Lexi once again followed Ophelia to the nearest police station on Asteria Avenue.

Ophelia quickly explained her identity to the officers.

The officers told her that the perpetrator, Mrs. Tooth, was still being interrogated in the interrogation room.

Just as they finished speaking, the door to the interrogation room opened.

Mrs. Tooth, handcuffed, walked out with two interrogating officers.

Ophelia marched right up to Mrs. Tooth and demanded, “You must be Mrs. Tooth. Spill it–who made you do this? Was it Victoria?”

Mrs. Tooth glanced up at Ophelia, her eyes completely dead.

She just stayed silent, refusing to answer Ophelia’s question.

The police captain who had been in charge of the interrogation blocked Ophelia as she was about to explode. “You’re Timothy’s mother, right? We’ve already questioned the suspect, and we’ll explain the situation to you.”

“Give her to me. You won’t get the truth out of her,” Ophelia snapped.

The captain looked at her, his eyes completely devoid of sympathy. “We understand how you feel as a mother who’s lost her son, but this is our job. Please don’t get in the way of our work, Mrs. Lowe.”

Ophelia jabbed a finger at the silent Mrs. Tooth. “Then tell me what exactly did you get out of her just now?”

The captain glanced at the officer taking notes, who immediately spoke up. “Mrs. Tooth confessed she’s the owner of Greenville Talent Academy. She said she ran over your son to avenge her friend.

“She said your son ran over and killed three people two years ago–a couple and their kid. It’s the same case that’s been blowing up online lately.”

The officer was practically gritting his teeth as he spoke.

If he weren’t a cop, he’d have said Timothy deserved what he got.

Ophelia didn’t feel a shred of guilt. Instead, she shouted, “That’s crap. Mrs. Tooth is making this up. She’s a big shot. Why would she throw away everything just to get revenge for someone else?”

The captain replied, “We’ll continue investigating to see if Mrs. Tooth is telling the truth. Ms. Tan, please cooperate and head home for now. We’ll contact you if there are any updates.”

Just as Ophelia was about to make a scene, her phone rang.

It was her husband, Justin.

“Are you at the police station?” Justin asked.

“Yeah, I have to find out who killed our son.” Ophelia’s voice caught in her throat. “I can’t let our son’s death go unexplained.”

Justin was silent for a moment and then let out a quiet sigh. “Come back to the Rhein Hospital first. Let’s handle Timothy’s funeral arrangements together. Leave the investigation to the police.”

Ophelia hesitated, wanting to say something, but in the end, she just said, “Okay, I’ll come over now.”

After hanging up, she took a deep breath, trying to calm down.

She knew Justin’s reaction wasn’t right.

So, she couldn’t act out right now.

“I got a little worked up earlier. I’ll leave it to you guys to figure out what really happened to my son,” Ophelia said, her voice tired as she turned and walked out of the police station.

As she reached the entrance, Ophelia ran into Lexi again. But this time, she didn’t even have the energy to curse her out.

Her eyes burned with resentment. “What, here to watch me fall? Don’t think you’ll have it easy just because my son is gone. Your dad won’t let you get away with this.”

Lexi just smiled. “I’m the only daughter he’s got left. Do you really think he’d do anything to me, even if I was involved in your son’s death?”

Ophelia was caught off guard, but quickly snapped back, “Even if your dad forgives you, I never will.”

With that, she got into her car, still seething, and headed back to the Rhein Hospital.

This time, Lexi didn’t follow Ophelia. She got into her car, took several deep breaths, and glanced at the set of security devices Victoria had given her for protection.

She tapped the smart watch on her right wrist, steadied her nerves, and then finally called Victoria.

At that moment, Victoria had just left Brightstar Entertainment and had gone to the Thornton Group to give Jackson the last stage of his treatment.

Victoria and Jackson started talking about Timothy.

When Lexi called, Victoria slid a medical tool into an acupuncture point on Jackson’s knee, then switched the call to speaker.

“Timothy is dead,” Lexi said straight out.

She didn’t bother with any small talk.

Jackson, sitting in his wheelchair, had been watching Victoria’s nimble fingers work the needles. When he heard the news, he looked up at her face, as fair as ever.

Victoria didn’t react at all. With practiced ease, she took another medical tool from her kit and slipped it into a different spot around Jackson’s knee. “Mm,” she replied, barely glancing up. “How did he die?”

Victoria knew perfectly well how Timothy died.

She asked just to keep herself from getting played.

It wasn’t that Victoria didn’t trust Lexi, but she never knew if Lexi was under pressure, or if someone else was eavesdropping.

Lexi paused for a moment, then said, “He got hit by a car. His head was smashed to pieces. The driver was someone named Mrs. Tooth.”

She really put extra emphasis on the name “Mrs. Tooth.”

Unless Lexi was calling under duress, Victoria knew exactly what she was trying to find out whether Timothy’s death had anything to do with her.

Victoria smiled. “Mrs. Tooth is one of Nathan’s people. She was the one who hit him. What does that have to do with me? I didn’t kill Timothy, so relax, the police won’t find anything on me.”

Lexi breathed out, sounding relieved. “Good, as long as it wasn’t you. I really don’t want my family mess getting you involved. Now that Timothy’s gone, I’ve got to deal with my dad and Timothy’s mom. Anyway, that’s it for now.”

Lexi hung up right after, and Victoria finished the last needle. When she looked up, she caught Jackson grinning at her. “Vickie, you sure you had nothing to do with Timothy’s death?”

Victoria leisurely rolled up her needle kit, a relaxed smile on her face. “It wasn’t me who did it, but I was the one who planned it.”

“I’m really curious. How did you get Mrs. Tooth to actually work with you?” Jackson asked.

Victoria blinked. “The agony from those experimental drugs was so bad, she felt like dying. I promised her that if she pulled this off, I’d clear every last toxin from her system.”

As she spoke, Victoria called out to Greenie and Whitey–her two little snakes that had already been let out to stretch and play–telling them to come over and help massage and treat Jackson.

Watching Greenie and Whitey come over from the other room, Jackson nodded in understanding. “I get it… But Justin isn’t going to let this slide.

“He’ll keep digging until he gets answers. You and Timothy had a fight last night, and it’s already blowing up online. Justin and his wife are definitely going to suspect you first.”

Victoria, already expecting this, replied, “Jack, do you really think I chose Mrs. Tooth just to find someone to take the fall for me?”
