Chapter 407

Chapter 407

Nathan’s face turned even uglier as he shot Victoria a murderous glare. “Victoria, don’t think I won’t kill you just because we’re in a police car!”

But Victoria wasn’t the least bit intimidated. She kept smiling, even giving him a look of mock pity. “Even if we weren’t in a police car, you still couldn’t lay a finger on me. Besides, the Clark family is in deep trouble now. Looks like you’re all about to lose everything.”

Nathan’s fury finally boiled over. His eyes bulged as he roared, “Victoria!” His voice echoed through the cramped car, thick with rage and desperation.

Just then, the cop in the front passenger seat spoke up. “That’s enough! Ms. Binder, stop provoking the suspect!”

“Alright, officer,” Victoria replied, nodding. She switched to a sweet, obedient act, like she was a totally different person from the one who’d been roasting Nathan just seconds ago.

All the way to the police station, Victoria didn’t tease Nathan anymore. Instead, she pulled out her phone and started texting Jackson: [Jack, guess what I’m up to?]

Jackson didn’t reply; he was probably busy dealing with Xavier’s mess. It wasn’t until she got to the station that Jackson finally replied.

Jackson: [At the police station?]

Victoria was stunned, and she replied: [How did you know?]

Jackson: [Because I saw you.]

Victoria looked up and, sure enough, spotted Jackson in his wheelchair at the entrance of the police station. Ollie was pushing him, coming over to her at a leisurely pace.

Victoria put her phone away and asked, “Why did you come? Is it because of Xavier’s situation?”

“Yeah, just answering a few questions. It’s all sorted now,” Jackson replied, his gaze drifting over to Nathan, who was watching them from a distance. “So, what’s your story? Why are you here with Nathan?”

Victoria grinned mischievously. “I called the

cops and

got

Nathan arrested.”

Jackson was puzzled by her reply.

Victoria explained, “Nathan called the police to search the Binder family, but they came up empty-handed. But I had proof he beat up Geoffrey pretty badly, so now he’s being interrogated and investigated at the station.”

Jackson chuckled. “So, you turned the tables on him.”

Victoria flashed a sly grin. “Too bad for him; he couldn’t find anyone at my place, but I’ve got evidence that makes him look way more guilty.”

Jackson asked, “Want me to wait for you?”

“No need. You’ve got your hands full with Xavier’s shipment getting seized and all that,” Victoria said.

“Yeah, my grandpa knows about it now and wants me to go back with Xavier,” Jackson explained. “I’ll head out then.

“Alright, talk to you tonight!” Victoria walked into the police station, where the officers were already checking out the surveillance footage they’d pulled from the Binder family.

In the interrogation room, the officer told Nathan what they’d found in the surveillance footage. “The footage only shows that Geoffrey was brought back to the Binder family by Victoria, and then he left early this morning” the officer stated matter-of-factly.

Nathan’s brows knitted tightly. He was clearly frustrated by the result and snapped. “No way! There’s no way Victoria would’ve let Geoffrey walk free!” His voice was full of doubt and disbelief.

The officer kept a straight face as he looked at Nathan and continued, “Victoria provided plenty of solid evidence, including footage showing her rescuing Geoffrey and getting him into the car.

“As for whether you were the one who hurt Geoffrey, we’ve already sent someone to the Clark family to pull the surveillance footage from four days ago.”

It wasn’t long before the Clark family’s surveillance footage was delivered.

The officers went over the footage carefully, then told Victoria, “From what we can see, when Geoffrey left the Clark family. he didn’t have any visible injuries. So right now, we can’t really prove that Nathan actually hurt him.”

Hearing that, Victoria looked a bit disappointed. “Alright then.”

‘Huh, so Geoffrey didn’t mess himself up at home. Guess he’s more careful than I thought, Victoria mused.

After a long day at the station, Victoria finally got to leave that night. Meanwhile, Nathan would have to remain under investigation until Geoffrey was located.

By the time Victoria got back to Goldenwood Villa, it was already eight at night. As soon as she walked in, she saw Hector keeping Daisy company on the living room sofa.

The moment Daisy saw Victoria, she sprang up from the sofa like a coiled spring, rushed over, and grabbed her hand, her face full of worry. “Victoria, are you alright?”

“Mom, I’m fine,” Victoria replied.

“That’s good to hear,” Daisy said, then asked, “So where did you take Geoffrey? The cops didn’t figure out you were the one who took him, did they?”

Victoria replied, “Mom, don’t worry. I had all the relevant surveillance footage hacked and erased, so the police can’t trace anything back to me. The evidence I gave the station is real and points straight at Nathan; he doesn’t stand a chance.”

Hearing that, Daisy finally let out a sigh of relief. “That’s good, that’s good. Thank goodness we got Geoffrey out of there in time today; otherwise, things could’ve gotten really messy.”

Just then, Hector, who’d been sitting quietly off to the side, suddenly spoke up. “Victoria, what are you planning to do with Geoffrey? Are you just going to keep him locked up like this?”

Victoria replied, “Yeah, we’ll keep him put for now. Judging by how Nathan acted today, he actually cares a lot about Geoffrey. If Nathan tries to mess with the Binder family again, we might be able to use that against him later.”

Just then, Mabel brought out the food. “Ms. Binder, you’ve had a long day. You must be starving: come eat!”

Daisy chimed in, “Yeah, let’s eat first.”

Victoria nodded. “Alright! I’m really hungry!”

At the Thornton’s manor, the air in the hall was thick with tension, like a storm was about to break.

Xavier sat on the right sofa. leaning forward slightly, his hands clenched into fists, his eyes sharp as blades, ready to strike at

any moment.

In stark contrast, Jackson sat quietly off to the side, his expression calm and unruffled, like a still pool of water.

Gerry sat at the head of the hall, his voice deep and grave as he shattered the tense silence. “I’ve already heard about the shipment of non-ferrous metals from Afriska being seized by the authorities for contraband. They’re investigating it now.”

His eyes were fixed on Xavier. “So, what exactly was the contraband?”

Xavier answered, “Someone intentionally mixed radioactive material into the ore.” His voice carried a trace of anger and frustration.

Gerry’s brows knitted tightly, his expression growing even more serious. He picked up his cup of coffee, took a small sip. then spoke again. “What have you two done about it?”

Xavier replied, “Right after it happened, my dad had our Afriska team review the mine’s surveillance, track shipments via GPS, and check all logs. We’re cross-referencing for unusual timestamps, unauthorized stops, and suspicious interactions.” His gaze hardened as he continued, “Grandpa, I’m here today because I want to investigate Jackson’s phone and bank records from the past three months. I’m convinced Jackson’s behind all this!”
