Simon was nervously hovering over Angelica, desperately trying to protect her, when Cassian suddenly pointed the finger at him. His face changed, and he turned to Cassian, frustration and anger flashing in his eyes.
‘If I’d known Cassian was this unreliable, I never would’ve worked with him!‘
Darell glanced anxiously at Simon, his eyes full of accusation as he whispered, “What’s going on?”
If Simon really was behind the chaos with those poisonous bugs and snakes, their family wouldn’t stand a chance against the big shots here tonight.
Simon quickly shook his head. “Dad, it wasn’t me.”
Darell finally let out a sigh of relief.
Aside from Angelica, the other seven victims might not have the Thornton family’s prestige in Benwig City, but if they joined forces, they’d have more than enough power to crush the Binder family.
Victoria smirked and joked, “Jackson, looks like the show is about to kick off.”
She and Jackson hadn’t exposed Cassian and Simon’s plot earlier. They wanted to let them make a mess of things
themselves.
The bigger the chaos, the more miserable their fate would be.
Jackson mused, “Tonight, it’s finally time to end things with Cassian.”
Hearing Cassian’s words, Gerry exploded. “Damned fool! Who do you think you are? Do you really think your brother needs you sticking your nose in his business?”
Even though the words stung, Cassian swallowed his pride and quickly admitted his fault. “I was wrong, Grandpa, Jackson. I shouldn’t have doubted Victoria, and I shouldn’t have questioned your decisions.”
Gerry said coldly, “Cassian, don’t think saying sorry means you’re off the hook. I’m not done with you yet. I’ll deal with you
later.”
Then Gerry turned to Simon, his expression solemn. “Simon, you owe us an explanation. So many people got poisoned and injured today. If you don’t come clean, I’ll make sure you end up behind bars, no matter what.”
‘Gerry, it was Cassian who came to me…” Simon was about to tell the truth about finding Angelica, but he stopped himself. He didn’t want to drag Angelica into this mess, so he quickly changed his tune.
“Cassian asked me to team up against Victoria. I only gave him some info about her, but I had nothing to do with those snakes and scorpions. Everything that happened tonight was Cassian’s plan. It has nothing to do with me!”
Darell quickly jumped in to defend his son. “Gerry, Angelica was also bitten and poisoned in this disaster. Simon has always doted on his sister. There’s no way he’d ever plan something like this and let her suffer so much.”
The guests found the explanation convincing.
“Yeah, Angelica got bitten too. If Simon was behind this, he would’ve protected her. There’s no way he’d let her get hurt.”
“So, Cassian still seems like the one behind it.”
Cassian clenched his jaw, still trying to pin it all on Simon. “Quit dodging, Simon! After what Victoria did to your family, you

can’t stand her. That’s why you went so far as to orchestrate this chaos at her and Jackson’s engagement party just to get back at her!”
Simon shot back, “This is the Thornton family’s house, I wouldn’t have the guts to stir up trouble here! Cassian, it’s obvious it was you! You want to snatch Jackson’s spot as the Thornton heir. When you found out Victoria might be able to heal Jackson’s legs, you freaked out and came up with this crazy plan to get rid of her, so Jackson would never have a chance to recover!”
“That’s nonsense!” Cassian snapped, furious and embarrassed that his real motives had just been exposed for everyone to
see.
Watching them argue back and forth, the other Thornton family was thoroughly entertained.
Ryan shot a look of disdain at Donald and couldn’t help but sneer, “Cassian? That loser? Even if Jackson can’t be the heir, there’s no way it’d ever be him. Does he think we’re invisible or something?”
Pierre immediately chimed in, “Exactly! If it weren’t for Jackson, who does he think he is? And he actually dared to betray his own brother? He’s just giving us all a good laugh.”
Faye sighed, “It’s scary how clueless and dumb some people can be.”
As they roasted Cassian without holding back, Donald’s face tightened. He was burning with shame inside, but kept his mouth shut.
Thomas said, “But honestly, Cassian might be just as dumb as Pierre, but he’s ruthless enough. He actually dared to gamble with the lives of all these big shots at an event like this.”
Ryan and Pierre were taken aback.
Pierre shot back, “Uncle, don’t lump me in with that loser. Don’t jinx me!”
Donald was stunned.
Just as Cassian and the Binder family were arguing back and forth, Jackson finally spoke up. “Enough. Stop arguing.”
His voice was soft, but it still cut through the chaos on both sides.
Cassian quickly said, “Jackson, you have to believe me. Yeah, I brought Gavin here on purpose to ruin your engagement party with Victoria, but I was just worried about you, that’s all. I never meant to hurt you, and I swear I had nothing to do with those poisonous bugs and snakes.”
‘No way am I taking the blame for this!‘ he thought.
Cassian spoke with heartfelt sincerity, but Jackson remained unmoved. He locked eyes with Cassian and said, “Cassian, I’ve already figured out the truth. Those poisonous bugs and snakes tonight weren’t Simon’s doing. They were all your scheme
That statement made Darell let out a huge sigh of relief. “Thank God it wasn’t Simon. If those poisoned guests started pointing fingers, not just my family, but the whole Binder clan would be doomed!‘
Simon quietly exhaled, slumping back into his chair, completely spent. I nearly got blamed for Cassian’s mess
Cassian paused, then tried to tug at Jackson’s heartstrings. “Jackson, I’m your brother. Don’t you believe me?”
Victoria sneered at Cassian’s shameless act. “Cassian, haven’t you realized yet? Jackson doesn’t trust you anymore. Pulling the family card and playing the victim won’t help you now. And honestly, who’s to say you’re even his real brother?”
At that remark, the crowd was floored. Even Gerry’s face darkened in shock.

“What does Victoria mean by that? I can’t make sense of it.”

“Didn’t Cassian only get brought back to the Thornton family three years ago? Maybe Victoria’s saying the Cassian we’ve got now is a fake, not really Jackson’s brother.”
“No way! This is a bombshell!”
“If Cassian really isn’t Jackson’s real brother, then it totally explains why he’d go after him like this.”
This can’t ever be exposed!‘ Donald thought, panic flickering in his eyes as he shot a nervous look at Gerry. He barked at Victoria, “Victoria, now that you’re engaged to my son, you’re supposed to be one of us. How can you trash our reputation in front of everyone?”
Victoria just rolled her eyes. “Sorry, Jackson and I are family. You and Cassian? That’s a whole different story.”
Donald went red in the face, completely shut down by her comeback.
Jackson kept his cool. “Cassian, I’ve already rounded up everyone who helped you out. Do you want me to bring them in here and question you in front of all these people, so you’ll finally admit you planned all of this tonight?”
Hearing Jackson’s words, Cassian was drenched in sweat, desperately defending himself. “Jackson… everything I did tonight was because I was worried about you… I was afraid Victoria’s dark arts might hurt you…”
jackson let out a cold, mocking laugh. “Oh, really? Well, I also found out you and Sibley teamed up for her kidnapping. So when you tried to take me out and ended up wrecking my legs instead, was that your idea of helping me too?”
