Geoffrey stared at Victoria’s reply, his face twisting slightly. ‘Victoria really is just as savage as she is online,’ he thought.

Victoria glanced at the message from Geoffrey and let out a mocking laugh. ‘Interesting,‘ she thought.

This whole “retreat to advance” trick felt oddly familiar to her. ‘Oh right, Geoffrey kind of reminds me of Angelica, but as a guy, Victoria mused. ‘No wonder he gives off the same annoying vibe.

She didn’t bother replying. Instead, she started a video call with Jackson.

As soon as Jackson’s ridiculously handsome face appeared on the screen, Victoria couldn’t help but say, “Honestly, your face is the only thing that actually makes me feel relaxed and happy.”

Jackson’s eyes flickered with confusion. “What?” he asked.

“Some guy’s trying to seduce me,” Victoria said.

“Oh? Who’s got the guts to try that, besides Gavin?” Jackson teased.

“Geoffrey,” Victoria replied.

Jackson looked genuinely surprised to hear that name. “Ah, him.” Jackson said.

“Yeah, what do you think of him?” Victoria asked.

“He uses his status to chase after a bunch of sweet, naive girls, leaving them heartbroken. He thinks he’s some

“So you’re saying I’m not exactly innocent anymore?” Victoria joked.

“What, pure evil now?” Jackson teased.

Victoria cracked up at Jackson’s words. “Wow, that’s savage!”

But Jackson’s expression turned serious. “Honestly, I’d sooner believe Gavin could win your heart back than think Geoffrey could ever fool you. Gavin might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but at least he’s genuine.”

At the mention of Gavin, Victoria’s smile faded, and she let out a sigh. “Ugh, don’t even bring him up.”

“Did he reach out to you again?” Jackson asked.

“Yeah, he asked if I liked the gift he sent,” Victoria replied.

Jackson remained silent and Victoria noticed Jackson curling his fingers and giving a quiet cough, so she said, “He knows you didn’t give me the gift.”

Jackson didn’t feel guilty at all. “He should’ve realized that I’m his love rival.” Now that she mentioned it, Jackson was actually curious what Gavin would send Victoria next.

“He’s honestly kind of dumb,” Victoria had to admit. Even though he was a bit dumb, he had a heart of gold.

That was why Victoria shut Gavin down so decisively; she just wanted him to move on and find someone who was actually right for him, instead of hanging around her and wasting his time.

“How’s everything on your end? Has Gary been settled into the Thornton family yet?” Victoria changed the subject.

Jackson grinned. “Yeah, he’s already started as the gardener. I even ran into him when I got back. I’ve already got someone keeping tabs on him.”

“There’s just so much going on. I really hope we can get all this sorted out before our wedding,” Victoria said, letting out a lazy stretch.

Jackson’s usual easy smile faded as he grew serious. “Vickie, I won’t let anyone ruin our wedding like they did our engagement party.”

Victoria flashed a confident smile. “I feel the same way.”

“So, anyone who might try to get in the way of our wedding, we need to handle them before the big day,” Jackson said, his voice soft but filled with a determination Victoria had never heard from him before.

“Alright, let’s call it a night. I’m gonna take Greenie and the others out for a buffet later,” Victoria said. As soon as she finished, Greenie, who had been napping in its cat bed, lifted its head, looking at Victoria with hopeful

eyes.

With all the snow lately, it had been ages since Victoria had taken the three of them out for a buffet.

“Alright, but I’m curious; don’t they need to hibernate?” Jackson asked.

Victoria smiled and got out of bed. “Hibernation’s just for animals that need to save up energy to get through winter. These guys? They’ve got plenty to eat, so no worries.”

“Makes sense,” Jackson replied.

“Alright, let’s call it a night. See ya,” Victoria said.

After ending the video call with Victoria, Jackson sent a message to Annie: [Did you get rid of Gavin’s gifts? What did he send to Vickie?]

Ten minutes later. Annie finally replied: [He sent all sorts of stuff like necklaces and bags. The latest birthday present was a doll supposed to look like Vickie, but honestly, it barely even looks like her.

[It’s sloppy, so I’m pretty sure he didn’t have it custom–made. Looks like he tried to make it himself.]

Jackson: [What did you do with them?]

Annie: [I was planning to send everything back to Gavin at the Fairbank family, but I’ve been busy with streaming these past couple of days, so I haven’t shipped them out yet.]

Jackson: [Alright, appreciate your effort.]

Annie: [Piece of cake!]

Jackson put his phone down, his gaze dropping as he fell into thought. ‘Geoffrey, huh?‘ Jackson thought. ‘I doubt he’ll last long with Vickie.‘

Three days later, as they sat down for breakfast, Victoria glanced at Geoffrey, who was sitting next to her. “You’ve been staying at the Binder family’s for three days now. Looks like you’re pretty much healed up.”

For the past three days, Geoffrey had been coming over to Goldenwood Villa every morning to have breakfast with them. Daisy and Victoria didn’t turn him away either.

Every morning, Geoffrey would personally take over the kitchen, experimenting with new breakfast dishes for everyone. And every time before digging in, Victoria would check for poison, just to be safe.

Hearing Victoria’s words, Geoffrey paused, then turned to her with a hint of reluctance. “Victoria, I’m pretty much healed up now. If you’d rather I didn’t stay here, I’ll move out in a couple of days and go stay with my

mom.”

Victoria gave him a teasing grin. “Oh, I wouldn’t have guessed you actually cared about seeing your mom. I thought you couldn’t care less about her.”

Geoffrey replied, “It’s not that I don’t want to see my mom. I know she made mistakes, so I thought staying here to atone for her would be the right thing to do.”

“Atone?” Victoria kept a straight face, but her tone was dripping with sarcasm. “You want to atone for your mom? Is that for real?”

Geoffrey nodded openly. “Yeah, I’m staying here because I’ve got nowhere else to go, and I want to atone for my mom’s mistakes.”

“So that means you’re ready to face some consequences, huh?” Victoria’s eyes lit up with anticipation.

Geoffrey had a feeling Victoria was plotting something, but he just flashed a harmless, innocent smile. “As long as you and the family can forgive me, I’m ready to face whatever comes.”

Victoria nodded, grinning. “Alright, get up and stand behind your chair.”

Geoffrey had no clue what she was planning, but he just went along with it, getting up and moving behind his chair.

As soon as he was in place, Victoria swiveled in her chair to face him and, without warning, kicked him straight in the knee.
