If she went out of her way to outshine Victoria, Hector and Daisy’s anger wouldn’t even be the biggest problem. What she feared most was drawing Calvin’s displeasure.

Julia waved her hand, dismissing it without a second thought. “What are you scared of? It would be better if they got angry.

“Angelica, do exactly what Curtis said. At the welcome party, you must completely outshine Victoria. Let her see who the real princess of the Binder family is.”

A sharp, resentful glint flashed in Julia’s eyes. Thinking about how Victoria had treated her yesterday–being so rude and slipping her some kind of drug that left her throat aching all night–made her furious all over again.

“Okay, Mom. I understand,” Angelica said softly, though a sneer curled in her heart.

Outshining Victoria would be easy. With just a few small tricks, she could completely humiliate Victoria.

The thought made her lips curl into a confident, smug smile.

All the invitations for Victoria’s welcome party on Saturday night had already been sent out.

The Binder family estate had a private venue used for hosting parties. Hector had everything arranged down to the smallest detail, using only the best materials and ordering the finest wines.

He wanted every prominent family to see just how much he and Daisy valued Victoria.

Even though Hector felt everything had been prepared perfectly, he still worried something might have been overlooked or hat some detail wouldn’t meet Victoria’s expectations.

He asked, “Victoria, is there anything about the setup that needs adjusting?”

Victoria looked around at the carefully arranged venue and smiled. “No, Dad. You did a great job.”

With her approval, Hector, new to being a father, felt a swell of pride rise in his chest.

Daisy added, “The evening gown you picked has already been shipped from overseas. It’ll arrive tonight. You can wear it to omorrow’s welcome party.”

Seeing how thoughtful they were, Victoria felt warmth in her chest and nodded. “Okay. I’ll try it on when it gets here onight.”

Daisy nodded. “Victoria, you’re going to look beautiful in it. I picked one of the most famous and hardest–to–get gowns in the world. No one will outshine you”

Since becoming a mother, she had developed a bit of a competitive streak. “I just don’t want anyone bullying you or stealing your spotlight.

If you hadn’t been switched at birth, you would’ve been the princess we treasured most.

Victoria leaned gently against Daisy’s shoulder. It’s not too late for me to be you princess now.”

Daisy’s eyes turned red. “It is. It’s very late. That’s why your father and I will make sure you live even better from W or 1 make up for everything you lost.”

Victoria held onto Daisy’s arm tightly. To her, the greatest blessing of returning to the Binder family was having parents like them.

After lunch, Victoria took a nap. When she woke up, she headed out to the spot she had agreed on with Jackson the day before.

Her main goal was to begin treating his legs. The second was to deal with Simon.

The day before, Jackson had taken Simon away to treat his injuries. He said he couldn’t just leave Simon to die and promised to bring him back today.

Jackson had arrived early. Simon leaned weakly against a pavilion pillar, his face pale.

The moment he saw Victoria, a trace of resentment and fear flashed in his eyes.

Victoria ignored him. She walked straight to Jackson and sat down beside him on the stone bench, calm and steady, as if nothing around her mattered.

We’ll start your treatment today,” she said quietly, her tone leaving no room for doubt.

Jackson gave a slight nod. There was a flicker of anticipation in his eyes, but more than that, there was trust.

Victoria continued, “I’ve examined your legs. They can be treated. But I’ll need to reconnect the tendons and bones.

‘It’ll hurt a lot. But as long as you can endure it and don’t interrupt me, I can have you walking again in three months.”
