Chapter 367
Hearing Julia’s words, Darell stiffened and immediately shot back, “That’s nonsense! Why would I ever have someone kidnap you? You’re my wife!”
His voice was firm and forceful, like he was truly innocent.
Juha fell silent.
Seeing this, Darell’s tone softened. He walked up to Julia, took her hand, his eyes full of concern. “Julia, I had no idea you were kidnapped all this time…”
His voice choked up. “You’ve suffered so much because of me.”
Finally, his gaze hardened. “That wretched daughter of mine, Victoria, actually did this to you! Absolutely unforgivable! I’ll make sure she pays for this!”
Seeing her husband’s concern, Julia felt her trust in him grow even stronger.
Just as I thought, that wretched Victoria was only trying to trick me, to drive a wedge between Darell and me!’ Julia thought.
She actually claimed Darell would have someone kill me? What a joke!’ Julia scoffed inwardly.
She and Darell had been deeply in love for thirty whole years!
Seeing his dad also blaming Victoria for Mom’s kidnapping, Simon felt completely drained.
He sighed. “Alright, let’s stop embarrassing ourselves out here. Our family’s already been humiliated enough! Let’s head home. I’ll find out who really kidnapped Mom!”
With that, he strode off toward his parked car.
Julia said in disappointment, “Curtis, why does Simon just refuse to believe me?”
Curtis gave her a complicated look. “Come on, Mom, I know this is all too much, but like Simon said, let’s just go back to the apartment for now. He and I will figure out the truth.”
“Alright,” Julia agreed. After everything she’d been through lately, all she wanted was a little peace.
As for what Victoria claimed about Darell sending someone to kill her, Julia just scoffed at the thought. ‘No way I’d ever believe that,’ she thought to herself.
This was Benwig, with surveillance cameras everywhere. It wasn’t some remote dump like Mullinran Village. Nobody could just kill her here that easily.
With that thought, Julia got into the car, closed her eyes, and drifted off to sleep. She never saw the deep, cold gaze in Darell’s eyes beside her. There was no hint of tenderness or warmth, only unwavering determination and ruthless intent.

Victoria turned to everyone with a bright smile. “Alright, let’s not let what just happened get us down. It’s time for cake!
Just then, Zoe wheeled out the cake, beaming. “Miss, this cake was made by Mrs. Binder herself!”
Annie exclaimed, “Wow, this cake is gorgeous! Mrs. Binder, you’re so talented! Not only do you design amazing clothes, but your cakes are next-level too!”

Daisy laughed. “Well, since it’s for Victoria, I just put in a little extra effort.”
The cake was a towering eight-tiered masterpiece, like a miniature palace. Each tier gradually decreased in diameter from the base to the top, forming an elegant, tapered silhouette.
It was decorated in alternating shades of ivory and champagne gold, its surface covered in delicate fondant as smooth as silk, reflecting a soft, gentle glow under the lights.
The bottom tier was encircled by hand-sculpted sugar vines, while the middle layers were adorned with fresh sugar roses and lilies, their colors shifting from pale pink to deep red. At the very top, there stood a figurine that looked just like Victoria
so lifelike that it was almost uncanny.
Victoria suddenly remembered-no wonder her gorgeous mom had been sitting at home every day for the past month, sketching and doodling on her tablet.
So that’s what she’d been up to-designing this cake just for her.
Victoria linked arms with Daisy and said, “Mom, so this is the surprise you’ve been working on for me!”
Daisy gave a shy smile. “Well… Victoria, you don’t think it’s too plain, right?”
In an instant, the whole living room dimmed, with only the candle casting a gentle glow. Victoria stood before the massive cake, hands pressed together, looking absolutely radiant in the candlelight.
He paused, then raised his eyes to look at her, Worry surfaced like an undercurrent beneath still waters-unseen yet unmistakably deep. “My heart’s been on edge the whole time,” he added.
Victoria met his gaze. “Jack, just like you said–no guts, no glory. This time, I really plan to make sure Darell goes down for good. Otherwise, like Grandpa said, he’d still be holding out hope for Darell’s family.”
She leaned in, her lips close to his ear, voice barely above a whisper. “But…making you so anxious like this really is my fault.” She drew out the last word, her eyes shimmering with a teasing, mysterious charm. “So, I’ve decided to give you a little treat.” Jack was totally thrown off his game by her sudden closeness and that deliberately low, teasing voice. His Adam’s apple bobbed, eyes lighting up with curiosity and anticipation. “Oh? What kind of reward are you talking about?”
Victoria straightened up, catching the way his curiosity flared, and he was trying to play it cool. A sly, triumphant smile curled at her lips. “Not telling you yet. Wait till the party’s over, then you’ll get your reward. I promise you’ll love it,” she said.
Jack laughed softly, totally resigned and letting her have her way, his chuckle full of helpless indulgence.
He took Victoria’s hand, wrapping it tight in his warm palm, his thumb gently stroking her soft skin. “With you saying that, I’m pretty sure I won’t even taste the food tonight. My mind’s gonna be all over the place.”
Victoria felt her fingertips tingle from his heated gaze and the warmth of his hand. She gave him a bright, mischievous smile. “Then go ahead and let your mind run wild.”
Jack let out a soft chuckle, grinning at her. “Yeah, what else can I do?”

Outside the main entrance of Midnight Blue.
“Why won’t you let us in? I’m a member here!”
“Do you guys even want to do business or not?”
“What’s up with Midnight Blue lately? First, there was that random blackout; now you’re turning customers away! Are you guys going out of business or what?”
When Miranda arrived at Midnight Blue, she saw a group of customers already causing a commotion at the entrance.
