Chapter 193
Ollie just shot a glance at Faye as she approached, his eyes completely indifferent. He pushed Jackson’s wheelchair towar the small house out back.
Meanwhile, Faye trailed after them.
“Of course. Who else would be the Thornton family’s heir if not me? Cassian?” Jackson said.
Faye knew he was just fishing for her answer, so she went straight to the point. “Definitely not the useless Cassian. It’s my brother, Xavier.”
The wheelchair rolled over the gravel path, making a rhythmic clacking sound.
Jackson tapped his fingers on the armrest and chuckled. “Your brother would be better off banished to Afriska.
The word “banished” sounded way too harsh, and Faye got even more annoyed. “Jackson, all you do now is run your mou What else can you even do? You can’t even walk on your own, gotta have your assistant push you everywhere.”
Jackson replied, “Managing a company takes brains, not legs.”
Faye admired the gardens of the old estate as she spoke. “Maybe in other rich families, having a cripple as the heir wouldr be a big deal. But the Thornton family is the most powerful name in the capital’s elite circles.
“Every little thing we do gets scrutinized by everyone. Do you really think making someone in a wheelchair the heir won’t turn us into everyone’s joke?”
She continued, “Grandpa cares so much about the family’s reputation. If he really didn’t care about your legs, he would’ve announced you as the heir right at your engagement party with Victoria, instead of waiting three months.”
As they crossed the arched bridge over the artificial stream, Faye smirked. “Jackson, you don’t actually believe Grandpa’s waiting three months just for Victoria to help you recover, do you? He’s really giving the other brothers time to prove they can replace you.”
Jackson was quiet for a bit, and once they were off the bridge, he suddenly asked, “You keep saying Grandpa’s giving the other brothers a shot at replacing me. But have you ever thought about taking my place yourself?”
Faye hadn’t expected Jackson to throw that at her, and for a second, she was caught off guard.
She really had never thought about it before. As a woman, there was no point of fighting for power.
Faye pulled herself together, steadying her nerves. “Jackson, you don’t really think you can turn me against my brother with that, do you?”
Jackson let out a helpless sigh, his curiosity showing. “I’m honestly just wondering. I just got back from the Binder family.. and I saw with my own eyes how my fiancée managed to take control of the Binder family.”
Seeing Faye frown, he continued, “If you think being a woman means you can’t fight for power, let me tell you, Mr. Binder said in front of me today that Vickie is going to run the family. If she can do it, why can’t you?”
Jackson spoke offhandedly, but his words unsettled Faye, making her rethink everything.
Growing up, no one ever told her she could compete for the family’s legacy.
She’d been pampered all her life; there was nothing more she could possibly want. But if power was truly within her grasp, she would definitely go for it.

Faye shot him a wary look. “So, you’re telling me all this because you think I have a better shot at being the Thornton famil heir than my brother?”
Jackson looked up at her and grinned. “Nope, I’m telling you all this because I want to drive a wedge between you and your brother, Xavier. I want to see you two turn on each other.”
Ollie couldn’t help but choke and let out a cough.
Faye’s face flushed bright red. “Guess you really feel safe, Jackson. Still got time to mess with me, huh?”
Jackson chuckled. “Vickie’s got the skills to take over the Binder family, but you? You’re just here to boost your brother up, waiting for him to throw you whatever leftovers he feels like, just so you’ll stay content.”
Faye felt those words sting, they cut deeper than she’d care to admit.
“Don’t waste your breath. I’m not letting you get between me and my brother. We’ve always had each other’s backs, Faye said, forcing a smile even as she tried to swallow her anger.
Jackson just said, “Oh, is that so? Well, I think I’ve set the stage enough.”
“What?” Faye blinked, puzzled.
Jackson’s smile faded, and he said coolly, “Guess it’s time to kidnap you now.”
Before Faye could react, a silver needle shot out from the armrest of Jackson’s wheelchair and jabbed her in the neck.
She felt a sudden sting, and before she could even move, her head started to spin.
Her body went limp and she crumpled to the floor, eyelids heavy as she looked up at Jackson looming over her.
“You really dare to kidnap me? Right here in the family estate? Don’t you care if Grandpa finds out?” Faye stammered.
Jackson’s eyes stayed cool and steady. “Oh, I forgot to tell you, Grandpa’s not just waiting three months to announce the heir He’s also giving me enough time to clear out all the risks around me.
“Since you came right to me, I don’t even need to bother sending anyone to take you.”
Faye’s eyes widened in shock, but she couldn’t hold on any longer and passed out cold.
Jackson ran his fingers over a switch on the armrest, his eyes full of appreciation. ‘Vickie really outdid herself with these gadgets on my wheelchair, works like a charm.
“Lock her up,” Jackson said, and Ollie kept pushing the wheelchair forward.
Just then, a bodyguard stepped out from the old estate, bent down, and hoisted the unconscious Faye off the gravel path, carrying her out through the side door.
Back inside, Jackson gave his orders. “Ollie, get someone to wait at the front gate. When Donald gets back, beat him so badly he needs to be hospitalized. I don’t want to see him.”
“Got it,” Ollie replied.
Ollie had never been able to stand Donald. If it weren’t for the fact that Donald was the Jackson’s father, he would’ve already had someone beat him up in private.

Chapter 193
After dropping Donald and Sibley off at their destination, Faye’s driver, Reid, headed off.
Donald took Sibley to the apartment Faye had arranged, unlocking the door with the key she’d given him.
The place was small, maybe just over 400 square feet inside.
Sibley scrunched up her face, totally unimpressed. “Ugh, this place is tiny.”

She’d spent three years living at the Thornton family’s estate, and that place was on a whole different level, like some ancier prince’s mansion, super grand and full of style.
As soon as the door closed, Sibley looked up at her dad, Donald, practically begging. “Dad, I can still go back to the old house, right?”
Donald patted Sibley’s head and sighed. “Right now, the main thing is to find your brother. What really worries me is if Jackson’s got him.
“The Thornton family is a mess right now. Let’s let the others fight it out with Jackson. Once they’ve beaten each other up, your brother can just sit back and reap the benefits.
“So you’ll have to deal with it for now. Faye’s only helping us because she wants to use us against Jackson. For these three months, just do whatever she tells you. As long as we can get back at Jackson, it’s still good for us.”
Sibley nodded. “Dad, I get it. Before I came back to the family, I already spent so much time out there on my own. Three more months is nothing, I can handle it.”
Donald smiled, satisfied. “That’s my girl.”
After settling Sibley in, Donald grabbed a cab and headed back to the Thornton family’s estate.
He really had no choice. Jackson had even confiscated his car, so now he was stuck taking taxis everywhere.
The more Donald thought about it, the more frustrated he got. ‘Unbelievable! I’m his dad, and he treats me like some nobody.
‘When I get back, I’m definitely going to give Jackson a piece of my mind just to blow off some steam!‘
When Donald got back to the family estate and stepped through the front gate, two bodyguards suddenly stood right in his
way.
