Gavin stared in disbelief at the woman who looked absolutely radiant in front of the big screen.
‘Wait, that’s Victoria!‘ Gavin thought, stunned. ‘How did she end up here? Hold on, did she just say this whole reception is for
her?’
Since there was no word about Victoria this afternoon, Gavin had no interest in attending the reception tonight.
So Victoria is actually the Binder family’s long–lost heiress?‘ Gavin thought.
He was at a complete loss for words about how he felt right now.
Regret gnawed at him. ‘Why the hell did I have to break up with her?‘ Gavin thought.
If he hadn’t let his pride get the best of him and called it quits, Victoria would have been a perfect match for him, socially and in every other way.
There wouldn’t be any worries about them being a mismatch. She’d be the perfect match for him in every way.
“That must be your daughter speaking, right? She really carries herself well,” Preston said, pulling him back to reality.
Gavin had known Victoria for two years, and he knew just how captivating she could be.
Back then, she was just a country girl with medical skills.
But now, she was the Binder family’s heiress.
That meant he could marry her openly, with everyone’s approval.
‘Dad, I want to marry her!” Gavin blurted out, pointing straight at Victoria.
His words made Hector and Daisy, who had been chatting politely with Preston, freeze in their tracks and stare at Gavin in shock.
Once she realized what was happening, Daisy looked ready to defend her family, her voice cold as she asked, “Mr. Fairbank, who is this?”
Preston looked a bit embarrassed. “Like your daughter, he’s also someone I’ve only recently brought back into the family. But unlike her, he’s still figuring out the rules.”
He leaned in and scolded Gavin in a low voice, “Gavin, I brought you here tonight so you could meet some of the young heirs and heiresses in our circle. Why are you making a scene?”
But Gavin didn’t back down at all. “Dad, you said you wanted to make things right with me. You promised you’d agree to anything I wanted, as long as it wasn’t over the top. Well, here it is. I want to marry Victoria!”
Daisy’s face went completely cold, her usually gentle voice now sharp with anger. “Victoria already has a fiance, and even if she didn’t, you don’t get to decide who she marries!”
Gavin frowned. “What? Victoria already has a fiancé?”
Hector’s face darkened as well. “Mr. Fairbank, you really ought to teach your son some manners. Victoria is our precious daughter, and we won’t let anyone treat her like she’s less than she is!”
Preston kept apologizing.

Gerry glanced at his grandson Jackson. “Alright, you seem distracted. No need to stick around me. Go spend some time with your fiancée. I know she’s been on your mind, so go bond with her.”
Jackson gave a small smile. “Alright.”
With that, he wheeled himself over to Victoria, who was just a short distance away.
Just then, Cassian, who’d been silent all this time, finally spoke up. “Grandpa, maybe I should…”
Before he could finish, Gerry cut him off, his voice cold. “Yeah, go ahead. Go broaden your horizons.”
Cassian’s smile stiffened for a moment, but he kept his composure and replied respectfully, “Thank you, Grandpa.”
After that, Cassian shot a glance at his father, Kane Thornton. As soon as he turned away, his smile disappeared. He was seething inside, and to make matters worse, he could hear people gossiping nearby.
“Guess even with his legs paralyzed, Jackson’s still Gerry’s favorite,” someone whispered.
“Yeah Gerry’s bias is so obvious. Cassian was just trying to suck up and got totally ignored, kind of sad, honestly,” another person chuckled.
Cassian’s eyes grew cold. ‘Pathetic? Me? If anyone here deserves pity, it’s Jackson.’
“Is that your brother, Cassian, over there?” Victoria asked, pushing Jackson’s wheelchair as she gave a nonchalant glance at the young man mingling and laughing among the guests.
Jackson nodded. “Yeah.”
Victoria looked away, a thoughtful smile with a hint of amusement on her lips. “You two don’t really look much alike.”
Jackson grinned, “I’m definitely better looking than him, don’t you think?”
Victoria burst out laughing. “I’m trying to be serious, and here you are cracking jokes.”
At that, Jackson glanced over at Cassian mingling in the crowd, his tone growing more earnest. “Yeah, a lot of people say we don’t really look alike.”
“Doesn’t that ever make you suspicious?” Victoria arched an eyebrow, giving him a meaningful look.
