Queen Of Revenge And Glory (Victoria and Jackson) novel Chapter 152

Chapter 152

Miranda’s gaze was so predatory that it sent chills down people’s spines.

That look wasn’t just anger. It was forged over years, hardened by time.

Any naive youngster wouldn’t survive more than three seconds under that stare.

But Victoria wasn’t fazed. She even deliberately locked eyes with Miranda, refusing to back down.

Victoria said, The Clark family started on the dark side, only turning legit later. The first head of the family had his hands in almost every illegal deal, raking in dirty money.

Eventually, they decided to clean up, switched to proper business, and slowly built their empire in Benwig City.

These days, your family mostly runs highend clubs and hotel chains here at home, and that’s pretty clean.

But as for your overseas operations? There’s still a bit of a gray area lurking there.”

The first Clark family head did have blood on their hands. But starting with the last person in charge, the family began scrubbing away its dark history bit by bit.

The current family head was doing everything possible to sever ties with all those shady old businesses, determined to make the Clark family spotless.

The more Victoria spoke, the colder Miranda’s stare became, like she was sizing up someone already doomed.

But Victoria smiled calmly.

Mr. Clark, your family went through hell to clean up its reputation.

If your brother finds out you’re dragging up the Clark family’s old skeletons to threaten me, who do you think will be in hot water? Me, or you?

That made Bater freeze.

Bater’s brother never let anyone mention the Clark family’s past. If he found out, he’d probably break Bater’s legs.

Miranda’s gaze shifted from menacing to scrutinizing as she assessed Victoria.

She knew perfectly well that the Clark family was determined to go legit.

For her husband and eldest son, talking about the past was strictly taboo, and going back to the old, dangerous ways of making money was even more forbidden.

She had allowed Bater to intimidate Victoria and Daisy, mainly to scare them off and make them retreat, but she never intended to use any shady methods against them.

But after hearing Victoria speak, it seemed she knew the Clark family inside out.

This girl might not be as ordinary as she looks, Miranda thought.

Sirena felt her heart race. She honestly had no clue how the Clark family first built their empire.

These days, they looked every bit the picture of a respectable highsociety clan.

After Victoria’s comeback, Bater was genuinely scared of pissing off his brother, but he wasn’t about to lose face in front of

her.

He stiffened his neck and retorted, Yeah, right. You’re the one in trouble. My big brother could make you disappear without a trace. No one would ever find your body!

Oh, is that so? Then maybe I’ll leak some of the Clark family’s shady history online, let everyone see just how dangerous you guys are. How about that?Victoria said, sounding nonchalant.

But Bater could hear the threat loud and clear.

Miranda’s face turned grim. Where did she get those shady secrets about the Clark family?she wondered.

You wouldn’t dare!Bater snarled, clenching his teeth. If you pull that stunt, you’re dead meat.

And it’s not just you. Your worthless mom, and the whole Binder family, they’ll all pay the price for what you do.

As soon as he finished, he saw Victoria get up from the couch and walk right over to him.

Bater shrank back against the sofa, eyes wide with alarm. What are you doing?

As he spoke, his hand quietly reached for the walkietalkie, planning to call for backup.

If four bodyguards couldn’t handle her, then ten, twenty, that had to be enough!he thought.

Sirena, sitting nearby, instinctively shrank back.

After all, the four bodyguards were still convulsing on the floor.

Victoria strode right up to Bater and, without hesitation, slapped him hard across his decadentlooking face.

The slap sent his head jerking to the side, and his hand slipped off the walkietalkie.

Since you can’t keep your mouth shut, let me fix that for you,Victoria snapped.

Without giving Bater or Miranda a chance to react, she gave him another hard slap on the other side of his face.

Miranda finally snapped and barked, Stop! You little brat, how dare you hit my son right in front of me?

Tsk, you’re halfway in the grave, old lady. Why wouldn’t I slap your son right in front of you? The more you try to scare me. the more I’ll slap your son. If you think you can stop me, try,Victoria sneered.

Her hand was moving fast as she kept slapping. Go ahead, call my mom useless one more time, and I’ll slap your nasty mouth till it’s ruined.

Sirena stared, dumbfounded.

Strangely enough, she felt a sense of relief, maybe because it really bothered her that her husband never gave a damn about her, only about his mother.

After she’d had her fill, Victoria didn’t bother dragging things out. She turned to Sirena, rubbing her palm, her eyes sharp as she demanded, Aunt Sirena, are you going to apologize or not?

Sirena jolted, her eyes darting to the four bodyguards still twitching on the floor, then slowly shifting to her husband Bater’s face, swollen and red.

Compared to what they’ve been through, apologizing doesn’t seem so bad after all, she thought.

Finally, as if making up her mind, she stood up, slowly bowed to Victoria, forcing herself to say. I’m sorry, Victoria.”

Victoria looked satisfied. See? Was that really so hard? If you’d apologized earlier, none of this drama would’ve happened.

Now things are a mess, and the Clark family can’t touch me, so guess who’s going to take the heat? You. Seriously, what was the point? In the end, you’re only screwing yourself over.

Sirena was at a loss for words.

Victoria’s got a point, Sirena thought bitterly. Now that Bater’s been slapped, I’m going to get caught in the fallout.

Just thinking about it made Sirena want to explode. If Victoria hadn’t pushed me so hard, I wouldn’t have ended up on the Clark family’s blacklist!

How did Bater end up marrying such a worthless woman!Miranda was beside herself with rage when she saw Sirena bow to Victoria.

Sirena stood straight, wanting to protest, but the words got stuck in her throat.

Victoria shot back without hesitation. Sure, my aunt might be useless, but your son’s just as pathetic. He can’t even stand up for his own wife. What a joke.

Instead of teaching your son to be a real man, you dump all your anger on your daughterinlaw. What’s the point? Or are you too embarrassed to admit you raised a loser?

Sirena was stunned, staring at Victoria like she couldn’t believe her ears. She never thought Victoria would say something that sounded like she was on her side.

Victoria caught the look on Sirena’s face and smirked. Don’t give me that look, Aunt Sirena. I’m not sticking up for you.

It’s just that when Miranda looks down on you, she’s looking down on the whole Binder family. I’m a Binder too, so I’ve gotta stand up for us.

Miranda could see that Victoria was no pushover. She still didn’t know everything about this girl, and with her eldest son not at home, dealing with Victoria would have to wait.

Fuming, she snapped, Your aunt has already apologized. You and your mother get out of my house, right now!

But Bater, clutching his face, scrambled up from the couch and shouted, Don’t let her leave. Mom, look what she did to me. I won’t let her walk out of here unscathed!

Just as he finished speaking, Victoria spun around in a flash and smacked him hard across the face.

Her tone was dripping with contempt. What, still haven’t had enough? Who are you to speak? Yelling as you matter here.
