Nathan gave her a frosty stare. “I want answers, too. The drug we were dosed with is the same one I handed over to you. No outsider could get their hands on it. This stuff was supposed to be used at Victoria’s birthday party, but somehow it ended up hitting a bunch of other guests at Midnight Blue.”

Angelica’s face changed. “Mr. Clark…it wasn’t me…the person I paid off must’ve turned on me…”

“Ah!” Angelica cried out.

Before she could finish, Nathan slammed his foot into her chest, knocking her flat on the floor.

“You call this handling things? I’m seriously starting to wonder if I should even let you live,” Nathan growled, his voice like a demon, cold enough to freeze your blood.

Angelica was trembling, fear coursing through her. She definitely didn’t want to die.

She’d barely escaped Howard’s clutches, and her life was still tied to him. Honestly, she didn’t mind getting tangled up with a few more if it meant surviving.

Thinking of this, Angelica crawled back to her knees. “Mr. Clark… I’ll hunt that person down and drag his corpse here to make amends!”

Nathan sneered, “A cheap life like his? What the hell would I want his corpse for? Compared to what Midnight Blue lost tonight, it’s not even worth mentioning!”

Angelica crawled over and wrapped herself around Nathan’s leg, sobbing, “Mr. Clark, please, don’t kill me! Just give me one more chance. I promise, I won’t let you down!”

Nathan kicked her away again, looking down at her from above. “Angelica, this is your last shot. Next year, at the Clark family’s secret party, if you can find someone to satisfy a certain VIP and get him to back the Clark family, help us crush the Thornton family and take their place. “As for Victoria, that’s none of your business anymore,” Nathan said coldly.

Angelica scrambled back to her knees, frantically knocking her head on the floor. “I understand! I swear I’ll get it done!”

“Get out!” Nathan barked.

Angelica had never found the word “get out” so sweet, like music to her ears. She scrambled out of the private room, practically crawling and stumbling in her rush to escape.

Not long after, the manager rushed in, holding a sheet of paper.

“Mr. Clark, this is the list of guests who were drugged tonight,” the manager said.

Nathan looked through the list–most of the names were ones he recognized.

Sure enough, nearly all of them had some business connection with the Clark family.

Most of these guests were pretty ordinary, nowhere near the Clark family’s status, and their dealings with the Clark family were just minor collaborations.

But there were a few names on that list that even the Clark family had to tread carefully around.

The only reason these guests weren’t pressing charges or demanding answers right away was that they didn’t want to make a scene and risk getting caught up in the fallout themselves.
