“Xavier? Why is it you…” Cassian whispered, shock in his voice.

Xavier stepped forward with a cold smirk. “Who else did you think it would be? Jackson? After you screwed him over so badly, you really thought he’d come to your rescue?”
“But hey, my guys told me Jackson actually sent someone to pick you up. Too bad he was just a little too late. got here first,” Xavier sneered.
“Looks like even after you wanted him dead, he still gives a damn about you, his little brother,” Xavier added.
“Where am I?” Cassian asked weakly, his voice barely audible as he glanced around.
The room was damp, rats and cockroaches scurrying everywhere, and water constantly dripping from the ceiling.
“You’re in Afriska,” Xavier said.
Cassian froze. “What do you want with me here?”
Lavier sneered, “Obviously, I’m using you, you worthless idiot, to take down Jackson. The same tricks you and
bley used against him before.”
“If he still gives a damn about his little brother’s life, he’ll definitely come running to save you,” Xavier said.
“I can’t touch him back home, but here in Afriska, I’m the top dog, the king of this place. If he really dares to come here for you, I’ll make sure he disappears for good, never to return home,” Xavier added.
Cassian said, “You really think you can go after Jackson here in Afriska? Aren’t you worried that Granpa will suspect you?”
Xavier and his dad run their business right here in Afriska. If anything happened to Jackson, Gerry would definitely look at Xavier’s family first.
Xavier sneered, “Come on, if Jackson really died, even if Grandpa was furious, would he actually take out another one of his grandsons himself? If it were you or that loser Pierre, maybe he’d do it. But me? No way. Grandpa would never touch me.”
Xavier was totally sure of his place in Gerry’s eyes.
If it weren’t for Jackson, he’d be the one Gerry trusted most to inherit the Thornton family.
Even Felix couldn’t hold a candle to him.
If it weren’t for Jackson, he and his dad wouldn’t be stuck running things in Afriska.
“Keep a close eye on this idiot. Don’t let him slip away! Next month, let Jackson know Cassian’s been kidnapped and dragged to Afriska. Tell him if he doesn’t want his brother dying far from home, he has to come to Afriska himself to save him,” Xavier ordered.

Chapter 163
One of Xavier’s men asked cautiously, “Boss, do you want Jackson to come alone?”
Xavier sneered, “No need. It doesn’t matter how many people he brings.”
Because he was the king of Afriska.
In Afriska, Jackson was just a bug under his boot. He could squash him anytime he wanted.
“Yes, sir,” the man replied.

The next day, when Victoria was having breakfast, she got a notification of a fresh bank transfer. She instantly knew the batch of medicines she’d asked Alexis to auction off had fetched a high price again.
Sixty million.
Now that was a solid profit!
Still riding high on her good news, Victoria got a message from Annie.
It was a bunch of screenshots of her chats with Gavin.
Gavin was, as always, bragging and talking nonsense–full of himself and clueless as ever.
Like: [Victoria, listen up. My dad made me work as a delivery guy. Looks like he wants me to give up on you, but actually, he thinks I’m special–wants me to tough it out at the bottom so I’ll be ready to take over the Fairbank family business someday.]
[Sticking with me now? That’s a high–potential investment! I’m worth way more than that cripple Jackson!]
[Once I inherit the Fairbank family business, we’ll crush the Thornton family and become the biggest name in Benwig City. As my girl, you’ll be the top lady in the whole city!]
[Pretty thrilling, huh? Bet you can’t wait!]
[You and Jackson are just engaged. As long as you haven’t walked down the aisle or made it official, you can still change your mind! The Fairbank family’s door is always open for you!]
Annie’s reply was just as blunt:[I don’t buy it! I heard your big sister Lena is way more capable than you. Unless your dad’s brain got eaten by you, there’s no way he’d hand the family business to you. That’s like tossing a meat bun to a dog. Once it’s gone, it’s never coming back!]
[What makes you think you’re worth more than Jack? Is it your skin that’s thicker than a city wall, or your brain that’s fit for the recycling bin?]
[First lady of Benwig City? Please, you’ll be the biggest joke in Benwig City!]
At the end of the chat screenshots, Annie sent another message:[Victoria, Gavin totally thinks he’s been talking to me this whole time, so you’re off the hook. He won’t bug you anymore!]

Annie replied: [It’s fine! Honestly, chatting with him is pretty entertaining. Whenever I’m annoyed, I just use him as my personal dumping ground and take it all out on him!]
After finishing her chat with Annie, Victoria finished her breakfast and headed out to the garden.
To her surprise, Simon was standing right in front of the garden. His hair was a bit wet from the morning mist. He must’ve been waiting there for ages.
As soon as he saw her, Simon spoke up, “Victoria, remember when I helped you set up this garden? You said I did a good job, so if you need help, just ask…”
Victoria gave him a look of pure disdain. “Did you really not realize I was just mocking you?”
“Of course, you knew. Now you’re so desperate to stay alive, you’ve thrown your pride out the window, haven’t you?” she asked.
“Did the poison in your body flare up last night? Did it hurt so bad you wanted to die?” she pressed.
Simon must’ve spent the whole night psyching himself up. When Victoria finished talking, he didn’t look embarrassed or humiliated at all. Instead, he gave her a meek, almost self–deprecating smile, like he was begging for a bit of mercy.
“The poison you gave me was brutal. Last night, I almost couldn’t take it–I seriously thought about just smashing my head against the wall and ending it. But then I remembered all the crap I’ve done to you. If I died, I’d never get a chance to make it right, so I stuck it out,” Simon said.
Victoria was honestly disgusted and snorted. “Simon, come on. You’re just terrified of dying, and you actually have the guts to claim it’s all about making it up to me? Give me a break.”
“I told you, you only get one chance to have a real conversation with me. If you can talk me into giving you the antidote, that’s your skill. But from what I see, you’re not even making the most of it,” she said.
The poison Victoria gave Simon wasn’t deadly, but it would hit him in waves, making him feel like dying was the only way out. If the pain got too much, he’d rather end it all himself just to escape.
So if Simon ever died, it wouldn’t be the poison that killed him. It’d be him smashing his head against the wall or taking his own life some other way, like he mentioned himself.
That way, Victoria wouldn’t be seen as a murderer. Even if Darell and Julia tried to pin it on her, they’d have nothing to go on.
Simon didn’t flinch at her words. He locked eyes with Victoria, his voice unwavering. “After suffering through that hell last night, I finally get it. Victoria, whether you believe me or not, I’ll show you I really regret what I did and want to make it up to you. Even if it means throwing away my life, I’m ready for it.”
Victoria snorted, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Wow, what a grand speech. Almost had me convinced, Simon. I can give you the antidote, but whether you actually get it depends on how you handle this last
chance.”

She stepped up to Simon, held out her hand, and said, “Give me your phone. Unlock it first.”
Simon looked a little puzzled, but he followed her instructions, took out his phone, unlocked it, and gave it to her.
Once she had the phone, Victoria went straight to the call log, found Angelica’s number, and dialed it.
The call connected, and Angelica’s gentle voice came through.
“Hey, big brother, is something wrong?”
Victoria tilted her head back, a mocking smile curling on her lips as she looked at Simon. “I can cure the poison in just one of you–either you or your sister, Angelica. So, what’s your choice, Simon? Are you saving yourself, or your little sister?”
