“You look so happy. What’s the good news?” Sirena asked. Ever since she moved in, Curtis had always looked sad Sometimes, he barely even bothered to reply when she spoke to him. This was the first time he looked so happy.

Curtis picked up the invitation from the coffee table and said, “Look, what’s this?”

Darell and Sirena both looked over. “An invitation?” Sirena asked.

“Yeah, it’s Vickie’s birthday party invitations,” Curtis explained. “Simon passed it to me.”

Darell frowned, walked over, and picked up one of the invitations. “How did Simon get this?”

Curtis explained, “He dropped by Brightstar Entertainment this morning to see Vickie, and she handed it to him.”

Darell’s frown deepened, thinking, Vickie’s always given our family a hard time. Why did she suddenly give us her birthday invitations?

Sirena spotted her own name on the invitation and was instantly at a loss for words. ‘If I’d known Vickie would send the invitation straight to us, Darell and I wouldn’t have bothered the old man today, she thought.

Seeing that his father and Sirena weren’t as excited as he had expected, Curtis felt a bit disappointed. “Don’t you want to attend Vickie’s birthday party?” He clearly remembered hearing his father and Sirena trying to figure out how they could attend Vickie’s birthday party.

Darell put the invitation away and said, “Of course, we’re happy. It’s just that your grandpa’s allowed us to go, so your news isn’t really a big deal to us.”

“I see,” Curtis said. “Dad, Vickie initiated to give us the invitation means she wants to make peace with us.”

“I hope so. Anyway, now that we’ve confirmed going to Vickie’s birthday party, Sirena and I will make sure to pick out a really special gift for your sister tonight,” Darell said.

“My new song drops at midnight, so I need to figure out what to post on X. Don’t wait for me for dinner tonight; I’ll handle it myself,” Curtis said.

“Alright, go ahead,” Darell replied.

After Curtis went back to his room, Darell glanced at Sirena and said in a low voice, “Alright, Sirena, get some rest tonight. Tomorrow, stir things up a bit, and leave the rest to me.” With that, he headed back to his room and called Nathan.

“Mr. Clark, I’ve got everything set on my end. Are you good to go at your end?” Darell asked.

Nathan let out a cold, dismissive snort. His voice was icy and brooked no argument. “Do you think you need to doubt the preparation at my end?”

“I’m sorry, Mr. Clark. I’m not doubting you. It’s just that the success or failure of this plan will determine the rest of my life, so I have to be extra careful,” Darell replied.

“Relax. The assassin I’ve hired this time is from Zarovnia and is highly experienced. When the time comes, all the evidence from the setup will point to Victoria, and it definitely won’t lead to you,” Nathan said.

“Good to hear that. Thanks, Mr. Clark,” Darell replied.

After hanging up. Darell heaved a sigh of relief. Now, all he had to do was wait for his wife, Julia, to return. If everything goes according to plan, she should be back in Benwig City by now, he thought.

At Midnight Blue, after Nathan hung up, his assistant, Hey, took a call, then leaned in close and whispered in his ear. “Mr Clark, the person supposed to pick up Julia on the road last night and bring her back to Benwig City still hasn’t replied.” Nathan’s eyes darkened. According to the plan, after letting Julia go, they were supposed to let her run for a while, then have someone pretend to be a helpful stranger and pick her up by the roadside to bring her back to Benwig City.

But now, the person he had sent out still hadn’t replied to them. Nathan narrowed his eyes. “Did something happen?” Hey shook his head and said, “There’s still no news from him, and I don’t know what’s happening. But I’ve sent someone to check on Julia, and apparently, she’s already back in Benwig City.”

“Back in Benwig City already? Who the hell has brought her back?” Nathan asked, his tone wary.

Hey said, “Our people couldn’t figure out who had picked her up and brought her back.”

“Trash! Not only did we lose track of her, but we didn’t even know who had taken her away. Looks like I need a new crew now, Nathan snapped.

Despite saying that, Nathan still felt deeply uneasy. What he feared most was that his suspicion might come true, that Victoria truly had a force even more powerful than Jackson backing her. And all their actions were within her speculations, and she was one step ahead of them.

As for whether Victoria really has a force more powerful than Jackson behind her, perhaps I could find out from Darell, he thought.

“So, Mr. Clark, are we still going ahead with the original plan tomorrow?” Hey asked.

The paternity test results early this morning already confirmed that Timothy wasn’t Justin’s son. Last night, Ophelia grabbed her identity card and passport, trying to sneak out through the window. But the bodyguards spotted her, and in her panic, she fell to the ground.

Justin made sure everyone ignored her, leaving her sprawled on the ground. The following day, when the paternity test results came out, he tossed the report right in Ophelia’s face while she was still breathing on the ground. “You bitch, you’ll never catch a break in this life!”

As she didn’t get help in time, Ophelia ended up paralyzed. Justin locked her up in a room and had someone break Ted’s hands, planning for them to look after each other until they died.

Hearing Nathan’s words, which felt more like a slap than comfort, Justin gave a bitter, self–mocking smile, “You’re right, Mr. Clark. If it weren’t for this mess, I’d never have found out the son I raised for twenty–two years isn’t even mine.”

With that, he grabbed the glass in front of him and took a hard swig. ‘Damn, that burns!‘ he thought. ‘It’s fucking strong!‘ he cursed inwardly. ‘It burns so much that I could cry!‘

Nathan picked up his glass and said, “As long as Curtis’s new song goes viral and totally overshadows Victoria’s, all that negative buzz will just turn into hype.

“And once your new drama, ‘Rising to the Top, airs and stomps all over ‘Chasing the Dream‘ in the ratings, Gale Entertainment’s reputation will turn around in no time. As for Victoria and Brightstar Entertainment…”

He swirled his glass, his cold face mirrored in the liquor. “They’re toast. It won’t be long before they’re doomed,” he said.
