Hearing Marty’s words, Curtis pulled out his phone, opened X, and saw Victoria’s latest post. His face fell.

Right now, his feelings were all over the place. On one hand, he was sure he could win.

Getting Marty’s hint, Curtis forced himself to say, “Thanks for backing me, Mr. Lowe. I’m more than happy.”

Timothy finally looked satisfied. “Alright, you’ve worked hard lately. When your new songs blow up, I’ll get my dad to throw you a special celebration party.”

“Thanks, Mr. Lowe,” Curtis said, though he didn’t really mean it.

Timothy let out a laugh, stepped closer, and gave Curtis’s handsome face a light pat. “Curtis, you are the former golden boy of the Binder family.

“And now you have to play by my rules. Doesn’t it leave a bad taste in your mouth?”

Timothy snorted. “Marty, you really know how to read the room. Alright, you’ll handle all the promo for Curtis’s new songs from here on out.

“Just one thing, make sure they go live on the day of Victoria’s birthday party.”

“You can count on me, Mr. Lowe,” Marty declared, pounding his chest.

After Timothy left, Marty turned to Curtis and said sharply, “Curtis, you better tread carefully around Timothy. He runs the show at Gale Entertainment now.

“If we want to get anywhere, we have to stay on his good side. Stop acting like you’re still the Binder family’s prince.

“If you want to make it big and get Victoria to respect you, keep your complaints to yourself.”

Curtis clenched his fists. “I know. You don’t have to keep nagging me about it.”

Marty shot back, “If I don’t keep telling you, you’ll forget your place. Go figure out how you’re going to hype your new songs on X before they drop.”

“Got it,” Curtis replied.

After Marty left, Curtis headed back to his rented place, planning to catch up on some sleep.

He’d been pulling all–nighters in the Gale Entertainment studio for days, rushing to finish his tracks, and hadn’t had a proper rest in forever.

Back at his place, Curtis took a quick shower and was about to hit the sack when he suddenly remembered something.

‘Wait, Mom hasn’t contacted me for days,’ Curtis thought.

She’d said Simon didn’t want to go back to Benwig City with her, so she should’ve returned alone. But she still hadn’t come back.
