Chapter 295
Gary scrambled up yanking Stephen to his side. He glared at Jackson, eyes blazing with anger, ranting incoherently–no one could make out what he was saying
Jackson found Gary’s reaction strange
Stephen explained. “Uncle, he’s the heir of the Thornton family, the top family in the Benwig City”
Once he realized what was happening. Gary started signing with his hands.
Stephen was about to translate for Jackson, but Victoria beat him to it. “Jack, Gary just asked who you are and what you’re doing here
Stephen blinked in surprise. “Ms. Binder, you know sign language?”
Jackson wasn’t surprised at all. To him, there was nothing Vickie couldn’t do. After all, she’d told him that every year on her birthday, the villagers would teach her a new skill.
Victoria nodded. “Yeah, I studied it for a year.”
stephen looked at her with even more admiration, but deep down, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of inferiority.
Gary was signing furiously, his gestures sharp and full of anger.
Victoria translated, “Gary says he doesn’t care who you are–just get out!”
After translating, Victoria raised an eyebrow. “Something’s not right about his reaction.”
ackson spoke gently, “Gary, do you know me? Is there some kind of misunderstanding?”
Gary started yelling and waving his hands like crazy.
Victoria translated, “He says he doesn’t know you and wants you to get out, now.”
Victoria said, “Jack, Gary looks really on guard. It’s obvious he only started acting this way after he found out you’re from the Thornton family.”
Stephen explained, “Gary, you just woke up, so try not to get too worked up. It was Victoria who treated you and brought you back. She doesn’t mean us any harm.”
Gary paused, then turned to Victoria, his eyes full of scrutiny as he started signing to her.
[What’s your purpose here?]
Victoria said, “My fiancé, Jackson, came here today because he suspects Stephen might actually be his real brother, Cassian”
Gary face grew conflicted.
“Gary you do know me, don’t you?” Jackson’s gaze darkened. After a moment, he probed, “There’s no need to keep it a secret anymore. Stephen is my real brother, and I’m here today to take him home.”
Stephen was stunned. “But the results aren’t out yet…”
Before he could finish, Jackson cut him off.

Gary what are you so afraid of Are you worried someone will find out Stephen is actually my brother?” Jackson pressed
Gary clenched his fists, his face looking even more complicated and torn
After a long pause, like he’d finally made up his mind, he started signing again
At the same time. Gary was shouting at the top of his lungs, his voice hoarse with emotion
Victoria continued to translate
Gary says the Thornton tammly are nothing but heartless bastards. Selling your own flesh and blood to traffickers? You Thornton people are monsters.” Victoria translated.
Jackson lowered his gaze, guilt written all over his face.
Victoria was pretty much certain now. Even without Ollie’s test results, she was sure Stephen was Jackson’s real brother
Jackson didn’t get mad at Gary’s outburst. Instead, he replied gently, “Gary, you’re not wrong. The Thornton family really are cold–blooded monsters.”
From Gary’s words, it finally sank in for Stephen–he really was Jackson’s blood brother.
Gary, you don’t trust anyone from the Thornton family, so you never considered letting my real brother return, did you?” Jackson asked, his suspicion clear in his eyes.
Gary was practically shaking with rage as he signed. Victoria patiently translated, “Gary says your old man has no humanity. He forced a newborn, barely a month old, to be sent away just because some damn fortune–teller claimed the kid would ruin the Thornton family’s luck.”
How do I know the rest of you aren’t just as cold–blooded? Why would I ever send my benefactor’s kid straight into the ion’s den?”
Jackson gave a bitter chuckle.
So that’s why,‘ he thought.
Ever since Mrs. Tooth told him his real brother had been rescued, Jackson couldn’t figure it out. If the person who saved Stephen was really someone his mother called in a crisis, why hadn’t they ever thought about sending him back to the Thornton family after all this time?
Turns out, Gary–the one who saved his brother–never trusted anyone from the Thornton family.
Honestly, it made sense. Back then, his grandfather was running the Thornton family and still chose to send his own grandson away. No wonder Gary didn’t trust any of them and never dared let Stephen return.
If Stephen’s identity ever got out, he could end up dead–simple as that.
Jackson looked straight at Cary, speaking each word clearly. “Gary, I’m Jackson, the son of Chloe, and Cassian’s real brother.”
Chloe was his mother.
At the mention of his mother’s name, Gary finally started to calm down a bit.
“Gary, trust me—I’d never hurt my own brother,” Jackson kept his voice gentle. “For my mom’s sake, would you hear me out about what I’ve been through these past three years?”

Chapter 2.
Seeing Jackson really wasn’t about to force or hurt Stephen, Gary didn’t cut him off. He just made a couple of noises letting Jackson go on
Secing Gary finally let his guard down a bu. Jackson started telling the story–how he got his grandfather on board three years ago, and how he managed to convince him to bring Cassian back to the family
Three years ago, I managed to convince my grandfather to let Cassian return to the Thornton family But I never expected that the one I brought home wasn’t Cassian at all–it was some bastard Donald swapped in,” Jackson said
When Gary heard Donald’s name, his eyes went wide, like they might pop right out of his head. He clenched his jaw so hard it looked like he might break a tooth, his hands flying with angry signs, every gesture practically shaking with rage
Victoria quickly translated, “Donald is absolute scum, lower than a beast! He should be hacked to bits and dragged behind
horses!
Jackson lowered his head, gently running his hands over his legs, a bitter smile tugging at his lips.
He spoke slowly. “It was the imposter and Donald’s illegitimate daughter who cost me the use of my legs. But I was lucky–I survived. That was when I started suspecting Cassian wasn’t really my brother. After looking into it, I finally confirmed the
truth.
Jackson went on, “So I started searching all over the country for my real brother. After a long, exhausting search, it was my fiancee, Victoria, who finally gave me the clue I needed–she’s the reason I ended up here.”
Gary’s eyes moved from Jackson’s face down to his legs, his expression full of sorrow as he started signing.
“I saw it on the news–you got hurt saving your adopted daughter from those kidnappers,” Victoria said, watching Gary’s hands. “If even you aren’t safe with the Thornton family, there’s no way I’d ever let Stephen go back to that place. That family chews people up and spits them out.”
“So you can’t take Stephen away,” Victoria translated, echoing Gary’s message.
