“Curtis, we’re heading out!” Sirena called as she stepped out of her room in a gorgeous dress. When she saw Curtis slumped on the couch, looking totally drained, she walked over to get his attention.

She called out to Curtis several times, but he didn’t respond, as if he didn’t hear her. It was as though he had slipped back into that previous dazed, muddle–headed state.

Sirena, puzzled, went closer, bent down, and gently tapped his shoulder. “Curtis, are you okay?”

Curtis slowly lifted his head, staring at Sirena with confusion in his eyes. After a moment, he seemed to snap back to reality and responded softly, “Got it, we’re leaving now.”

Despite saying that, there wasn’t the slightest hint of excitement on his face. On the contrary, it revealed a strong sense of disappointment and dejection.

Sirena grew even more puzzled. She turned to Darell, who was standing by the side, and asked, “Darell, wasn’t Curtis super excited about going to Victoria’s birthday party earlier? Why did he suddenly become like this?”

Darell, adjusting his suit, glanced at his son, who slumped on the couch, and said, “It must be because his new song didn’t get as much buzz as Victoria’s did.”

“I see,” Sirena finally realized. “I saw it. Although Victoria’s new songs are indeed selling better than yours, you did pretty well, too. You don’t have to feel so down.”

While speaking, Sirena tried to comfort Curtis. “Curtis, one setback doesn’t define you. Just make a comeback next time.”

Thinking about his own recent losses, Darell told himself, ‘That’s right, one setback doesn’t mean anything. Tonight, we’ll turn things around for the Binder family!‘

Curtis finally spoke, his voice flat and defeated. “Aunt Sirena, you don’t understand.”

“I…” Sirena saw her kindness go unappreciated, so she gave up trying to comfort him. “Alright, I guess I just don’t understand.”

She could barely manage her own life right now and was not in the mood to comfort others. All she wanted now was to return to the good life back then. Even if she couldn’t return to the Clark family as Mrs. Clark, she at least wanted to return to the Binder family and live in comfort again.

“Alright, Curtis. If you show up like this, Victoria will look down on you even more. Pull yourself together,” Darell said, adjusting his suit and grabbing the gift as he walked out.

Sirena urged, “Come on, Curtis, keep up.” With that, she headed out too.

Curtis quietly pulled out a tiny box from his pocket. It was the birthday gift he and Simon had picked out together. ‘Whatever, Curtis thought to himself. ‘Even if Victoria never forgives me, I’ll still wish her well. He then tucked the gift away, got up, and followed after them.

By the time they got to the Binder family residence, it was already 7:30 p.m. The sky was completely dark, but the entire residence was brightly lit. Even the exterior walls were draped with decorative lights and posted with all kinds of birthday

messages.

As Curtis got out of the car,

he spotted Simon just reaching the front gate, handing his invitation to the Goldenwood Villa butler, Alonso Steele, who was stationed there to check guests in.

“Simon“” Curtis called out, quickly walking over. Simon turned around, and a glance at Curtis was all it took to tell that Curtis was bununed about his songs flopping compared to Victoria’s.

As Curtis was approaching, Simon asked, “Rough night?”

Curtis gave a wry smile. “Who could sleep after all that?” he said bitterly.

After listening to Victoria’s three new songs, he was glued to his phone, frantically checking all the major platforms for comments about himself and Victoria.

The ride of public opinion changed pretty fast. At first, he had way more supporters than Victoria, but as time passed, more and more people started cheering for Victoria. And the negative comments about him started flooding in.

Curtis stayed up all night, glued to his phone, and only crashed around six in the morning. He spent the whole day in a dazed, half–asleep state in his rented apartment and didn’t even show up at Gale Entertainment. Marty called him several times, but he didn’t pick up at all.

Simon sighed and gave Curtis a gentle pat on the shoulder. “Don’t take it too hard. If anything, it just proves how talented Victoria really is,” Simon said.

Curtis shrugged helplessly. “Yeah, what else can I do but let it go?”

Darell and Sirena walked over as well. “Dad, Aunt Sirena,” Simon greeted them.

Sirena sighed and said, “Curtis is feeling pretty low. Try cheering him up.”

Simon replied, “It’s fine. Let him have some space; he’ll come around.”

When Alonso saw Darell and his family members approaching, he asked, “Invitations, please?”

Darell and Sirena handed their invitation, followed by Curtis. After checking all four invitations, Alonso said, “Please come in.” As the four of them were walking in together, Alonso suddenly asked, “By the way, where’s Mrs. Binder?”

Simon and Curtis both froze for a second. They exchanged a look. ‘Yeah, Victoria’s birthday party is about to start; where’s Mom?”

Sirena, meanwhile, glanced at Darell with a thoughtful expression. Darell ignored Alonso and turned to his sons. “Let’s go in. Your mom will probably be here later.”

After watching the four of them go in, Alonso picked up his walkie–talkie and said, “Mr. and Mrs. Binder, Darell and others are here.”

“Okay,” Daisy said. After switching off the walkie–talkie, Alonso went back to greet the other guests.

Not long after, Julian, Thea, and their five sons arrived as well. “Jonah, why are you walking so fast? Can’t you wait for Mom and Dad?” Benny shouted right after getting out of the car.

Thea waved her hand. “Alright, let him be.”

Benny hesitated. “What about me?” he asked.

Thea shot him a look. “You, too, get lost.”

“Alright, I’ll get lost immediately. Benny said, striding off toward the door.

Before Alonso could even greet Jonah and Benny, the two had already dashed inside like whirlwinds. When Julian and Thea drew closer, Alonso greeted them and invited them in.

Before long, the other guests, Annie, Oliver, and the rest, arrived as well. Since the beginning, Alonso had noticed a car parked in the corner opposite the main gate, but the driver hadn’t gotten out of the car the whole time.

Only when Jackson and Gerry showed up did Alonso finally see it was Gavin who stepped out of the car. He grabbed his gift and walked straight over to Jackson.
