Chapter 264
As soon as the door closed, the woman next door finally remembered who he was.
Curtis Binder!‘ she thought, her heart skipping a beat.
That’s Curtis Binder!

Oh my god! I just ran into a pop star in real life! And not just any pop star, but one of the hottest ones right now!
‘He’s seriously good–looking in real life!‘ she couldn’t help but think, her eyes lingering on the door.
She’d never really liked Curtis before, always seeing all those scandals about him online. But now that she’d seen him in person, she suddenly thought, ‘All those rumors just don’t matter anymore–he’s way too good–looking!‘
Curtis could never do anything wrong!
No way, I’m not leaving this spot. If Curtis comes out, I’m getting his autograph and a selfie, no matter what!‘ She thought.
Inside, Curtis walked over to the coffee table, his face darkening as he saw it covered in empty beer bottles. “Simon, what the hell is going on? Why are you drinking so much?” he asked, his voice edged with irritation.
He’d always respected Simon, never once speaking to him like this before.
3ut this time, he just couldn’t stand by and watch anymore.
Simon slumped onto the couch, looking utterly defeated. He said weakly, “Just drinking to numb the pain, what else?”
Is this about Vickie?” Curtis asked, his tone softening.
Why else do you think?” Simon let out a bitter laugh. “I’m not sure how much longer I can take this. The poison she gave me s eating me alive. Looks like Vickie really wants me dead.”
Curtis frowned, his voice tense. “So what exactly did you do afterwards?”
Simon shook his head. “No point talking about it. It’s already done–telling you won’t help.”
Simon, don’t give up. There’s still a chance,” Curtis said, trying to comfort him.
You’re not the one who got poisoned. You’re not the one suffering every night. Easy for you to say there’s still hope,” Simon coffed, a bitter smile on his face.
Curtis had nothing to say to that.
Simon wasn’t finished. “If you hadn’t come to me that day and told me to defend Angelica, I wouldn’t be stuck in this mess
now.”
Curtis didn’t like hearing that. “Come on, Simon, are you seriously saying that even if I hadn’t asked, you wouldn’t have taken Angelica’s side eventually?”
Simon snapped, got up, grabbed a beer bottle, and smashed it on the floor. “Yeah, I would have! I asked for this, it’s all on me, alright? So what’s the point of your pity?”
Glass shards were scattered all over the floor.
Curtis looked at the mess, guilt washing over him as he closed his eyes. “Simon, I’m sorry…”

Simon’s eyes were red as he snapped, “Save it. Sorry doesn’t mean anything to me. All I want is to get this poison out of me, or I might as well just end it all!”
Curtis sat down next to him, gripping Simon’s shoulder tightly. “Simon, I’ll figure something out. Just hang in there a little longer.”
“There’s only one option left now–ask Grandpa for help,‘ Curtis thought. ‘No matter how ruthless he is, there’s no way he’d actually let Simon die.
Curtis still had to head to Gale Entertainment that afternoon, but he couldn’t leave Simon alone like this. So he called his mom, Julia.
“Mom, can you come over and check on Simon?” Curtis said.
“What’s wrong with Simon?” Julia asked, her voice full of concern.
“He’s not doing well. I’m worried he might do something reckless,” Curtis replied, his tone serious.
“Got it, I’ll be there right away,” Julia said, hanging up.
Seeing Curtis looking so worried, Simon gave a bitter little smile. “I always thought as the big brother, I should be the one keeping it together. But now, look at you, the little brother, worrying about me.”
Curtis set his phone aside and sighed. “Simon, don’t say that. We’re brothers, it’s only right we look out for each other. I got carried away. If I hadn’t messed with Vickie’s car to stand up for Angelica, maybe she wouldn’t be so cold to us now. Honestly, the reason Vickie won’t help you is partly my fault.”
“Let’s not dwell on it, Simon. I know you barely sleep at night–try to catch up on some rest today,” Curtis said gently.
Simon simply closed his eyes in silence.
Curtis ordered some food delivery on his phone, then started tidying up the coffee table. The delivery arrived just as Julia walked in.
‘Curtis, tell me what’s going on with your brother?” Julia asked, worry etched on her face as she looked at Simon sleeping on the couch.
Curtis didn’t want to fuel his mom’s hatred toward Vickie, so he just said, “It’s nothing. Just keep an eye on him, okay?”
But Julia wasn’t buying it. “Nothing? Simon’s never gotten this wasted since he took over Brightstar Entertainment.”
She could smell the booze the moment she walked in, and it was obvious Simon had been drinking a lot.
“You don’t have to say it, I know it’s because of the poison,” Julia said, her heart aching. “Vickie… she’s so heartless! It’s been ages since Angelica was exposed for who she really is, and she still won’t help Simon! How long is she going to hold this grudge? Is she really trying to push him over the edge?”
Curtis didn’t want to get into it with his mom, so he cut her off, sounding impatient. “Alright, can you stop going on about Vickie? We were the ones who messed up first.”
“Yeah, we messed up, but does she really have to hold a grudge for the rest of her life?” Julia said, tears streaming down her face as she looked at Simon.
“Mom, if you don’t want to upset Simon, just drop it when he wakes up, okay? I ordered some food–help yourself if you’re hungry. I’ve got things to take care of, so I’m heading out,” Curtis said, not even bothering to eat himself as he left Simon’s
apartment.

At the door, the woman next door heard the door close and instantly threw open her own door, her face tense as she called out, “Curtis?”
Curtis glanced at her, pulled his cap and mask back on, and said, “You’ve got the wrong guy.” Without another word, he strode straight to the elevator, completely ignoring her.
After leaving Simon’s apartment, Curtis drove straight to Gale Entertainment.
“Hey, isn’t that Curtis?” a woman’s voice called out from behind him.
Curtis was at the front desk, asking to see Marty, when he suddenly heard a woman call out.
He turned around and immediately recognized the woman walking toward him.
It was Lexi.
She was the daughter of Brightstar Entertainment’s chairman.
She was also Nathan’s fiancée.
“What are you doing at Gale Entertainment?” Lexi asked, looking puzzled.
She quickly gave him a skeptical look. “No way, are you seriously planning to ditch Brightstar and sign with us?”
Curtis replied, “That’s none of your business.”
Seeing how arrogant he was, Lexi couldn’t help but sneer, “Yeah, I don’t care about some loser who got kicked out of the Binder family.”
Before Curtis could say anything back, she strode straight to the elevator.
Curtis clenched his fists, trying to keep his anger in check.
“Mr. Binder, Mr. Howell says you can head up to his office now,” the receptionist said after hanging up the phone.
Curtis took a big step forward and slipped into the elevator with Lexi, making it just before the doors closed.
Lexi gave Curtis a sideways glance, saying nothing.
The elevator dinged at the twelfth floor, and Curtis was the first to step out.
Lexi couldn’t beat him to the door, so she called out after him, “Stray dog.”
Curtis stopped in his tracks, unable to hold back his anger. He turned around and snapped, “Say that again!”
Lexi stepped out of the elevator, her voice full of mockery. “What, you want me to repeat it? Am I wrong? You’re just a stray dog, kicked out of the Binder family by your own sister!”
She deliberately enunciated each syllable of “stray dog,” making sure every word hit him like a slap.
Curtis clenched his fists again, struggling to keep his anger in check. “Don’t think being Nathan Clark’s fian
