Once everyone was sure it was safe, the guests, still rattled and uneasy, started demanding answers from Jackson and

Victoria.

“Jackson, Victoria, care to explain? How could something this crazy happen at your engagement party?”

“Yeah, someone got bitten and is poisoned already!”

“If anyone dies because of this, even the Thornton family might not be able to cover it up!”

At that, the guests glanced at each other, trying to figure out who got bitten.

Cassian watched the chaos unfold, feeling triumphant as everything played out just the way he wanted.

All the heat that had been on him was now redirected at Jackson and Victoria.

All he had to do was wait for the right moment to reveal that he’d known about Victoria’s bad intentions all along, and that’s why he’d tried to stop her from marrying Jackson. That would be enough to clear his name after the mess with Gavin.

Just then, after calming Angelica down, Simon stepped forward and shouted, “Victoria, you brought those poisonous creatures here, didn’t you? Angelica got bitten too!”

Daisy immediately shot back, “Simon, what gives you the right to slander Victoria like that?”

Hector, standing nearby, warned coldly, “Simon, are you really trying to throw Victoria to the wolves in front of all these people? You want her to take the fall?”

Simon’s face was grim as he said, “I’m not slandering her!”

“Not slander? You got any proof?” the guests asked, surprised.

Simon nodded with conviction. “I do. I have proof!”

He hadn’t planned to make a scene at the engagement party tonight, but after seeing Angelica get poisoned, he just couldn’t take it anymore.

Tonight, he was dead set on making sure Victoria was finished. There was no way he’d let her walk away free this time.

After Simon spoke up, more and more guests began to point fingers at Victoria.

“I’m telling you, it had to be Victoria! Who else could control all those venomous bugs, snakes, and ants?”

“We came to celebrate her engagement to Jackson, and now she wants us dead!”

As the guests kept questioning her, Victoria flicked the leaf from her hand and calmly scanned the crowd. “Come on, everyone, use your heads. Why would I ruin my own engagement party by unleashing all those venomous bugs, snakes, and

ants?”

The guests were momentarily stunned.

From the crowd, Cassian shouted, “Because you’re a total psycho! Anyone who can control those venomous bugs, snakes. and ants has got to be messed up. You’re a straight–up weirdo!”

Then he turned to Jackson. “Jackson, you wanted an explanation from me earlier, right? Well, here it is.”

Cassian continued, with a righteous look on his face. “I dug up some info on Victoria. She’s always been strange. Ever since she was a kid, she’s been able to handle those poisonous bugs and snakes. I was scared that if she married you, she might hurt you or Grandpa, so I tried to break up your engagement.”

He pretended to be all heartbroken, tears streaming down his face. “But I know you really care about Victoria. If I’d told you directly, you wouldn’t have believed me, and it would’ve tipped her off. I didn’t want to mess with your feelings, so I took care of everything myself, even going to Gavin was just so I could use him to ruin the engagement.”

The guests were all hanging on his every word.

“So that’s the real story.”

“Man, I thought he was a total backstabber. Guess I spoke too soon.”

Jackson raised an eyebrow, looking pensive. “Oh, really?”

Cassian put on a solemn face. “Absolutely. I’ve got proof right here. Once you check it out, you’ll see I’m telling the truth.”

As he spoke, he pulled out the file Simon had handed him and strode over to give it to Jackson.

Jackson gave the file a quick look, then passed it to Ollie, who handed it off to Gerry.

Gerry flipped through the pages, then fixed his gaze on Victoria, his voice steady. “Victoria, care to explain this?”

Victoria stayed calm. “Yeah, I can command and control those venomous snakes and scorpions. But even if I were a total psycho, wouldn’t I just do it quietly? Why would I go out of my way to cause such a public mess and chaos? To piss you all off? To bring trouble down on myself?”

“Do I look like I’ve got nothing better to do?” Victoria rolled her eyes. “Come on, everyone here is a big shot in Benwig City, maybe even the whole country. You’re not seriously going to let Cassian manipulate you so easily, are you?”

Some of the guests who’d been doubting her were left speechless by her comeback.

Cassian cut in immediately. “You brazenly commanded those venomous bugs and snakes to wreak havoc at the engagement party because you thought we had no clue about your shady history, so you figured nobody would ever suspect you!”

“And let’s be honest, Victoria, ever since you rejoined the Binder family, you’ve been totally reckless, right? You seem to really enjoy all this madness!”

Seizing the perfect moment to pile on Victoria, Julia, with her resentment boiling over, put on a dramatic show, tears streaming down her face as she cried out, “Exactly! She’s always been totally insane and over–the–top! As her mother, I can testify to that!”

All eyes shifted from Cassian to Julia.

Calvin’s brow furrowed as he spoke in a deep, warning tone, “Julia, mind your words.”

Julia rolled her eyes inwardly at Calvin’s warning, thinking, ‘Yeah, right.

After everything Victoria had done to her family, Julia was hell–bent on kicking her when she was down.

“Do you all really think I’d just refuse to acknowledge my own biological daughter for no reason? Am I really that cold and

heartless?”

“No! It’s because I know exactly how twisted she is. I was honestly terrified to accept her as my daughter, scared she’d end up

Julia’s tearful outburst really got to the guests, and a lot of them started nodding in understanding.

“Honestly, if I were in her shoes, I’d be pretty freaked out too.”

“Yeah, the Binder family used to be so happy. Angelica might not be their real daughter, but she’s so amazing and beautiful, and they’ve raised her for so long. Of course they wouldn’t want to give her up for some weird biological daughter.”

“Curtis really got the short end of the stick. He’s basically a vegetable now.”

“Victoria, what do you have to say for yourself after all this chaos tonight?”
