“It was me,” Annie blurted out, not wanting Victoria to be misunderstood.

But when Angelica started grilling her, Victoria didn’t bother to defend herself or deny anything. Instead, she stopped Annie from jumping in to argue for her.

Victoria raised an eyebrow, a sarcastic smile tugging at her lips. “Yeah, I was gossiping about you behind your back. So what?

“You’ve got plenty of drama worth talking about, a mom who swapped someone else’s kid, and you’re as vicious and fake.”

Annie suddenly thought, ‘Why am I even trying to explain for Victoria? Angelica and Simon aren’t worth it.

Angelica thought, ‘Ugh, Victoria always throws me off. I never know how to come up with a comeback when it comes to her.

Most people would get flustered if caught gossiping, but Victoria owned up to it without blinking and even turned it into a jab at Angelica’s mom.

‘God, this is driving me crazy,‘ Angelica thought.

“Angelica, weren’t you disfigured from the poisoning? Shouldn’t you be in the hospital getting a full blood replacement or something? So what are you doing here?” Victoria sneered.

Victoria clocked Angelica hiding behind a mask and sunglasses, wrapped up like she was dodging paparazzi.

She knew Angelica’s face was still swollen and red from the lingering poison, too ashamed to let anyone see her. Naturally, Victoria had to twist the knife.

Angelica instinctively glanced around to make sure no one was paying attention, and then nervously tugged at her mask.

Simon stood off to the side, his tone icy. “Did you set up that scorpion to bite Angelica on purpose?”

‘Hey, Simon, don’t start accusing me without any proof again. Wasn’t Grandfather’s punishment last night enough for you? You itching for another beating?” Victoria shot back.

Remembering how rough things got for him last night, Simon’s face turned sour.

Annie couldn’t help but chime in. “Simon, your precious sister is way too vicious. She’s finally getting what she deserves, and I bet she’s got more payback coming.”

With her sunglasses hiding her eyes, Angelica shot Annie a venomous glare. But since Annie was part of the Thornton family, she didn’t dare say anything nasty.

Instead, she put on a pitiful act. “Annie, I don’t think I ever did anything to you. Why are you saying such mean stuff for no reason?”

Annie fired back without hesitation. “Because I can’t stand you. When Jackson was riding high, you were glued to him.

‘But as soon as he lost the use of his legs, you dropped him in a month, pretending you’re some innocent victim.”

Angelica hurried to explain, “You’ve got it all wrong. I didn’t abandon Jackson. I’ve been doing everything I can to help

him…”

“Enough. I don’t buy it, and neither does Jackson,” Annie cut her off. “Now that Victoria’s treating Jackson, you don’t need to fake it anymore. Better focus on fixing your face.”

Victoria grinned and taunted, “Angelica, keep stalling, and you’ll end up ruined.

“But hey, if the blood replacement doesn’t fix you, there’s always plastic surgery. You could get yourself a whole new face.”

Angelica clenched her fists.

Seeing that arguing with Victoria wasn’t getting him anywhere, Simon decided not to waste any more time.

He shot Victoria a frosty glare. “Victoria, don’t be so smug. I’ve found a way to clear the poison from Angelica’s body and restore her face.”

“Oh? And what method is that?” Victoria asked, acting clueless.

Simon didn’t bother keeping it a secret. “Alexis knows a poison specialist who says he can cure any poison. He’s coming to the auction today.”

“So you’re here to get Angelica detoxed, huh?” Victoria’s smirk grew even sharper. “No wonder you’ve been acting so cocky lately.

“Last night, you even accused me in front of everyone at my engagement party of summoning all those poisonous bugs and

snakes.”

Simon gritted his teeth. “That’s right. Once I’m cured from your poison, you won’t be able to threaten me anymore.”

Angelica blinked, finally realizing. “So, Simon, you were only listening to her because she was controlling you with poison?”

Simon nodded, looking uneasy. “Angelica, I didn’t tell you before because I didn’t want you to worry.

“Once I meet that poison doctor Alexis talked about and get him to cure me, I won’t have to fear her anymore. He can help you get rid of the poison in your body, too.”

Victoria cut him off, bursting his bubble. “Simon, don’t get too excited. Let me tell you, my poison is something only I can cure.”

Simon’s face darkened for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure. “Don’t think you’re all that. In Benwig City. there’s always someone stronger.

“Once I meet that poison doctor, you’ll see what it really means to be outclassed.”

“Suit yourself. Good luck with that,” Victoria said, turning to Annie. “Come on, the auction’s about to start. Let’s head to our private room and wait.”

Annie let out a surprised “Wow!” “A private room? Victoria, I heard only people worth billions and personally approved by Alexis get that kind of treatment.

“Even in the Thornton family, only Jackson and Grandpa ever get to use them. You’re such a big deal.”

Hearing Victoria and Annie talking, Simon felt off–balance. He’d tried to get into a private room himself, but the staff stopped him, saying Alexis had reserved the last one for someone else.

It turned out Alexis had saved it for Victoria.

Alexis had even shown up at Victoria’s engagement party last night.

Simon wondered, ‘How did Alexis and Victoria even meet? What’s their relationship?

Simon suddenly realized what was going on.

‘Of course!‘ he thought.

Victoria had secured so many shares in the Binder family companies that her net worth had shot through the roof.

And after Calvin’s announcement last night, everyone knew Simon was out of the running for the Binder family inheritance.

With Curtis still lying unconscious in the hospital, as far as everyone else was concerned, Victoria was the only one left to take over the Binder family empire.

As Simon was lost in thought, Victoria’s voice cut in again. “Oh, by the way, Simon, you guys came from the private room area, right?

“Were you hoping to get in? So why’d you turn back? Guess you didn’t make the cut, huh?”

Simon could hear the mockery in her tone. She was rubbing it in that he hadn’t gotten any shares, was about to lose control of Brightstar Entertainment, and might even lose his claim to the inheritance.

But it was the truth, and all he could do was clench his jaw and choke down the humiliation.
