Chapter 415

“Okay,” Jackson said, nodding. He gently ran his palm over his leg, feeling the faint heat in his muscles and tendons.

Half an hour later, Greenie and Whitey slowly slid off Jackson’s leg and swam back into Victoria’s bag. Their unique massage technique helped relax his muscles and joints, and even boosted his energy flow.

Victoria walked over to Jackson and held out her hand, “Come on, give it a try

Jackson took her hand, and as their palms met, he instinctively tightened his grip, a hint of nervousness flickering in his

eyes.

Victoria noticed the slight tremor in his fingertips and knew he wasn’t as calm as he looked. “Don’t be nervous,” she said softly, steadying him with her other hand on his waist. “Take it slow.”

Jackson took a deep breath, gripped the edge, and slowly pushed himself up. His legs were still stiff, but compared to a few days ago, he could feel they were regaining their strength.

One step. He moved his left foot forward, knee slightly bent, calf muscles tight, planting his foot firmly on the floor.

Two steps. His right foot followed; slow, but steady. With every step, he felt a little more sure of himself.

Victoria held her breath, watching Jackson take each step forward. When he finally stopped, he glanced down at her, a smile tugging at his lips. “I did it.”

She looked up at him, her eyes suddenly growing hot with emotion. “Yes, you did it,” she replied softly, her voice brimming with pride.

Jackson gazed down at her, then suddenly reached out, cupped the back of her neck, and pressed his forehead to hers. His voice was low and husky. “Vickie, thank you.”

Victoria blinked, her eyes stinging with emotion, then deliberately huffed, “Words are cheap. When you’re all better, and after we’re married, you’d better show me what you’ve got.”

Jackson chuckled, his chest rumbling with laughter. “Alright, I promise I won’t let you down.”

Victoria cleared her throat. “Alright, let’s see you take a couple more steps. Don’t slack off!”

Jackson smiled, but as she turned, he suddenly reached out and pulled her into his arms, holding her tight. “Vickie,” he whispered in her ear, “I really won’t let you down in any way, I promise.”

Victoria froze for a moment, then gently hugged him back, her voice soft with a hint of laughter. “Well, I’ll be waiting to see.

Sophie was the one who came to the police station to pick up Gavin. The officer was momentarily stunned by Sophie’s beauty, then snapped back to reality. “You must be Gavin’s family, right? He…

Before the officer could finish, Sophie marched right up to Gavin and booted him out of his chair, knocking him flat on the floor. Without missing a beat, she grabbed a stool and brought it down hard on Cavin, who was still sprawled out:

“You keep acting like a damn fool, embarrassing the Fairbank family! I’ve been giving you way too much slack, and you just keep taking advantage again and again! This is the last straw. If you screw up one more time. I’ll send you overseas myself!” Sophie snapped.

The officer was sweating bullets, not sure what to do with this chaos. Appearances sure are deceiving the officer thought.

“Ma’am, you…” the officer tried to step in, but Sophie turned around and said, “No offense, officer, but I’m just teaching my brother a lesson. This is a family matter.”

“Oh…” The officer looked pretty uncomfortable, but couldn’t really argue. “Just handle your family stuff at home, okay?”

“So, can I take him home now?” Sophie asked, straight to the point.

“Yeah, you can, but…” the officer started, but Sophie didn’t let him finish.

“Alright, I’m taking him home then!” she said, not giving him a chance to finish.

With that, Sophie waved her hand, and her bodyguards came forward and dragged Gavin up from the floor. He looked completely defeated.

Seeing they were about to leave, the officer said helplessly, “Ma’am, please sign here before you take him.”

Sophie turned back, grabbed the pen, scribbled her name with a flourish, and hustled Gavin out of the station in a hurry.

Gavin got dumped into the car, and once Sophie was inside, she grabbed his collar and started slapping him right across the face, right where those red marks were still showing.

After four hard slaps, Sophie fixed her gaze on Gavin, her teeth clenched. “Are

you awake now?”

The unexpected slaps left Gavin shell-shocked. After a while, he finally came to and muttered, “You’ve never been in love, so you can’t possibly understand what I’m going through…”

Before he could finish, Sophie delivered another brutal slap to Gavin’s face. This one hit even harder, and a thin line of blood appeared at the corner of his mouth.

Sophie’s hand shook from the force, and she snapped, “Who says I’ve never liked anyone? I’m even worse off than you. can’t even confess, all I can do is pine for them in silence!”

Gavin was stunned by the slap, just staring blankly at Sophie, not even knowing what to say for a moment. Suddenly, his

eyes

lit up.

He sat up straight, leaning in with nosy excitement. “Seriously? Who do you like? Why is it just unrequited love?”

Sophie hadn’t expected Gavin to press her so hard. Her expression grew awkward and a bit embarrassed. “It was all stuff from when I was young. Let’s just drop it.”

Gavin clearly wasn’t letting up. “Come on, spill it! I wanna know!”

Sophie shot him a glare and snapped back, annoyed. “No way! Weren’t you just acting like the world was ending? Now you suddenly want to know who I like?”

Gavin was left speechless by Sophie’s words, his face turning sour again. He grumbled, “It’s just that right now, I need someone who’s even more miserable than me to make me feel better about myself.”

Sophie was at a loss for words. ‘Well, he’s got a point, she thought.

But there was absolutely no way Sophie would ever let anyone know she’d once had feelings for Jackson. That would be ware too embarrassing.

If people found out she’d liked Jackson, they’d just say. “Turns out she’s just like all the other girls.

She was the Fairbank family’s heiress, a top-tier elite in Benwig City. If she ever admitted to liking someone, everyone would see her as throwing herself at him, being a simp, and she’d fall from grace. So she chose to stay untouchable, curtun

off all feelings and love, forever.

So after finally tracking down her dumbass brother, Sophie actually felt a huge weight lift off her shoulders; she was genuinely relieved. As long as Gavin got married and had a kid, nobody would hassle her about tying the knot or popping out babies ever again.

Seeing Sophie still wouldn’t spill, Gavin snorted, full of disdain. “Forget it, it’s not like I’m dying to know or anything.”

Sophie snapped, “Then zip it!”

“Zip it, zip it!” Gavin shot her a glare, then turned to the window, sulking.

The scenery outside the window zipped by as usual, but Gavin’s mood was just as turbulent, changing as quickly as the world outside. He was all over the place emotionally, feeling pretty messed up inside.

After a while, he finally took a deep breath, sounding defeated. “Don’t worry, I won’t chase after Victoria anymore.”
