Simon spent a good chunk of money to track down where the director was recovering–a peaceful resort down south.

He booked a flight for the next day, picked up some gifts, and went to visit the retired director in person.

Before heading out, he sent a message to Victoria.

[Victoria, I heard a lot of people have left the company, and Kevin just signed with Gale Entertainment. Don’t worry, I’ll you an even better director!]

After sending the message, Simon turned off his phone.

When the plane landed, he nervously turned his phone back on. As expected, there was no reply from Victoria.

The manager replied, “He went to Benwig City. A few days ago, he got a call asking him to come out of retirement and dir a new project. He agreed right away.”

‘Seriously? Someone already got to Frank before me?‘ Simon gritted his teeth.

‘Is there any way you could give me Mr. Baker’s phone number?” Simon asked.

The manager shook his head. “Sorry, that’s not possible. Mr. Baker made it clear we can’t share any of his info while he’s recovering. If he was still here and you managed to track him down, we’d probably get in trouble.”

“Alright, thanks for telling me,” Simon said, shoving the gifts into the manager’s hands. He turned and hurried down the mountain, checked his phone for the fastest flight, booked it right away, and rushed to the airport.

Frank replied in a half–joking, half–complaining tone, “Look at you! Never bothered to visit me, just sent medicine over to the resort every time. Always so busy, huh?”

“Frank, don’t give me a hard time. If I didn’t put in all that effort studying herbs, how could I keep making sure you had medicine for your recovery?” Victoria said, not feeling guilty at all. She set the cup in front of him and filled it up.

Frank couldn’t help but laugh, took a sip of tea, and sighed, “Honestly, if it weren’t for your medicine, I probably wouldn’t even be here to see you–let alone after three years.”

“Frank, don’t say stuff like that. You’ve been recovering for three years, and now you look really fit,” Victoria teased.

“That’s just because your medicine actually worked,” Frank said with a grateful sigh.

Back then, Frank made a name for himself in the industry with a hit period drama. But after three years with no follow–up people started doubting him. Some said he peaked too early, while others thought he must have had someone pulling strings behind the scenes.

In the fourth year, he directed another period drama, but with a different style. The quality and buzz were just as strong as

Victoria smiled. “Frank, do you already have somewhere to stay in Benwig City? If not, I can arrange a place for you at our family estate.”

Frank waved his hand. “No need to worry about that. My assistant already rented a suite for me at a resort hotel in Benwig City–booked it for the whole year.”

“Alright, just let me know if you need anything,” Victoria said.

After dropping Frank off and returning to the office, Victoria barely had time to sit down before Tracy rushed over, eyes wide in shock. “Ms. Binder, was that really Mr. Baker–the legend who was forced to step back right when his career was booming because of his illness?”

Victoria glanced at the marketing team. “Find the right moment and hype up Mr. Baker’s return as the director of Chasing the Dream. Make sure everyone knows he’s personally taking charge.”

“Got it, Ms. Binder!”

It was already 10 p.m. when Simon got off the plane. As soon as he turned on his phone, a message popped up.

But it wasn’t from Victoria–it was from a female staffer at Brightstar Entertainment.

[Simon, your sister just found a director to take over for Kevin!]

Simon’s heart skipped a beat–he suddenly got a strange sense of foreboding.

He grabbed it without thinking, and when he saw who sent it, his eyes shot open–like he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
