Chapter 180

Seeing Daisy’s five brothers were really about to forcefully cut off his finger, Darell was helpless.

After asking his wife, Julia, to call the family doctor, he grabbed the dull knife nearby, aimed it at his pinky finger, gritted his teeth, and slashed down fiercely.

Darell hissed in pain.

Because the knife was so dull, his first attempt barely went deep. It only managed to cut through the surface of his skin and flesh.

Even so, the pain was so overwhelming that he nearly passed out, and his hand holding the knife loosened.

Julia couldn’t bear to watch any longer. With tears in her eyes, she shook her head and said, “Darell, stop…”

Thea sneered, “If he won’t do it, then you do it for him! You two are husband and wife–birds of a feather, meant to share the pain!”

Hearing that, Julia’s throat tightened. She stared at the dull knife in Darell’s hand, and couldn’t even picture how much it would hurt if that blade came down on her own hand.

She loved Darell and couldn’t stand to see him in so much pain, but she just couldn’t bring herself to take his place and endure that agony.

Simon had wanted to step forward and volunteer to do it for his father, but as he tried to move, he remembered that one of his legs was already useless.

If he had to cut off a finger, too, he’d really be a wreck; his body would be totally trashed.

In the end, he let go of that thought.

Suddenly, Julia had an idea. She looked up at Angelica, who had been standing silently next to Simon, and said urgently, “Angelica, how about you cut off a finger for your dad instead?”

Angelica froze. If it weren’t for the mask covering her face, everyone would have seen just how sour and disgusted her expression was.

Julia pressed, “So, what do

you think?”

Angelica shot back, “What do you mean, what do I think?” Her mind was spinning.

‘Is this old woman out of her mind? She actually wants me to chop off a finger for Darell?‘ Angelica raged inwardly.

Victoria let out a mocking laugh but kept quiet. ‘Just cutting off one of Darell’s fingers, and their whole family is already falling apart. Ridiculous, she thought.

‘Ridiculous,‘ she scoffed inwardly.

Annie couldn’t help but roast them, “Come on, didn’t you guys always spoil your adopted daughter Angelica? You even ditched your real daughter for her! Now all that’s at stake is your husband’s finger, and you’re trying to make Angelica take the hit? She’s young, your husband’s already middle–aged. Making the young one suffer for the old? That’s just messed up!”

Victoria snickered, “That really stirs things up.”

Jackson laughed, “Annie, if you’re on a roll, keep it coming.”

Chapter 180

“You got it, Jackson!” Annie flashed an OK sign, feeling proud. T’m here to make things even more miserable for Darell’s family on behalf of Vickic, so of course I’m gonna stir the pot!‘ she thought.

Julia shot Annie a fierce, tearful glare. “Stay out of our family drama!”

Annie shrugged shamelessly, “I’ll say whatever I want. It’s not like you can stop me”

ulia was so angry, her chest tightened with rage.

Seeing that Angelica didn’t respond, Julia ignored Annie and pressed on urgently, “Angelica, your dad and I have raised you or so long. Isn’t it time you repaid him? It’s just one finger. It won’t affect you at all…”

Have they lost their minds?‘ Angelica raged inside.

How is losing a finger not a big deal?‘ she scoffed to herself.

For someone young and good–looking like me, that’s a massive deal!‘

It’s not like Darell. He’s already an old guy. Missing a finger wouldn’t even matter for him!‘

Angelica was torn, wondering if she should pull her usual trick–make a show of volunteering, hoping to win some pity and get out of it like before. But this time, if she really agreed to cut off her own finger for Darell, he might actually let her go hrough with it, and she’d have no way to back out.

She hesitated, her lips twitching. “Mom, I…”

Before Angelica could finish, Simon interjected, “Mom, Angelica’s already suffered enough. Her looks haven’t even recovered from the poison yet. How could you possibly make her endure the pain of losing a finger on top of that…”

Hearing Simon come to her defense, Angelica felt a wave of relief wash over her.

[ulia couldn’t believe her eldest son was siding with Angelica on this. She stared at Simon in disbelief. “Simon, can you really stand to see your dad suffer like this?”

Simon was left speechless.

Honestly, he just couldn’t see any sense in making Angelica go through that.

Angelica was scared out of her mind that she might actually be forced to lose a finger for Darell, so she decided to take a chance. “Mom, I could take the hit for Dad and cut off my own finger, but…would Thea and her sons even go for that?”

As she said this, Angelica looked over at Julian and Thea and their five sons, silently praying they’d focus on the real culprit behind Daisy’s kidnapping and wouldn’t bother coming after her.

Thea turned to Daisy, looking for her take.

Daisy turned to Victoria and asked what she thought.

Victoria shook her head. She wasn’t about to let Angelica take the punishment for Darell. She’d deal with Angelica when

Curtis was awake.

Once Curtis revealed Angelica’s true colors, Darell’s family would regret their choices.

They’d blame Angelica for everything that happened today, and in their fury, they’d take matters into their own hands.

By then, losing a finger would be the least of Angelica’s worries.

Thea caught on immediately and snapped, “That’s right. We want a finger from either you or your husband. Don’t even think about making your adopted daughter stand in! Her finger won’t cut it

“Quit stalling! If you don’t cut it off now, we’ll do it for you! the eldest Fisher brother, Spencer Fisher, snapped impatiently.

The second brother, Mike Fisher, chimed in. Hurry up! We don’t have the patience to watch you fight like dogs! If you wanna keep biting at each other, wait till we’re outta here!”

Julia was out of options. She gave Darell a heartbroken look and didn’t say another word

Darell couldn’t bring himself to do it anymore. He held out the knife toward his son. “Simon, help me. Cut it for me.

Simon was stunned for a moment, then slowly stepped forward. He took the bloodied knife, hovering it over the spot Darell had already sliced open.

He hesitated for what felt like forever, but with the Fishers barking at him to hurry up, he finally steeled himself and brought the blade down.

Julia turned away, unable to bear watching any longer.

But the knife was so dull, it still couldn’t sever Darell’s finger. He was drenched in cold sweat, his face twisted in agony.

Annie snorted, “Wow, you two grown men can’t even chop off a finger? Are you guys useless or what?”

Julia was helpless, so she snapped, “Can you just shut up already?”

Annie shook her head. “No way, you can’t do anything about it.”

Julia trembled with fury.

Just then, Victoria said with a smirk, “If you can’t cut it off, just smash it with something.”

Jackson snickered, “Vickie, how considerate!”

Victoria flashed a wicked grin and sneered, “Of course, anything for my dear uncle.”

‘Considerate? Please, that’s just schadenfreude in disguise!‘ Julia thought bitterly, her chest growing tighter with every passing second.

But right now, she couldn’t do a thing about Annie, and she was even more powerless against Jackson and Victoria. All she could do was grit her teeth and endure it in silence.

Simon couldn’t stand to see his father suffer any longer, so he actually took Victoria’s advice.

He turned around, rummaged through the drawer in the TV cabinet, and pulled out a small hammer. Taking a deep breath, he slammed the hammer down onto the knife.

“Aaaah-!”

The

scream, raw with terror and pain, echoed through the living room.

With a sickening snap, Darell’s pinky finger was ripped from his hand, his agonized scream tearing through the air.

Blood sprayed everywhere, splattering the table bright red.
