What’s happening?‘ Annie wondered. The more she looked at Stephen, the more she felt Stephen bore some resemblance to Jackson. While thinking about that, Annie turned to size up her cousin, Jackson.
Jackson’s features were truly exceptional, like a masterpiece carved by a master sculptor, flawless from every angle. From the front, he was unbeatable; in profile, simply breathtaking.
His nose was naturally well–defined, his lips red without any need for color. His skin wasn’t flawless, but it was smooth and refined. The under–eye fullness lent them a faint, almost imperceptible tenderness, as if they could captivate the soul.
Today, Jackson ditched the usual formal suit and shirt. Instead, he showed up in an outfit that was obviously a designer’s custom creation, tailored just for him.
Every detail, from head to toe, was meticulously put together in a rich, deep blue palette, making him look even more refined and elegant, with a truly distinguished air.
‘Looks like Jackson really went to great lengths to please Victoria, Annie mused.
Gerry turned to his eldest grandson, Jackson, and asked, “What did that Fairbank kid want from you?”
Jackson just smiled faintly. “Nothing much. He just asked me to pass a birthday present to Vickie.”
Hearing Gerry and Jackson talking, Annie pulled her gaze back and said proudly, “I’ve already grabbed the gift Gavin meant for Victoria. She’ll never get her hands on it.”
Gerry said, “That Fairbank kid really won’t give up. If it weren’t for the guilt over him being abandoned all those years, the Fairbank family would never have tolerated all the trouble he’s caused you lately.”
After saying that, he caught, out of the corner of his eye, a gaze resting on him. It was from Stephen. After being noticed by Gerry, Stephen didn’t look away. Instead, he spoke up, “It’s an honor to be at the same table as you, Mr. Thornton.”
When Stephen spoke up, the entire Binder family turned to look at him. Curtis couldn’t figure it out, thinking, ‘Isn’t Stephen one of the cast members in ‘Chasing the Dream? Since when did he get so close to Victoria?
‘Getting invited is one thing, but being seated at the same table as the Thornton family and us? That’s some serious status.
Gerry’s sharp gaze darkened. “What’s your name?” he asked.
Stephen didn’t expect Gerry to ask for his name so directly. He paused for a moment, then replied, “Stephen Scott.”
“What do you do?” Gerry asked.
“I’m an actor,” Stephen replied.
Gerry suddenly stopped speaking and averted his gaze, leaving Stephen at a loss for how to continue the conversation.
‘So this is my grandpa?‘ Stephen thought to himself. ‘He really gives off that cold, commanding vibe, even when he’s not angry, Stephen mused. ‘Especially toward people outside his family!
Stephen silently formed an impression of this unfamiliar grandfather in his heart. When he came back to his senses, he saw Jackson smile at him but say nothing. After all, Gary had specifically instructed him not to reveal his identity for now.
Curtis couldn’t hold back any longer. “Stephen, are you really that close with my sister? When did you two even get to know
each other?” he asked.

Stephen shifted huis gaze to Curtis and replied, “None of your damn business.”
“You…” Curtis sputtered, pissed off. Simon put a hand on his shoulder, signaling for him to stay calm.

Stephen figured his earlier reply hadn’t hit hard enough, so he added, “Even if my relationship with Ms. Binder is bad, it’s definitely still better than her relationship with you.”
Curtis, still pissed, shot back, “Who do you think you are? You even think you’re closer to Vickie than me?”
Stephen smirked. “That’s the point. I’m a nobody, but even so, my relationship with Mr. Binder is better than yours. Maybe you should reflect on yourself.” Curtis was totally speechless at Stephen’s retort.
Simon looked at Stephen and was way calmer than Curtis. “I remember you were acting in Vickie’s project, ‘Chasing the Dream.‘ She invited you to her birthday party, so it looks like you two have a special connection.”
After saying that, Simon glanced at Jackson, clearly hinting at something. However, Jackson didn’t even spare Simon a glance.
Stephen shot back, “What are you trying to say? That I have a shady, unspeakable relationship with Ms. Binder? As expected, bad upbringing leads to bad behavior. The two of you are truly unlikeable in the slightest; no wonder Ms. Binder abandoned you guys.”
Simon was hit right where it hurt, and for a moment, he was totally speechless, feeling incredibly embarrassed.
Annie chimed in, “You two seriously think Victoria seated you here because she gives a damn about you? Nope; she just wanted to embarrass you guys in front of everyone.”
Calvin said with a frosty look, “You guys are indeed seriously embarrassing.”
Darell clenched his fists tightly. Sirena’s expression also turned ugly, and she grew even more convinced that the old man had long deserved to die.
‘He doesn’t even protect his own sons and grandsons. Instead, he turns his back on his family, siding with the outsiders, A senile old man like him should drop dead already, she cursed inwardly.

In Nathan’s private room at Midnight Blue, with eyes glued to the big screen showing the scene in the Binder family’s Goldenwood Villa, Zachary exclaimed, “Mr. Clark, this is awesome! We don’t get to attend Victoria’s birthday party, but we still get to watch it live.”
Darell was wearing a mini camera, so Nathan and the crew at Midnight Blue could see the situation at Victoria’s birthday party in real time.
Nathan said, “Just sit back and watch. Victoria’s birthday party tonight is going to be spectacular.” He then glanced at Angelica, who was leaning against Zachary, and asked, “Everything’s taken care of, right?”
Angelica nodded. “All set, Mr. Clark. You can relax.” Only then did Nathan shift his gaze away.
Zachary was confused. “What’s that all set?” he asked.
Angelica flashed him a sweet, delicate smile. “Nothing really. But I do have to thank you, Zachary, for lending me that 600 thousand dollars.”
She said it on purpose, making sure Nathan caught every word. She wanted him to know just how much effort she had put into going after Victoria.

Zachary finally realized, “So you borrowed 600 thousand dollars from me just to do errands for Mr. Clark? You should’ve told me earlier, so I would’ve lent it to you no questions asked.”
Angelica forced a smile, but deep down, she was cursing him out. ‘What’s the point of saying that now? I thought you would’ve just given me the money. Turns out you only meant to lend it to me. What a stingy bastard!
No wonder you’re just a powerless loser in your family. Even with this bet against Victoria, not a single family member bothered to support you!‘
“Nathan, what’s this drama you keep mentioning? Can’t you give me a sneak peek?” Lexi pouted playfully, clinging to Nathan’s arm. Because of Nathan, Lexi couldn’t attend Victoria’s birthday party tonight, and she was pretty disappointed.
But when Nathan called her over to Midnight Blue to watch the live stream of Victoria’s birthday party together, she quickly rushed over after wrapping up her new luxury–brand endorsement shoot.
Nathan shot her a glance. “The party’s about to begin. Just chill, you’ll see soon enough.”
Lexi huffed, pretending to be annoyed. “You’re such a tease.” She turned to the screen, her expression growing anxious as she watched.
Victoria, I really hope my reminder earlier helped. Please stay safe, Lexi worried to herself.
