As Victoria stepped into the room, her eyes were immediately drawn to the middle–aged man lying on the bed

He lay there quietly the hair at his temples already gray, his face etched with the marks of time–especially those old scars that made you feel sorry for him.

Victoria asked softly. Jack, is this the man your mother saved?”

The man standing by the bedside looked confused by Victoria’s question. He stared at her blankly, as if he couldn’t figure out why she was asking

ackson, meanwhile, kept his eyes fixed on the middle–aged man, carefully studying his face.

After a moment, he slowly shook his head and said, “It’s been too long, and I only met him once in passing. I really don’t emember him at all.”

Victoria reassured him, “It’s okay, Jack. We’ll just run a DNA test soon, and then everything will be clear.”

After sitting down, Victoria checked the middle–aged man’s condition and said, “Your uncle’s illness can be cured. It’s actually just a psychological issue,”

A psychological issue?” Stephen was surprised by Victoria’s conclusion.

“That’s right,” Victoria explained calmly. “Years of mental stress and bottled–up emotions have overloaded his brain. To protect itself, his brain put him into a coma.”

“Once I wake him up and figure out what’s been troubling him, we’ll help him resolve his inner turmoil, and he’ll recover in

no time.”

Stephen had asked Victoria to come, so no matter what happened, he chose to trust her diagnosis.

“Alright, I’ll leave it to you, Ms. Binder,” Stephen said, feeling a wave of relief now that he knew his uncle wasn’t suffering from some incurable disease. “By the way, have you guys had lunch yet? If not, let’s eat first–I’ve got lunch ready.”

Stephen was taken aback for a second, but then it clicked. “Are you worried about Nathan?”

Stephen nodded. “Got it. I’ll go along with whatever you need.”

Jackson looked at Stephen, feeling a bit of heartache for how sensible he was.
