Jackson got it instantly. “Nathan’s not about to let the whole Timothy thing blow up. Mrs. Tooth works for him.
“Whether he actually told her to run Timothy down or not, if anyone keeps digging, they’re bound to stumble on all the shady stuff he’s had her do for him in secret.”
Victoria couldn’t help but sigh–talking to someone as smart as Jackson was just so effortless.
She grinned. “Exactly. Nathan’s definitely going to lean on Timothy’s dad, make sure his wife, Ophelia, stops poking around about their son’s death. He wants this case wrapped up, fast.”
Sometimes, Jackson couldn’t help but marvel that Victoria was just way too smart.
Getting Mrs. Tooth to take out Timothy was a genius move, knocking out three problems at once.
It dealt with Mrs. Tooth, got Timothy out of the picture, and gave Nathan a way to cover things up.
But there was still one big risk. Ophelia’s motherly obsession with avenging her son.
Jackson warned, “Even if Ophelia stops pushing the cops, she’s been with Timothy’s dad for years. She definitely knows how to play the game. She’s not someone you can shake off that easily.”
But Victoria didn’t look worried at all. After putting away her medical kit and supplies, she lounged comfortably on the couch and let out a soft laugh.
She said, “Let’s see who’s really in trouble here. Ophelia is about to have her hands full, because I know a deadly secret about her, and it’s about to blow up.”
As she finished, she noticed Jackson staring at her intently. Suddenly, something occurred to her, and she asked, “Jack, are you scared?”
“Scared of what?” Jackson replied.
“Isn’t there a saying that men don’t like women who are too smart?” Victoria teased.
Jackson laughed. “Any guy who says that is either a loser who can’t keep up, or he’s never really known what it means to like someone.”
Victoria snorted with laughter. “Exactly. To me, only losers would say they don’t like smart women, like smart women would ever be interested in guys like them anyway.”

When Ophelia returned to the hospital and saw Justin, she threw herself into his arms, sobbing softly. “Honey, our son is gone. How am I supposed to go on?”
Justin looked utterly defeated, but he pulled her close and tried to comfort her. “Ophelia, don’t think like that. You have to keep going.”

After comforting her for a while and seeing Ophelia finally start to calm down, Justin said with a heavy heart, “I’ve already had Ted, the butler, contact the crematorium. We’ll have Timothy’s body cremated today…”
Before Justin could finish, Ophelia looked up at him, tears streaming down her face, barely able to believe it. “Honey? You’re really going to have our son’s body cremated right now? We still don’t even know who actually killed him…”
Justin looked conflicted. “Wasn’t it Mrs. Tooth, the boss at Bellmont Talent Training Center, who did it? The cops already called me about it.”
Ophelia replied, “Yeah, the police said Mrs. Tooth ran him down to get revenge for her friend. But honey, do you honestly buy what she’s saying?”
She dropped her voice and went on, “Honey, when you helped Justin deal with that family, didn’t you check them out? They’re nobodies, just a regular family with no connections.
“The only relatives they had were those four old folks–now two are gone, two left. Someone like Mrs. Tooth, a business owner, would never stick her neck out for them.”
“So, there’s definitely someone behind Mrs. Tooth, calling the shots. Either Lexi, your ex–wife’s daughter, or Victoria, who’s been fighting with Timothy lately. No way Mrs. Tooth did this on her own–she’s just the fall guy.”
Justin frowned. He knew full well Mrs. Tooth was just the fall guy, but what could he do? Mrs. Tooth worked for Nathan.
He’d only just learned his son had been killed, and had rushed to the hospital to figure out what happened, when Nathan called and told him to make sure Ophelia didn’t cause trouble at the police station or push for more investigation.
Mrs. Tooth was working for Nathan.
Justin understood immediately. Whatever Mrs. Tooth had done for Nathan, it was definitely shady. Nathan just wanted this case closed fast, before anyone traced it back to him.
He said, “Trust me, Ophelia. This is how it has to be. Timothy really was killed by Mrs. Tooth. The security cameras caught everything–there’s no doubt about it.
“As for who’s really behind Mrs. Tooth, let’s not push the cops to investigate any further.
“Justin, are you even listening to yourself? That was your son–your only heir,” Ophelia couldn’t hold back her anger and shouted.
This was the first time she’d ever truly lost her temper with Justin. She’d been with him since she was eighteen, twenty–four years now, always the model of grace and understanding, going along with everything he wanted.
She did it all to secure her place as a wealthy socialite, but above all, so her son could be born into privilege and eventually inherit all of Justin’s wealth.
But now, her son was gone.

Chapter 334
Just like Lexi said, there was no way she could ever lay claim to all of Justin’s fortune now.
If Justin wanted, he could always try for another son.
If she couldn’t have another child, he’d just find some other young woman to do it for him.

No matter how understanding and graceful she’d always been, this time, she just couldn’t hold back her
temper.
Justin’s face turned cold. “Enough. I’m hurting too, but are we supposed to just drown in grief and do nothing but chase revenge?
“Women are always so emotional, letting their feelings take over. Just take care of our son’s funeral, and stay out of everything else.”
With that, he shoved Ophelia aside and strode out of the hospital with his secretary.
Ophelia stood there, fists clenched, refusing to call after him or try to stop him.
“Mrs. Lowe…” Ted lingered nearby, his face full of sorrow. His expression said he wanted to speak, but he held his tongue.
Ophelia ignored him, wiped away her tears, and steeled herself. ‘Just wait. I’ll uncover who ordered Mrs. Tooth to kill my son–no matter what it takes.
Whether it was Lexi or Victoria, she’d make them pay in blood.

After leaving the hospital, Justin immediately called Nathan’s assistant, his voice respectful but tinged with resignation. “Mr. Clark, I’ve already told my wife to stop making a scene.
“Rest assured, I’ll personally oversee my son’s case and make sure the police close it as soon as possible. I won’t let this cause you any unnecessary trouble.”
“Good,” Nathan replied, his tone completely flat. “As compensation, whether Gale Entertainment manages to take down Brightstar Entertainment or not, I’ll personally send you an invitation to next year’s Secret Garden
party.
“You can pick any young, beautiful woman you want. Have her give you another son, and start over with a new heir.”
Justin’s voice was heavy with mixed emotions as he replied, “Thank you, Mr. Clark.”
Even though he’d thought about having Ophelia give him another son after Timothy’s death, hearing Nathan say it so bluntly still left Justin feeling stifled and a little resentful.
