Chapter 149

Victoria parked the car and asked Daisy to stay inside. Then she got out and walked up to the gate of the Clark family’s estate, pressing the doorbell.

After a moment, a middle–aged butler came out.

Victoria said directly, “I’m looking for Aunt Sirena. I’m her niece, Victoria.”

As the Clark family’s butler, he was well–informed about all the happenings among the major families in high society.

Lately, the biggest buzz in high society was Victoria’s return to the Binder family, and how she stole the spotlight from Benwig City’s famous socialite, Angelica, at the welcome banquet.

Just last night, Victoria and Jackson’s wedding was a spectacular event, and word was that Gerry and Jackson held her in the highest regard.

“Miss Binder, please wait a moment. I’ll go in and tell her,” the middle–aged butler said, turning back toward the house.

Inside the main hall, Sirena demanded, “What did you just say?”

As soon as she heard the butler’s report, her temper flared instantly.

She shoved her husband who was holding a cup of coffee to perk himself up.

The sudden push made Bater spill coffee all over his clothes and lap. He scowled and snapped, “Are you crazy or something?”

“Are you out of your mind? Didn’t you hear what the butler said? Victoria is at the door!” Sirena snapped, her irritation growing at Bater’s indifferent attitude. “If I hadn’t believed you could handle Mr. Cooke, I never would’ve made that stupid bet with her!”

Bater grabbed the tissues from the butler, wiped off the coffee, and stood up, even more annoyed. “Seriously, what are you so afraid of? Let her show up. If we don’t open the door, what’s she gonna do? Break in and force you to apologize?”

‘He’s got a point, Sirena thought. ‘As long as I stay inside, Victoria can’t just wait outside forever, can she? If she really wants to wait, let her wait all she wants.‘

She knew it was humiliating to be too scared to go out because of Victoria, but kneeling and apologizing to her was not just humiliating. It was a complete loss of dignity.

“There’s no way in hell I’m ever going to kneel to her!‘ Sirena vowed to herself.

‘Listen to me. Don’t open the door for Victoria,” Sirena ordered the butler, her voice steady now that she’d calmed down.

The butler nodded. “Yes, ma’am.”

“You’re losing your cool over something so petty. Is this how a Clark family matriarch is supposed to behave?” Bater scoffed. then headed upstairs to change his clothes.

Hearing her husband say that, Sirena felt even more frustrated. ‘I was the one who got dragged into this mess because of him, and now he’s making it sound like it’s all my fault?‘

The more Sirena thought about it, the more she resented Victoria. If that brat hadn’t stirred up so much trouble in the Binder family, I never would’ve thought about getting involved in that mess again! Now I’m the one stuck with all the

Victoria waited outside the Clark family’s gate for ages, and when the butler never showed up again, she knew Sirena must’ve told him to keep her out, like that would actually stop her.

‘Yeah, right, Victoria thought, rolling her eyes. ‘Does she really think I’ll just give up? Not a chance!

Daisy’s face was red with anger as she got out of the car and walked over to Victoria. Staring at the estate, she grumbled, “Looks like she is totally ignoring us on purpose. How can she act like this as an elder? She’s got no shame at all!”

Victoria quickly tried to calm Daisy down. “Mom, take it easy. We’re here to vent our anger, so let’s keep our cool. If Aunt Sirena refuses to show up or let us in, we’ll just make her come out and beg us to go inside.

Hearing that, Daisy asked, “You’ve already got a plan?”

Victoria’s lips curled into a sly grin. “Honestly, since we’re both Binder family, I didn’t want to blow things up and make Aunt Sirena lose face in front of outsiders. But if she wants to play dirty, I’ll out–shameless her, simple as that.”

With that, she expertly pulled out her phone and dialed Mara without hesitation.

As soon as Mara picked up, Victoria ordered, “Mara, get me a professional dragon and lion dance troupe with drums and gongs, immediately.”

Meanwhile, Bater changed his clothes and went straight back to bed for a nap.

Meanwhile, Sirena was on edge in the main hall, unable to sit still for half an hour as her mind spun about what was going on outside.

Finally, Sirena couldn’t stand it anymore. She turned to the butler passing by and demanded anxiously, “Go check if Victoria is still outside the gate!”

“Yes, ma’am,” the butler replied, hurrying outside. He came back just as quickly, looking uneasy.

Seeing his expression, Sirena’s heart leaped into her throat. She blurted out, “Well? What is it?”

The butler replied, “Miss Binder is still outside the gate, and…”

He suddenly paused, his gaze shifting nervously, looking unsure if he should spill the truth about what he’d just seen.

“And? Quit beating around the bush and spit it out!” Sirena barked, feeling her nerves fray as she watched the butler squirm.

The butler looked troubled, hesitating for a long moment before finally saying, “There are a bunch of people outside, all holding drums and gongs. It looks like they’re about to kick up a huge commotion any minute now.”

As soon as she heard that, Sirena immediately figured out what Victoria was planning.

She trembled with fury, grinding her teeth and cursing Victoria in her head.

Every time Victoria yelled, the drums and gongs would thunder again, so loud that everyone for a mile could hear it.

Sirena jumped up, stunned. “This is a disaster! How could she pull such an embarrassing stunt?”

She turned to the butler, “Get some people out there and stop her! Don’t let her disturb the elders‘ rest!”

Just then, her mother–in–law appeared in the hallway. “Too late. I’m already awake because of it.”

Sirena grew flustered. “Mom… I’ll take care of it right now.”

Miranda’s voice was frosty. “Drive her away, huh? Aren’t you worried she’ll just make a scene here and then go raise hell all over Benwig City?”

Sirena was speechless for a moment. “Mom, I didn’t think it through.”

Miranda’s tone was cold. “You’ve been married into the Clark family for ages, but you’re still as clueless as ever. All you care about is keeping your face pretty. When are you going to start using your head?”

Sirena gritted her teeth, swallowing her anger. “Yes, Mom. You’re right.”

“Not to disrespect the Binder family, but look at your niece. She is just brought back, and she’s just as brainless as you Causing a fuss at our place over something so petty,” Miranda said, looking down her nose at them.
