Chapter 165
Angelica stopped in her tracks, turning to Simon with red–rimmed eyes. “Simon…”

Seeing her hesitate, Simon’s heart softened. He stepped forward and gently patted her shoulder, his voice soft and comforting. “Angelica, don’t blame yourself. I failed to protect you, so it’s only right that you get the antidote.”
Angelica shook her head quickly. “It’s not your fault, Simon. It was all because Cassian acted on his own that Victoria got the chance to hurt me. I’m the one who dragged you down. If I hadn’t been poisoned, you’d be the one getting the antidote…”
As she spoke, her eyes grew misty, tears threatening to spill.
“Don’t say that. Go find Victoria and get the antidote before she changes her mind,” Simon said, pausing for a moment. “And about what I said to Victoria about you leaving the family…”
Angelica cut him off, her voice urgent. “Simon, I get it. You only said that to Victoria to use as leverage, so she’d agree to help me. It’s just a temporary fix. Of course, I know you’re just looking out for me.”
“I’m glad you understand,” Simon said, nodding slightly. “Angelica, don’t worry about it too much. For now, just go to the hospital and be there for Curtis. As for where you’ll stay, I’ll have my assistant sort it all out today.”
Angelica choked back her tears. “Simon, thank you for letting me be the one to get the antidote… If I miss you, can I come visit you
often?”
Simon shook his head. “Until I’m cured, it’s better if you don’t come back for now. If you miss me, I’ll come see you.”
Angelica pressed her lips together, her reluctance obvious. After a long pause, she finally choked out, “I understand.”
Simon looked weary, “Alright, that’s enough for now. Go find Victoria and get the antidote, then head to the hospital and stay with Curtis. Victoria’s in the garden out back. You’ll find her there.”
Angelica nodded firmly. “Okay.”
As she walked out the villa gates, the thought of finally getting the antidote and having her looks back made her steps feel lighter than ever.
When she reached the backyard, Angelica spotted Victoria right away, crouched down, and was busy in the garden.
‘Figures. She’s just a country bumpkin who grew up outside the family. Even after coming back to the Binder family, she still can’t shake those old habits–tending a vegetable patch in a luxury estate, Angelica scoffed to herself.
With that thought, Angelica lifted her chin and called out, “Victoria, I’m here for the antidote.”
Victoria didn’t even turn around. She just said, “Wait.”
Angelica didn’t get mad. She just found a spot outside the fence and stood there, watching Victoria work, her gaze full of smug satisfaction.
After making sure no one else was around and that the distance would let Victoria barely hear her but make it impossible to record clearly, Angelica grinned slyly. “Victoria, bet you’re angry right now, huh?”
Victoria’s hand paused over the seeds as she was fertilizing them. She guessed Angelica was up to her usual drama and mocked, “Oh? And what exactly do you think I’m mad about?”
Angelica’s grin widened. “Stop acting tough. You called me just now and made Simon choose between you and me. Wasn’t that just to see who he’d pick? Too bad, even with my face ruined and Simon poisoning himself, he still picked me, the adopted sister with no real connection to him.”

Chapter 165
“Look at you, what a loser you are. No matter how talented you are or how hard you try to stir things up between me, Simon, and Curtis, you still end up ignored and overlooked. Pathetic, isn’t it?” Angelica added.
But Victoria didn’t say a word.
Angelica kept pestering her, not letting up.
“What’s wrong? Got nothing to say? Did I get you so good you can’t even talk back?”
Seeing Victoria still stay silent, Angelica felt even more smug. ‘Ha! I finally got the upper hand over Victoria!‘ she thought to herself.
Time slipped by, and before she realized it, a whole hour had passed. At last, Victoria finished up in the garden, stretched her back with a tired sigh, and stood up, rubbing her sore waist.
Having to stand there doing nothing for a whole hour, Angelica’s patience was shot.
She forced herself to stay calm and pressed, “Victoria, you promised Simon you’d help me with the antidote, so can you just hurry up and give me the antidote already? Stop stalling. I still have to go see Curtis at the hospital later.”
She knew Victoria was deliberately making her wait, but there was nothing she could do. She had to play nice, no matter how annoyed she was, because she needed Victoria’s help.
Victoria still kept silent. She peeled off her gloves, caked with dirt and residue, then walked straight toward Angelica, who was waiting impatiently by the fence.
When she got close, Victoria, expressionless, delivered a brutal slap right to Angelica’s face.
Victoria’s slap was lightning–fast and vicious. Angelica never saw it coming, and the blow sent her reeling.
Her sunglasses went flying, landing on the ground with a loud crack. Her mask shifted, exposing half her face–red, swollen, and utterly shocked.
Angelica’s eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Victoria, rage flaring up inside her.
“Victoria! What’s that supposed to mean?” she snapped.
Before she could explode, Victoria’s mocking voice cut in. “Why are you yelling? You want to miss out on the antidote?”
That was like a bucket of ice water dumped right over her, instantly snuffing out her anger. Angelica bit her lip hard, her eyes full of frustration and unwillingness, but she kept her mouth shut.
Victoria’s lips curled into a mocking half–smile. She blew on her palm, still warm from the slap, and said, “Why don’t you tell me again, who’s really the pitiful one now?”
Angelica kept her lips tightly shut, glared daggers at Victoria, but stubbornly refused to say a single word.
“You just got slapped by me and still can’t say a word, and you still dare call me pathetic? Is Simon’s attention really that precious to you?” Victoria sneered. “Angelica, if earning loads of money on my own is pathetic, if inheriting the Binder family’s wealth is pathetic, if marrying the best–looking, most successful guy in the city is pathetic, then fine, I’m pathetic. But hey, I guess I can’t compete with your kind of happiness–about to get kicked out of the Binder family, clinging to some guy, and even after I slap you, you just have to grit your teeth and take it.”
Angelica’s face was frozen with fury, twisted in anger as she glared daggers at Victoria.
Victoria’s lips curled into a contemptuous smile. She slowly drew out a delicate bottle from her coat pocket, gave it a little shake, and the antidote inside made a crisp sound against the bottle.
“That slap was really satisfying, so I’m feeling generous. Here’s your antidote as a prize!” Victoria sneered, her eyes dripping

with mockery.
Just as Angelica reached out, desperate to get the antidote, Victoria flicked her wrist and flung the bottle to the ground as if she were tossing out garbage.
“You want the antidote so badly? Well, go ahead, pick it up and swallow it,” Victoria said, arms crossed, her face twisted in a mocking smirk.
