Chapter 297
Meeting Carys hateful glare Jackson didur back down His eyes stayed steady as he said, “Alright. Uncle, when the test results come out tomorrow Ill take you to Donald However you want to make him pay for what he did to my mom and my brother, it’s up to you
Jackson knew exactly why Gary hated Donald so much
It was only after Jackson gave him a straight answer that Gary finally let go.
Jackson turned and walked away. Instead of heading straight back to the office or home like he usually did, he made his way
to a cemetery
The place was quiet and peaceful, with nothing but the rustling of leaves in the wind and the occasional chirping of birds
Jackson held a bouquet of flowers in his hands as he moved through the rows of tombstones, finally parking his wheelchair in front of a particular grave.
On the tombstone was engraved a woman’s name, her birth and death dates, and a black–and–white photo.
The woman in the photo had sharp features, and her gaze was far from gentle.
Jackson bent down gently, carefully placing the bouquet of flowers in front of the tombstone. Then he sat back and gazed at the woman in the photo, his eyes growing misty with emotion.
“Mom, I finally found Simon. It was the person you once saved who ended up saving him, so he wasn’t just sold off to some stranger, Jackson said softly.
‘I should’ve brought Simon home three years ago, but Donald tricked me, and Simon had to go through so much for another three years because of me. Do you blame me?” Jackson’s voice trembled.
‘Mom, don’t worry. I swear I’ll never let anyone hurt Simon again. And as for what Donald did to you–betraying you and switching Simon with his own bastard son–he’ll finally get what’s coming to him,” Jackson’s voice was firm with resolve.
When Victoria got back to the office, Tracy hurried over, looking flustered. “Boss, Julia Binder is here asking for you. We tried to stop her, but she wouldn’t take no for an answer, so we had to let her wait in the lounge.”
Got it.” Victoria said, and headed straight for the lounge.
Inside the lounge, besides Julia Binder, there was a female employee from HR gently comforting her. “Mrs. Binder, don’t worry. Simon will be fine.”
This employee was Betty Bell from the HR department.
But from the way Betty was acting, it didn’t seem like she was just trying to comfort a guest–she looked more like she was trying to butter up Julia.
As soon as Julia saw Victoria, she jumped up anxiously. “Victoria, where’s Simon? We haven’t been able to reach him for days You must know where he is, right? He’d be most likely to contact you.”
Victoria cut her off. “Julia, stop acting like he’s my brother.”
Betty, standing nearby, couldn’t help but interject, “Mrs. Binder does have a point. Simon is your brother, whether you
admit it or not.”
Victoria shot Betty a sharp look. “Figure out who your real boss is. If you don’t manage to marry Simon, you might end up

losing your job too”
What Marry Sumon? Juha looked confused for a moment, then realization dawned on her She turned to Betty her face darkening and pointed at her You want to marry my son, Simon?”
Betty pressed her hips together, staying silent
To Juha, that was as good as an admission.
Julia grew even more furious, her finger nearly poking Betty in the face. “Have you ever looked in the mirror? You really think you’re good enough to marry my son, Simon?”
“Even if he’s fallen on hard times, he’s still the heir to a wealthy family. His grandfather will bring him back to the Binder family sooner or later. Don’t kid yourself–you don’t stand a chance.”
Betty hadn’t expected Julia, who had been fairly polite just moments ago, to suddenly turn so vicious. Julia’s merciless words made her feel utterly mortified, tears stinging her eyes.
Julia was fuming. “I’m just telling the truth, and you’re the one getting all upset!”
To Julia, her son should only marry a girl from a family of equal status. No matter how far he’s fallen, he’s still out of reach for ordinary employees like Betty–there’s no way someone like her could ever dream of marrying him.
Victoria gave Betty a frosty glare. “Why are you still here? Are you just waiting around to be insulted again?”
Betty sniffled, holding back her tears, and hurried out of the lounge.
julia couldn’t help shouting after Betty, “What kind of nobody tries to marry into a wealthy family instead of just doing her ob? Victoria, you should fire employees with such bad intentions right away.”
Victoria gave her a cold stare. “Are you finished? Then get out.”
Julia demanded, “Just tell me where Simon is. Once you do, I’ll leave.”
Victoria said coldly, “I don’t know.”
Julia didn’t buy it. “How could you not know? Did you tell Simon something, or are you the one who took him away?”
Realizing she couldn’t get through to Julia Binder, Victoria called Curtis.
The call went through fast, and Curtis sounded pretty hyped. “Hey, Vic…”
Victoria cut him off, her voice laced with annoyance. “Curtis, can’t you keep your mom in check? Tell her to stop pestering
There was a pause. “She’s at your place?”
Victoria snapped, “Yeah, she barged into Brightstar Entertainment demanding to know where Simon is. Honestly. I’d like to know too did he really die, or is he just pulling a disappearing act? If you don’t get her out of here, don’t blame me if I have to deal with her myself.
“Sorry for the trouble, Vic. I’ll head over right now,” Curtis said, then hung up.
Julia was stunned for a second when she saw Victoria actually call Curtis to kick her out. She snapped, “You’ve seen your grandfather’s attitude–he genuinely wants the Binder family to stay together. If you keep being so stubborn, you’ll end up losing his support for good.”

Chapter 29
Victoria couldn’t stand Julia Binders endless tagging anymore She pulled out a silver needle and flicked at right at Julia’s
neck
You–Julia barely managed to speak before her eyes rolled back and she passed out cold
Victoria left Julia Binder passed out in the lounge and walked out. Once she was back in her office, she asked Tracy to come
in Ask Betty Shaw from HR to come to my office”
Tracy looked a bit surprised, then nodded “Okay”
Five minutes later, Betty knocked softly on the office door three times, her voice barely above a whisper
“Ms Binder”
“Com: m‘ Victoria said.
Once Betty was inside, she stood still, nervously biting her lip before finally asking, “Ms. Binder, are you planning to fire
me
Victoria leaned back in her chair, arms crossed. “After what Julia said to you, what’s going through your mind? Did you feel humiliated?”
Betty’s eyes filled with tears again. “I just… I have a crush on Mr. Binder–on Simon. I never really expected I could ever marry him.”
Victoria shot her a skeptical look. “Really? You honestly never thought about marrying him?”
Before Betty could reply, Victoria continued, “Having ambition isn’t a problem, but you better have the skills to back it up. Otherwise, you’re just setting yourself up to be laughed at.”
“Don’t forget how Julia Binder tore you down. Getting into a rich family is no walk in the park. If you’ve got that kind of ambition, then level up and prove yourself. I’m giving you one shot–if you want to stay, work hard and earn it. If not, just leave on your own.”
Betty was stunned. She hadn’t expected Victoria not to insult her–instead, Victoria was actually giving her a chance. After hesitating for a while, she finally clenched her fists and said, “I understand, Ms. Binder. Thank you.”
After a pause, she bowed deeply, her voice sincere. “And… I’m sorry, Ms. Binder.”
Victoria waved her off. “You only owe it to yourself. Now get back to work.”
“Okay, Betty replied, sniffled, and walked out with her head held high.
Victoria leaned back in her chair, taking a moment to rest, until her phone rang, snapping her out of her thoughts.
She picked up her phone and saw it was Stephan calling.
“Uncle?’ Victoria answered.
“Vic, what’s the deal with Simon?” Stephan sounded a bit baffled.
Victoria hadn’t expected to hear Simon’s name from Uncle Stephan, so she raised an eyebrow. “What’s up?”
