Queen Of Revenge And Glory (Victoria and Jackson) novel Chapter 23

Just a little poison. I’m the only one with the antidote.” Victoria’s tone stayed light, almost casual. Don’t worry. It won’t kill you. It’ll just make you wish it did when it hits.

If you behave from now on, I’ll give you the antidote on time. If not, you’ll just have to keep suffering every time it flares

up.

Simon didn’t believe her. I’ve never heard of a poison like that.”

Before he could finish, Victoria snapped her fingers. In the next second, it felt like his insides were being twisted into knots.

The pain came out of nowhere, sharp and brutal, like something was tearing him apart from the inside. He wanted to die.

When it finally eased, he looked completely drained, as if every bit of strength had been pulled out of him.

He glared at Victoria. Furious, he clenched his teeth but didn’t dare say another word.

It was clear now. His life was in her hands. The thought crushed him. He slowly closed his eyes, despair settling in.

Victoria clapped her hands once. He’s badly hurt. I can’t send him back to the Binder family like this. Take him to your place for now. I’ll pick him up tomorrow.

All right.Jackson lifted a hand, signaling Ollie.

Ollie stepped forward without hesitation. He bent down, hauled Simon up, threw him over his shoulder, and carried him out of the abandoned factory.

The four bodyguards Simon had brought were taken away as well.

Soon, only Victoria and Jackson were left inside.

Now that it’s quiet, tell me your story,Victoria said, turning to him.

ackson smiled faintly. Sure. But this place isn’t exactly pleasant. Let me take you somewhere better.

Okay,Victoria said without hesitation.

The place Jackson had in mind was out on the outskirts, far from the city.

Mountains stood in the distance, and a narrow stream ran nearby, its water murmuring softly as it flowed. Not far from the stream stood a simple pavilion.

Don’t tell me you built this.Victoria leaned against one of the stone pillars and sat down. The evening breeze brushed past her as she stretched lazily.

Jackson nodded. Yeah. When I’m in a bad mood, I come here to clear my head.”

Victoria turned to look at him, a teasing smile on her lips. Before your legs were injured, what could you possibly have been

upset about?

You had money, status, and everything. Let me guess. Your biggest problem was having too much money and nowhere to spend it.

Chapter 23

The last light of the setting sun fell across Jackson’s face, tracing a faint golden edge along his features.

He let out a soft laugh. You’re not wrong. My life used to be smooth. No real setbacks. The worst I dealt with was my company not meeting my own expectations.

His smile faded slightly as he went on, Then the accident happened. I lost my legs. And overnight, everything changed.

All the respect and attention just disappeared. Now, all that’s left is people enjoying my downfall or keeping their distance. When they smile at me, it all feels fake.”

Victoria shrugged. That’s how it goes. When someone falls from the top, all that goodwill vanishes fast. Most people just kick you while you’re down. The ones who stick around are rare.

Jackson looked at her. Like you? Everyone else avoided me, but you didn’t.”

Me?Victoria paused, then laughed. Let’s say it’s mutual. I like your face, and you happen to have one worth looking at.”

As she spoke, she stood up, walked over, and crouched beside him. Let me check your legs.

Jackson smiled. Then I should be glad I lost my legs instead of my face.”

Victoria rolled up his pant legs and began examining them carefully. You should.”

Jackson let out a quiet chuckle, then started telling his story. Victoria finally found out what had really happened to his legs.

The Thornton family was large. In his father’s generation alone, there were five siblings.

His father, Donald Thornton, was the youngest and the least capable. He had been looked down on by his siblings since he

was young.

Things only changed when Jackson grew up. His talent far surpassed that of his cousins. Once he gained his grandfather’s approval, Ded’s position in the family improved as well.

I have a younger brother named Cassian,Jackson said. He’s five years younger than me. Not long after he was born, a fortune teller told my grandfather he’d bring bad luck to the family.

My grandfather made the decision to send him away. My mother tried to stop it, but she couldn’t. No one knew where he was sent. Only my grandfather and my father knew.

Jackson’s voice grew quieter. After he was taken away, my mother went out to look for him. She died in a car accident.

When I finally earned my grandfather’s approval, I used that chance to ask him to bring Cassian back. He agreed. Three years ago, Cassian came back. And with him came a girl from the same orphanage, Sibley.

She isn’t my real sister, but she stayed with Cassian all those years. I treated her like family. Last month, she was kidnapped. The kidnappers said I had to come alone if I wanted her back.

Victoria’s heart skipped a beat, and she raised an eyebrow. Don’t tell me you actually went alone.

Jackson gave a bitter smile. I wasn’t stupid enough to go completely unprepared. I had people follow me in secret. But somehow, the kidnappers knew.

Victoria frowned. Someone leaked it?

I didn’t have time to think about that back then,Jackson said. All I could think about was saving her. In the end, I went alone anyway.

His gaze drifted, as if seeing it all again. It was the same factory you were at today. They didn’t kill me. They broke my legs first, then left me there

Luckily, Ollie showed up in time with backup. He got both of us out.

Victoria listened, her expression slowly turning serious. From what you’re saying, it sounds like they were targeting you from the start. What did the investigation find?

Jackson’s smile finally showed a trace of bitterness. At first, I thought someone close to me had leaked the information. I never expected it would point to my own brother.

Cassian became the main suspect. At first, I couldn’t understand why he’d do something like that. But over the past month, I’ve stayed in my room, thinking it through again and again. I think I understand now.

Victoria had already pieced it together. He thinks it’s unfair. You grew up and enjoyed all the luxury in the Thornton family, but he had to survive in an orphanage. He blames you for everything he went through.

YeahJackson looked down at his legs, a faint smile on his lips. Maybe that’s exactly what he thinks. Should I take revenge on him?”
