear what else he has to say.”

Cassian clenched his fists, eyes fixed on Gavin, desperately hoping he’d have the sense to stop before saying anything even

nastier.

With nothing holding him back anymore, Gavin cleared his throat and started exposing everything to Victoria.

And that’s not all. Cassian came up with an even sleazier plan. He wanted to drug you at tonight’s engagement party, so I could take advantage of you and we’d get caught together. With your reputation ruined in front of everyone, you’d have no choice but to marry me!”

Victoria, you see it now, right? This was all Jackson’s twisted idea! He doesn’t love you, never wanted to marry you, but since he couldn’t do it himself, he cooked up this nasty plan!”

“I can’t stand guys like him! That’s why I had to come here today and clear things up. I won’t let you fall into this trap! Victoria, I really like you, for real! Will you give me another chance? No matter what happens, I swear I’ll never test your feelings again, and I’ll never break up with you, not in a million years!”

Victoria replied, “Gavin, even though you kept bothering me after we broke up, I still want to thank you for doing something nice for me and Jack tonight.”

Gavin, still holding the roses, looked totally lost. “Thank me for what?”

Jackson added, “If you hadn’t stepped up and exposed him, I would’ve stayed completely clueless. I never realized my own brother could stab me in the back like that without me even knowing.”

Gavin finally snapped out of it and asked, “So you’re saying Cassian did all this on his own, and you had nothing to do with any of it?”

Jackson nodded. “Exactly. I’ve been looking forward to getting engaged to Vickie for a long time. Why would I ever let Cassian try to get you to ruin our engagement?”

Then Jackson turned to Cassian, shooting him a look full of suspicion. “Cassian, how are you going to explain yourself? Or are you just going to claim Gavin’s out to slander you?”

At that moment, Cassian felt like he’d been hit with a freeze spell. He stood there, completely rigid, not daring to move an inch.

He could practically feel everyone staring at him, making his skin crawl.

‘I heard Cassian was considered a jinx by Gerry, so he got sent away from the Thornton family. If Jackson hadn’t stuck up for him, he probably wouldn’t even be allowed back in the family, let alone as an heir.”

Looks like Jackson really brought back an ungrateful bastard!”

Donald looked at Cassian, silently cursing him for being so reckless.

He’d already told Cassian not to bother with Victoria, and just let the Binder family handle her.

But Cassian still went and did all this behind his back, and now he’d gotten himself caught up in the mess.

Everyone else in the Thornton family was just here for the show.

Gerry finally spoke up, his voice full of authority and no room for argument. “Cassian, if you can’t give me a damn good explanation today, you’ll end up just like Sibley, be kicked out of the Thornton family, no longer one of our heirs.”

Gerry had never liked Cassian. First, he really believed Cassian was bad luck for the Thornton family. And ever since Cassian came back three years ago, Gerry saw he was just like Donald, good–for–nothing and always thinking he was all that.

The only reason Gerry even bothered to recognize Cassian as family was because he was Jackson’s little brother, the one grandson Gerry actually liked.

‘Looks like Gerry’s not holding back. He’s straight–up kicking Cassian out of the Thornton family!”

‘Doesn’t this just show Jackson’s still got top spot with Gerry?”

“I think so!”

Cassian knew he was backed into a corner.

His only move now was to pull the trigger on the second part of his plan, shift everyone’s attention onto Victoria, and hopefully buy himself some time to come up with a plausible excuse to get out of this mess.

With that in mind, he shoved his hand into his pocket and slammed down on a remote button.

Just then, a man’s scream echoed through the venue.

“Snake!”

“There’s a snake! It’s poisonous!”

“Everyone, be careful! Don’t let it bite you!”

“Not just snakes. There are poisonous scorpions too!”

Panicked cries erupted throughout the party hall as guests freaked out.
