A faint smile lingered at the corners of his lips, it was hard not to be captivated by him.

“This is your first birthday since coming back to the Binder family. Did you feel anything different so far?” Jackson asked, his voice tinged with curiosity.

Victoria paused, then joked. “Yeah, in these rich circles, people love making everything a big deal. They can hold grand parties for all reasons, and they’ll spend a lot of money.”

“Just take it as they have no better place to spend the money, and they want to flex their wealth,” Jackson laughed, teasing her.

“Indeed,” Victoria nodded, then suddenly winked at him, teasing. “Jack, there’s something really different about my birthday this year. Do you know what it is?”

Jackson’s smile grew even warmer. He looked at her gently and said softly, “Is it because of me?”

There was a hint of regret in his words, but he showed understanding and respect for Victoria, which mattered most.

Seeing how serious he was, Victoria comforted him, “It’s okay. Although you can’t have my birthday all to yourself, you can have me all to yourself when we get married, when we kiss, and when we sleep.”

Jackson burst out laughing. “Thanks, that actually made me feel better now.”

“Hey, no need to be so polite; we’re already an engaged couple,” Victoria said, waving her hand in a mock–serious manner. Jackson just stared at the screen, completely captivated by Victoria’s vibrant energy. Every moment with her was so entertaining. He really wished he could just hug her, kiss her, and sleep with her right now, just as she said.

After all the joking around, Jackson said, “Vickie, about what you told me earlier today, Ollie’s found out that the hitman Nathan hired is from Zarovnia. He’s very experienced; never slipped up once, so he’s always managed to stay off the radar. I’ll send you the details in a bit.”

Earlier that day, Victoria had told Jackson about Julia getting kidnapped and her plan to invite Simon and his family to her birthday party.
