In a shadowy secret room in Afriska, Xavier listened to Jackson’s hints over the phone and finally knew for sure that Jackson was the one who had kidnapped his sister.
When Xavier spoke again, his voice had a chill to it. “I have no idea of Cassian’s whereabouts. Didn’t he get dragged off for a beating that day? Maybe those guys messed up and killed him, dumped him somewhere nobody cares about
“Jackson, after all Cassian did to you, why bother worrying about him? Wouldn’t it be better if he were gone for good?”
From Jackson’s end came what sounded like a soft sigh, and in a tone of helpless resignation, he said, “No matter what he’s still my brother. Even if he’s dead, I need to find his body.”
Xavier scoffed to himself. He knew Jackson had kidnapped Faye, but he couldn’t say it outright. “Alright. If I hear anything about Cassian, I’ll inform you right away. And if you have any news about my sister, let me know as soon as you can.” Xavier said.
“Okay.” Jackson replied.
After hanging up, Xavier kicked the coffee table over in front of him. He felt completely stifled. ‘Goddamn, this was so fucking humiliating!‘ he cursed inwardly.
“Shit! I never expected Jackson, that cripple, to pull a move like this!” Xavier spat. All his plans, waiting for Jackson to come to Afriska for Cassian, were wasted. Everything he had prepared was for nothing.
Xavier’s men dropped to their knees, shaking with fear. Elio, Xavier’s trusted right–hand man, watched Xavier’s expression carefully and asked, “Xavier, what now? Should we release him?”
Xavier clenched his fists, staring at Cassian sprawled in the corner like a dead dog. “What else do you expect me to do? You’re gonna rescue my sister from Jackson?”
Zhang Teya fell silent. Xavier, furious and with nowhere to vent, stormed over to Cassian and kicked him hard. “Damn it, you useless trash! You’ve wasted so much of my time!”
Cassian lay on the floor, writhing in pain. Regret hit him hard. He regretted having given up the good life he had with the Thornton family, all for chasing after power that was never meant for him.
Is the heir’s position in the Thornton family really that easy to snatch? Even if I somehow manage to eliminate Jackson, what about the rest of the Thorntons? How do I handle them? I’ve been so damn naive!
This time, if I could make it out of this mess alive, I’ll do anything at all to get Jackson to forgive me, so I can go back to living the high life again, he thought to himself.
After venting his anger on Cassian with repeated kicks, Xavier sat back down in his chair and snapped coldly. “Elio, ship this useless trash back home tomorrow.”
“Xavier, I’ve got an idea. We can still make use of Cassian, and maybe get Faye back too,” Elio said, stepping forward with a box of premium cigars.
“What idea? Xavier asked, frowning as he grabbed a cigar and stuck it in his mouth.
Elio pulled out a lighter, lit Xavier’s cigar, then said, “Have you read the news from back home lately?”
Xavier, impatient, said, “Just get to the point.
Elio hurried on, “Bater from the Clark family got thrown in jail. Someone exposed that the Clarks were trafficking slave

labor to their mines in Husmindare. The Clark family cut him off, dumped all the blame on him, and Miranda even personally handed her own son over to the police.”
Xavier sneered. “No doubt about it; this must be Jackson’s doing. No one else would have the guts to piss off the Clark family right now. At a time like this? Jackson must really have a death wish.”
While he thought Jackson was being an idiot, what really pissed him off was how Jackson clearly didn’t take him seriously.
Jackson knew well that he and Felix were waiting for a shot at the heir’s position, and Jackson still dared to poke the Clark family. It was like he didn’t even see them as a threat.
After a pause, Xavier asked, “And then?”
Elio continued, “Xavier, all you need to do is let Jackson know you’ve released Cassian. But we can think of a way not to return Cassian to Jackson; we can hand him over to Nathan instead, turning this into a favor for him.”
XavieTM understood immediately. After a brief pause, he agreed, “Alright, do it your way. Just ensure my sister is safe.
Elio guaranteed, “Don’t worry, Xavier. I’ll get it done.”
Victoria had caught every word of Jackson and Xavier’s call. She was immersed in her acupuncture work, hands never stopping. “Xavier should’ve figured out you kidnapped his sister, and he’s probably losing his mind right now.
“But would he really go so far as to throw his own sister under the bus just to deal with you?” she asked.
Jackson calmly put his phone away and said, “If things got really desperate and he had to trade his sister’s life for his own, he’d probably ditch his own sister to save his own skin.
“But just to trade for my life, he probably hasn’t steeled himself enough, at least for now, to be that ruthless and heartless.”
Victoria chuckled. “You’re really covering your bases with that ‘for now.” After speaking, she stopped and closed up her needle kit.
Noticing Victoria had stopped, Jackson asked, confused, “Why aren’t you continuing the acupuncture?”
He had watched Victoria treat him for over half a month now, and he had memorized exactly how many needles she used each time and where every single one was placed. But today, she had used noticeably fewer needles than before.
Victoria explained, “Your leg was injured by an external impact, which caused fractures in the bones and damage to the surrounding tissues. Normally, after setting the bones and a few months of recovery, you’d be back on your feet.
“But your leg wasn’t just broken; someone injected a necrosis agent into your muscles and tendons. If it were anyone else. there’d be no way to fix it.”
Her words made Jackson remember how, when his leg was first broken, his father, Donald, had run around desperately trying to find the best doctors. But in the end, they all said his leg was beyond cure.
Looking back now, Jackson realized Donald hadn’t been running around to save his leg at all. He had been scheming, pulling every trick he could to make sure Jackson’s leg would never heal.
Victoria’s voice snapped Jackson bark to the present. “Lucky for you, you found me. Your damaged tendons and muscles are finally starting to recover.
“From now on, we don’t need to go all out with the acupuncture every time Just some simple needles, a bit of acupressure. and make sure you get up and move around more often.”

After she finished speaking, Jackson asked, “So, am I supposed to get someone professional to give me a leg massage now?”
Victoria packed up her needle kit and said, “Nobody else knows how to hit the right spots for you.”
Jackson said, grinning, “So, Vickie, you’re gonna be the one working on my legs?” Just picturing Vickie’s hands rubbing his legs, Jackson couldn’t help but feel his heart race a little.
Victoria instantly smiled. “It’s not me who’s gonna do it.”
Jackson’s smile faltered. “Then…”
“Greenie, Whitey, come on out!” Victoria chirped, opening her bag. Greenie and Whitey immediately slithered out. Seeing this, Jackson was utterly speechless.
Victoria instructed the two snakes, “From now on, you two are going to give Jack a leg massage, just like I taught you, hit all the right spots.”
Whitey, the obedient one, was the first to slither onto Jackson’s right leg. Greenie, clearly reluctant, but didn’t want to upset Victoria, reluctantly crawled onto Jackson’s left foot.
Jackson was at a loss for words again. The imagined scene of having physical contact with Victoria was completely shattered.
