Even Jackson, cool as ever, was thrown off by Victoria’s straight talk. He laughed, then explained, “When I said I didn’t have to hold back, I didn’t mean I’d already dealt with it. It’s just that before I met you, I never felt that way about any other
woman.”
Victoria eyed Jackson, looking a little skeptical.
Of course, she figured Jackson wouldn’t bother lying to her. But, she still wanted to tease him a bit.
“Jack, you’re not exactly young anymore. Most guys your age usually have certain urges, right?” Victoria teased, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Jackson smiled softly. “Vickie, you know how things are in the Thornton family. My uncles are always scheming for the heir position, and if I ever let myself get distracted, I wouldn’t be where I am now. Work kept me busy every day, and I was focused on building my career. I never had the time or energy to think about that kind of stuff. Even my engagement to Angelica was something Grandpa arranged.”
“It’s only now, after my accident, that I finally have some downtime. And then I met you. Honestly, that’s the first time I ever started thinking about relationships.”
At the end, he added, “Vickie, you don’t think I’m too old for you, do you?”
Victoria laughed. “Not at all, Jack. You’re just the right age. Not old at all.”
After a pause, she asked curiously, “By the way, I’ve always wondered. Your dad is the youngest in the family, but you’re the eldest grandson of the Thornton family.”
“It’s all because of teenage romance. While my aunts and uncles were busy hustling for their careers, he was out living the romantic life,” Jackson said, deadpan. “Like I mentioned before, my mom was drawn to him just because he was handsome back then.”
Victoria nodded. “Got it.”
Both of them had killer looks, but Jackson didn’t inherit his father’s habit of growing up too fast. He only got the best traits.
“Well, I’m heading out. I got a lot to handle tomorrow.”
‘Okay.”
By the time Victoria got back to Goldenwood Villa with Daisy and Hector, it was almost eleven.
When she walked into her room, there were clear signs that someone had been inside.
Soon enough, Blackie, Whitey, and Greenie slithered out.
Greenie was the first to scramble onto the bed and slither over to Victoria.
Seeing they were all okay, Victoria sat down and gave Greenie, who had poked her head out first, a gentle pat. “You guys never let me down.”
she had figured Simon would try to sneak someone into her room again, hoping to catch her raising venomous snakes and tir up drama at the engagement party. Too bad for him, he failed spectacularly, lost Brightstar Entertainment for good, and ven got himself booted from the Binder family inheritance.
Meanwhile, Angelica was suffering from the lingering effects of the poison, her face disfigured and trapped in agony.

Watching those two crash and burn like that was honestly so satisfying for Victoria.

Greenie, excited by the praise, nuzzled Victoria’s fingers, then hinted with her tail toward the window, her eyes full of anticipation.
“Alright, tonight you guys get to enjoy a buffet in the garden.”
Greenie tumbled off the bed and started bragging to Blackie and Whitey, acting like she was the one who got them the garden buffet.
Victoria laughed. ‘Greenie’s still the same little rascal‘
Blackie and Whitey didn’t even bother with her and just slithered out the window one after another.
Greenie hurried after them.
Victoria stood by the bed, watching the three snakes disappear into the night, her eyes full of anticipation.
Simon and Angelica hadn’t hit rock bottom yet.
If Victoria was right, once Simon realized Angelica’s face was ruined by the lingering poison, he’d definitely take her with him to the auction house tomorrow to find the poison expert.
‘I wonder how those two will react when they see me,’ she mused.

At hospital.
“Why can’t you just give me a blood transfusion?” Angelica yelled, unable to believe what she was hearing.
Julia, standing next to her, was startled by her outburst.
Catching herself, Angelica took a deep breath and softened her tone. “Doctor, you can see for yourself. My face is so swollen because of the poison still in my system.”
Julia quickly added, “Doctor, money is no object. If the hospital’s blood bank doesn’t have enough, we’ll find a way to get
more.”
The doctor said seriously, “We can perform a full blood transfusion, but I need to be clear. This procedure is risky, and even if we do it, there’s no guarantee your face will improve.”
Hearing that a blood transfusion might not even fix her face, Angelica was crushed by despair. She couldn’t stand the thought of living with a ruined face.
If her face never got better, she’d rather be dead than live like this.
But before she died, she was hell–bent on taking Victoria down with her, the real culprit behind it all.
In Curtis’s hospital room.
When Simon saw Julia and Angelica walk in, both looking completely drained, he asked, worried, “What’s wrong?”
Julia let out a sigh and told him everything the doctor had said.

Hearing about Angelica’s situation, Simon said, his voice serious, “Angelica, come with me to the biggest auction house in Benwig City tomorrow. There’s a poison expert who’ll be there in person, and maybe she can cure the lingering poison in your body.”
At those words, a spark of hope lit up Angelica’s eyes, which had been dull and lifeless just moments ago. “Really?”
Simon nodded. “Yeah, Alexis from the auction house said this poison expert is a real pro. She can cure any kind of poison.”
Angelica grabbed his arm, her voice trembling with excitement. “Okay, I’ll go with you to the biggest auction house in Benwig City tomorrow.”
Simon looked at his sister standing right in front of him, but he didn’t immediately look away.
Her swollen, messed–up face was honestly just too much to handle.
‘Man, I really hope that poison expert can fix Angelica, Simon thought. ‘Otherwise, it’s not just her who can’t stand it, I can barely look at her like this.’
Curtis was still stuck in a coma, but his mind was sharp as ever. After hearing from Julia what Angelica went through at Victoria’s engagement party, he cursed her in his head. ‘Serves her right! A vicious, two–faced woman like her deserves to be ugly forever, never show her face again!‘
Once he’d finished ranting, a surge of pride and joy bubbled up inside him. ‘Victoria is still a total badass. She didn’t get hurt by that vicious woman. Instead, she made Angelica crash and burn. That’s what she gets! It’s so damn satisfying!”
“Victoria is pure poison! Angelica was nearly dying from the venom, and she just watched and didn’t lift a finger!” Julia was trembling with fury, ranting about Victoria.
Angelica, her face streaked with tears, cried out like her heart was being ripped apart. “Isn’t Victoria super good at controlling those poisonous bugs and snakes? I don’t think getting bitten by that scorpion was an accident at all. It was all her doing. She wants me dead.”
Hearing Angelica start her sob story again, Curtis snorted inwardly, full of contempt. ‘If Victoria really did it on purpose, then she nailed it. That’s exactly what she should’ve done!‘
“It’s possible… no, I’m sure, Victoria definitely did it on purpose!” Julia’s rage burned even hotter. “No wonder she just left you to suffer. She couldn’t wait for you to die! I’ve never seen anyone so evil!”
The more Julia stewed on it, the more her rage boiled over. She felt like her chest was about to burst from fury.
“And what really gets me is, Grandpa actually went and announced in front of everyone that you can’t inherit the Binder family business. Honestly, he must have lost his mind in his old age!” Julia ranted.
As Julia kept venting, she started to get more and more suspicious. “Victoria’s so creepy. Do you think she’s got some kind of mind control over Grandpa? Maybe she even poisoned him with some weird voodoo or hex!”
