“You already found out where Donald is?” Victoria asked, her voice full of surprise.

If he tracked him down this fast, it only proved Jackson was prepared all along.

Jackson grinned. “I’ve always known where Donald was. I just played dumb. I’m planning to take you to Xavier and ask him where Donald is.”

Victoria’s eyes sparkled. “Oh, Jack, you’re going to Xavier on purpose, making him think he’s got you wrapped around his finger. That’s clever. Come on, let’s go.”

While they were eating in the car, Jackson said, “Vickie, Stephen told me last night he wanted to come to your birthday party.”

Victoria looked puzzled. “I’m not close with Stephen. Why would he suddenly want to come to my birthday party?”

Jackson replied, “Before he said he wanted to come, he specifically asked if Grandpa and I would be there.”

Victoria caught on right away. “Stephen probably wants to use my birthday party as a chance to get close to Gerry.

“But he only said he’d come himself. Did he mention bringing Gary along?”

Jackson nodded. “No, only him.”

Victoria thought for a moment and then asked, “Jack, what do you think Stephen’s intentions are?”

Jackson guessed, “Maybe Stephen and Gary aren’t seeing eye to eye.

“Gary wants to do things his own way, and Stephen does, too. Neither of them wants the other to take any risks.”

Victoria was at a loss for words for a moment, then looked at Jackson with sympathy.

She sighed. “Looks like they are thick as thieves, while you, the real brother, end up being the odd one out.”

Jackson gave a self–deprecating laugh. “Tell me about it.”

Victoria couldn’t help but laugh. “If you can still joke about it, I guess it didn’t really get to you.”

“I’m not really upset,” Jackson said honestly. “As long as he’s safe, nothing else matters.”

“Since you don’t mind, I’ll send Stephen an invite,” Victoria said.

“Alright,” Jackson replied.

Jackson’s leg had healed up nicely, so his treatment time had gone from two hours to one.

By the time they arrived at Xavier’s place, Jackson’s treatment was finishing up.

Victoria packed Greenie and Whitey back into her bag and got out of the car with Jackson.

Thomas’s family lived in a three–story villa in a newly built villa district.

Ollie stepped up and pressed the doorbell.

Faye’s voice came through the intercom. “Hey Jackson, is that you?”

Soon, the door opened automatically.

Victoria pushed Jackson’s wheelchair inside, while Ollie waited outside.

Faye was sitting on the couch. She shot Victoria a resentful look and put on an awkward smile. “Jackson, you’re here for Xavier, right? He’s not home.”

Jackson smiled. “No worries. I can tell you instead.”

Faye’s smile stiffened. “Oh? What is it?”

Jackson grinned. “Let Xavier know he needs to get Donald back to the sanatorium ASAP.

“If anything happens, he and your father could lose all their business in Afriska.”

Faye’s face fell. “So that’s what you came all the way here for? I still don’t get why you’re asking Xavier about Uncle Donald, but I’ll make sure he gets your message.”

Jackson replied calmly, “That’s good. Time’s running out, so you’d better behave until I officially become the Thornton family heir.

“As long as you play nice, I can make sure you never have to worry about money. But if you don’t, your family will end up like Darell’s.”

Faye couldn’t hold it in anymore.

‘How dare that cripple Jackson come here and challenge me to my face?‘ Faye fumed inwardly.

But Faye had to be careful around Victoria, who always had all sorts of shady tricks up her sleeve. If Faye said anything out of line, Victoria might pull some underhanded stunt.

So, Faye bit back her anger and said, “Grandpa hasn’t announced the official heir yet. It’s still anyone’s game. Jackson, don’t get ahead of yourself.”

Jackson kept that easy smile on his face. “Whether you think I’m bluffing or not, it’s your call. If you don’t believe me, go ahead and keep gambling.”

With that, he turned to Victoria. “Alright, Vickie, let’s go.”

Victoria caught the look on Faye’s face, fuming but not daring to say a word, and flashed a dazzling smile.

She smirked, “I thought you’d be more arrogant now that you’re cured, but it looks like you’ve learned to be cautious. At least you know your place.”

Faye glared, lost for words.

As soon as Jackson and Victoria left, Faye immediately called Xavier.

When he picked up, Faye snapped, “Xavier, that damn cripple Jackson barged in here with that scheming bitch Victoria, telling you to hand over Donald.”

Xavier stayed silent.

Faye asked in a low voice, “Did you really kidnap Donald?“.

After a pause, she said, sounding exasperated, “Last time you kidnapped Cassian to get at that cripple Jackson, and it was useless.

“Now you’re kidnapping Donald? What’s the point? You know better than anyone how much Jackson and his dad hate each other.”

Xavier finally spoke. “This time, I’m working with Felix. Kidnapping Donald isn’t about threatening Jackson. We have other plans for him.”

Faye couldn’t help but warn him, “Seriously, why would you agree to work with Felix? You know what he’s like, as scheming as his dad.

“He probably wants you to stick your neck out so he can sit back and take all the credit. Why are you doing all the dirty work for him?”

Xavier said, “I know what Felix is plotting. I’ve messed up once, so Grandpa’s pretty much written me off.

“Felix thinks he can push me out front as the fall guy, but he doesn’t realize I’m planning to pull him down with me.

“Let me tell you straight, Faye. Felix wants to use Donald to stir things up, pin Jackson’s mom’s accident on Grandpa, and then use Jackson’s real brother’s thirst for revenge to go after Grandpa.

“If it all backfires, Jackson will be the one taking the fall.”

“Real brother?” Faye froze for a moment and then stared in disbelief. “Cassian isn’t Jackson’s real brother? Are you sure?”

Xavier replied confidently, “I’m sure. The information came straight from Nathan. There’s no way it’s wrong.”

Faye was still skeptical. “Jackson already found his real brother?”

Xavier said, “Yeah, Jackson’s got people guarding him now, so I can’t do anything to his real brother. That’s why Felix suggested we work together.
