“Of course Nathan is willing to splurge big bucks for Lexi,” someone joked.
“But honestly, I don’t think Lexi really fits the role. She’s better suited for those spoiled, willful heiress types. Viara has that tough, resilient vibe,” another person chimed in.
“Still, if you look at all the popular actresses right now, Lexi is probably the closest match,” someone else added.
“Anyway, whether she’s the perfect fit or not, this master author’s work is almost guaranteed to land with Gale Entertainment. After all, Nathan is personally stepping in,” another person remarked.
Curtis stood with his hands shoved in his coat pockets, wearing a serious look as he watched Nathan show up at the event.
He knew Nathan had been pulling every trick lately to snatch Brightstar Entertainment’s resources, including the ‘Chasing the Dream‘ project..
Too bad for Nathan, his plans were about to flop.
Victoria was sure to secure the rights to ‘Chasing the Dream‘ for Brightstar Entertainment today.
After all, Victoria is Viara herself.
There were twenty–five entertainment companies at the ‘Chasing the Dream‘ rights auction. Sixteen were from Benwig City. and the other nine had traveled in from other cities just for this event.
At this moment, all twenty–five company representatives were already in place, seated in the spots assigned by the organizers.
Gale Entertainment sent Justin Lowe himself, his secretary, and Marty Howell, the business manager who’d just switched over from Brightstar Entertainment.
Justin brought Marty along specifically to take a jab at Victoria.
After glancing around the venue, Marty grinned and said, “Mr. Lowe, Victoria didn’t show up. Brightstar Entertainment sent the secretary who used to work for Simon, and she’s got a woman with her, probably a newly signed artist.”
Justin turned to Nathan, piling on the praise. “Nathan, see for yourself, Victoria’s nothing but a paper tiger. She didn’t even dare show up to compete with us for the project. ‘Chasing the Dream‘ is practically in the bag.”
With Victoria nowhere to be seen, Nathan’s expression eased, a hint of triumph flickering in his eyes.
Just last night, Victoria was full of bravado on the phone, swearing she’d never bow to him. Who would’ve thought she’d lose her nerve and back out at the last minute?
He let out a cold laugh. “Looks like she’s really just a paper tiger, all show, no substance. Not even worth worrying about
Justin continued flattering him. “Exactly. Who in Benwig City would dare challenge you now, Nathan‘ Even Jackson the former golden boy, has to think twice. After all, he’s just a cripple these days, can’t even get around without someone pushing him.”
Nathan soaked up the flattery, clearly relishing every bit of it.
There was nothing sweeter than having Jackson under his heel.
Soon, no one would ever call him the eternal runner–up to Jackson again.

After parking in the Mimiburg underground lot. Victoria stepped into the elevator and said. “Jack, head to the event and wait for me. I need to grab some proof that I’m Viara, the author.”
Jackson nodded. “Got it. I booked the Rio Private Room on the second floor. I’ll wait for you there.”
“Okay.” Victoria replied.
After Ollie wheeled Jackson out of the elevator, Victoria continued up to the fifth–floor office.
When Victoria arrived, the Mimiburg manager pulled a file from the cabinet. “Boss, this is the information Mara retrieved from the organization about your Viara identity.”
Victoria took the folder, sat down on the couch, and opened it. Inside were the manuscript for ‘Chasing the Dream‘ and the contract with the website.
After making sure nothing was missing, Victoria carefully put the manuscript and contract back in the folder.
“Oh, and boss, Mara also said the Clark family is up to some shady business again,” the manager added, pulling out a few photos and a sheet of information.
“This is a new aphrodisiac the Clark family developed at their overseas club. Supposedly, it combines the effects of a potent drug and traditional aphrodisiacs. Once someone gets a taste, they’ll crave it night after night, losing all self–control and becoming completely enslaved by desire. In the end, they might end up trafficked to Brunswick for bidding.”
“If this drug ever hits the domestic market, who knows how many innocent girls will fall victim to it,” the manager said.
Victoria gripped the file on the new aphrodisiac, her eyes colder than steel after reading it. ‘So the Clark family thinks they can ever go legit? No way. If they try to clean up, what else do they have to fight the Thornton family with? Their only real advantage is these dirty, underground businesses,‘ she thought, her lips curling in disdain.
She flung the file onto the coffee table, her voice chilling to the bone. “Give me two months. I’ll make sure the Clark family goes down hard.”
The live stream for the ‘Chasing the Dream‘ rights auction had just kicked off, and the viewer count slowly climbed until it reached a hundred thousand.
Suddenly, a figure appeared on screen, and the chat exploded with comments.
Who’s that guy in the wheelchair? He’s so handsome!]
[You don’t know? That’s Jackson Thornton, heir to the Thornton family, one of Benwig City’s elite clans. He used to be the pride of Benwig City, but two months ago, he lost the use of his legs in an accident.]
[Oh no, that’s such a shame‘]
[But why’s Jackson at this event? Is he after the ‘Chasing the Dream‘ rights too?]
[You guys seriously don’t know? Jackson’s engaged to Victoria, the real heiress of the Bunder family With Victor L rumming Brightstar Entertainment now, Jackson probably showed up to back her up, just in case she can’t snag the rights herself!
[Damn! This event just got way more hype! Nathan vs. Jackson, who’s gonna win this round? Is Nathan finally gonna dich that eternal runner–up” tag?]

Chapter 229
At the event on the first floor. Justin’s face suddenly changed. “Why is Jackson here? The Thornton family doesn’t even have any companies in the entertainment business.”
Nathan fixed his gaze on the elevator entrance, his eyes growing darker.
Justin’s secretary guessed, “Maybe he’s just here to show some support for Brightstar Entertainment and Victoria. Too bad she didn’t even have the guts to show up herself.”
Nathan let out a cold, dismissive remark. “Totally pointless.”
Jackson was about to head to the private room he’d booked upstairs when he caught Nathan’s stare. He raised his hand. signaling Ollie to pause, then turned to Nathan with a sly grin. “Well, Nathan, didn’t expect to see you here.”
Nathan met Jackson’s smirking gaze, lips pressed tight, refusing to say a word.
Jackson kept that teasing smile. “Heard from my people you’ve been awfully interested in my brother Cassian lately. Even sent someone to the airport to fetch him back the other day. What’s your plan with him, Nathan?”
At that, Nathan’s expression soured instantly.
Last time, he’d gotten a tip from Xavier and tried to have Cassian brought in, but the whole thing blew up in his face. Now, Jackson was rubbing salt in the wound, making him look like a fool all over again.
The representatives from Sky Media and Starlight Media started whispering to each other.
“Nathan’s got his eye on Cassian? What kind of ‘interest‘ are we talking about here?”
“You don’t think it’s like those rumors online about him and his uncle, do you…?”
‘Shh, keep your voice down! Unless you wanna end up on the Clark family’s blacklist, seriously.”
