Victoria’s lips curled into a sly smile. “That goes without saying. But hey, I was born with a kind heart.”

She was merely teasing, but Jackson looked at her seriously. “Kindness isn’t all that rare, but what’s truly impressive is holding onto it when you’re rich and powerful.”

Victoria couldn’t help but laugh at his words. She replied, “Well, I’ll just take that as a big–time compliment!”

Jackson grinned. “You totally deserve it. Honestly, I could praise you all day but still not do you justice.”

Jackson never missed a chance to shower Victoria with praise. From the very first moment he saw her, he was blown away by her beauty and her one–of–a–kind aura. The more he got to know her, the more captivated he became, as if he had fallen under a spell he couldn’t break free from.

Victoria stretched lazily and said, “Once I’ve settled things on the Binder family’s end, it’ll be your Thornton family’s turn. So, how is it now? Any movement from Gary’s end lately?”

Jackson said, “Gary knows Stephen’s cover is blown, so he can’t keep running the old junk business anymore. Yesterday, he had Stephen pass me a message, asking if I could get him a job at the Thorntons. He figures it’s safer that way.”

“So? Have you arranged it?” Victoria asked.

Jackson chuckled. “Yeah, I went along with his plan and got him a job as a gardener. As soon as his health check clears, he’ll officially start work.”

“Aren’t you afraid Gary might actually succeed in his attempt?” Victoria warned him.

“Vickie, it’s fine if you underestimate me, but not my grandpa. He pretty much knows everything we brothers do,” Jackson replied.

Victoria grinned, “It’s almost like some ancient emperor watching his sons fight bloody battles for the throne. If your grandpa really is that powerful, then Gary’s suspicions make sense.

“Are you telling me that back then, he really didn’t know about Donald’s plot? And if he actually let Donald go through with it on purpose, what would you do then?”

Jackson analyzed, “It’s not that I blindly trust Grandpa. It’s just that there’s no evidence to show he knew about Donald’s plan at that time.

If he really did know, that would mean he was already aware Cassian was an impostor when I brought him back three years ago. And if that were the case, Grandpa wouldn’t have allowed the fake Cassian to plot against me. Unless… my grandpa wants to get rid of me too.”

Victoria thought it over and nodded. “Yeah, you’re right. I guess I tend to overthink habitually.”

But Jackson shook his head. “You’re not overthinking. Being careful is always smart, and it also means you care about me. But whether my grandpa had anything to do with my mom’s death or not, let’s wait until I become the Thornton heir before we dig into that.”

“Yeah,” Victoria nodded, totally agreeing with him. ‘Power’s only safe when it’s in your own hands, she thought.

“Alright, I’m skipping the nap here today. Need to head home early, grab something, and take care of a few things,” Victoria

She packed up her medical kit and walked over to Jackson, bent down, and kissed him on the forehead. “See you tonight. Dress to impress; after all, you’re showing up as my fiance for my birthday party”

The softness of her lips made Jackson’s heart skip a beat. His lips curled into a smile. “I promise, Vickie; I won’t let you down.”

As soon as Victoria got back to Brightstar Entertainment, she wasted no time and called Mara. The call connected almost instantly.

“How’s Julia doing over there?” Victoria asked, getting straight to the point.

Mara’s voice came through the phone. “Just like you said, she went back to Darell and the others first, but it didn’t go her way. Then, just as you predicted, she acted all disappointed and went back to the Vaughn family. And she hasn’t left the house since then.”

After hearing Mara’s update, Victoria’s tone turned serious. “Alright. Keep a close watch on her every move; under no circumstances can anything happen to her, especially nothing fatal.”

Mara replied instantly, “Got it. I’ve got people watching her around the clock to ensure her safety.”

After finishing up work at the company, Victoria didn’t wait until the end of the workday and headed back to the Binder family residence early.

Daisy had just finished loading her homemade cake onto a serving cart. When she saw Victoria walk in, she instantly beamed. “Victoria, you’re back.”

Victoria walked over and asked, “Mom, did you pick up the item I mentioned on the phone?”

“Oh… yeah, I did. Hang on, I’ll grab it for you,” Daisy said. With that, Daisy turned around and went upstairs to her room. Victoria followed her.

In no time, Daisy came out of her room with a package wrapped in brown paper and handed it to Victoria, who was waiting outside. “Here you go.”

“Thanks,” Victoria said, taking the package and slipping it into her bag. “Mom, there’s something I need to handle. I’m heading out for a bit. I’ll be back soon.”

Daisy was stunned and looked at her watch. “It’s already five. Your birthday party starts at eight. How long will you be away?”

“Not long. I’ll be back in just over an hour,” Victoria said.

Only then did Daisy nod and say, “Alright, when you get back, take a shower. I’ll help you get dressed and do your makeup.”

“Okay,” Victoria said. Back in her car, she set her bag down, pulled out the package, and checked the powder with a silver needle. When the needle changed color, her gaze turned icy.

‘How could this thing just cause stomach discomfort? This is clearly an aphrodisiac, a fast–acting one, Victoria thought inwardly. ‘So it really was Nathan who gave Angelica this stuff. This is to make the Binder family and me a laughingstock in Benwig City, or maybe even nationwide.‘

Seriously, she didn’t have an antidote on hand for this kind of aphrodisiac. At best, she could only use acupuncture to suppress it, but it would still cause some harm to the body.

In no time, a bunch of bugs swarmed around her car window. Victoria unwrapped the aphrodisiac, let the bugs pick up some of the powder, then blew the leaf again. The bugs spread out, heading toward Midnight Blue in every direction.

Since it’s an aphrodisiac developed by the Clark family, they must have an antidote as well, right?‘ Victoria thought.

Now that their own customers were drugged by the aphrodisiac they had developed, Victoria wanted to see how Nathan would handle the situation.
