Soon enough, Curtis realized Victoria could really pull off ballroom dancing.

Not only was she good, but her moves were smooth and effortless, easily matching Angelica’s style.
No, actually, her dancing was even more stunning and light.
She looked like she belonged at these fancy events.
Curtis couldn’t help but be amazed. Right now, Victoria was graceful.
‘Could this really be the Victoria I’ve always known?‘ Curtis thought to himself.
Victoria was right there, just inches away from him.
She’d been back with the Binder family for days, but tonight was the first time Curtis really took a close look at his “sister.”
Her skin wasn’t as fair and delicate as Angelica’s, but aside from a slightly sun–kissed tone, it was just as
smooth and flawless.
Her eyes were incredibly bright, sparkling like stars in the night sky.
Earlier, when the lights were turned off to check whose gown was authentic, Curtis had already been taken aback by Victoria for a moment.
He had to admit he was surprised, but only a little!
But now, he felt that jolt again. ‘What’s going on with me?‘ Curtis wondered.
The laughter from the crowd faded away, replaced by gasps of awe. The scene before them was just too stunning to ignore.
Victoria’s gown was already the most eye–catching at the party, and now, with her mesmerizing dance moves, she was impossible to look away from.
“Alright, I have to admit, she totally fooled me!” someone whispered.
“From now on, I won’t dare look down on her again!” another person said.
“Curtis looks totally stunned! Bet he never thought all those times she stepped on his feet were just her messing with him!” someone else chimed in.
Angelica clenched her fists, jealousy burning inside. ‘How is Victoria, that country girl, able to dance ballroom so flawlessly?‘ she thought, unable to believe it.
Lost in her envy, she absentmindedly stepped on Cassian’s foot.
She quickly snapped out of it. “Sorry, Cassian,” she said.

What made it even worse was that nobody noticed her mistake, not even Cassian, who was completely focused on Victoria and didn’t even react to her apology.
Angelica bit her lip, unwilling to accept it, but she had no choice but to keep her frustration to herself.
Hector’s eyes widened in disbelief. “Daisy, did you teach Victoria to dance like that?” he asked.
Daisy shook her head, her eyes sparkling with surprise and pride. “I did teach her some basic etiquette and ballroom steps, but honestly, I thought there wasn’t enough time for her to get really good at it, so I didn’t focus on it much.”
Hector nodded, finally getting it. “So she already knew how to dance all along.”
Just then, Gerry spoke up, his voice full of praise. “Your daughter really is a pleasant surprise.”
Hector and Daisy couldn’t have been prouder.
Hector said, “Thanks for the compliment, Mr. Thornton. Victoria’s been through a lot out there, and seeing her turn out so amazing is something me and her mom never expected.”
Watching Victoria in the spotlight, Daisy’s eyes shimmered with tears of joy. “Victoria must have worked so hard to shine like this. She really deserves it.”
Meanwhile, at the far end of the room, Julia was feeling so sour and envious that she could barely stand it.
‘That’s my own daughter, the one I carried for nine months and brought into this world,‘ Julia thought. ‘But now everyone’s showering Hector and Daisy with praise, and they’re all looking at me with pity in their eyes!‘
With a disgruntled snort, Julia grabbed a few nuts from the table and started cracking them. “What’s so special about that? It’s just ballroom dancing. Angelica’s danced so much she’s sick of it already.”
Daisy took her eyes off Victoria and shot a cold, sarcastic look at Julia, who was clearly bitter. “Is it really that hard for you to admit Victoria’s amazing?”
She paused for a moment, then added, “Well, I guess if you admit Victoria’s talented, you’d have to admit you made a mistake, huh?”
Julia slammed the nuts onto the table. “Come on, Daisy, what are you saying? What did I do wrong? I never said I didn’t accept Victoria. She’s just so stubborn, always trying to drive Angelica out of the Binder family for good.”
Daisy didn’t even bother responding to Julia’s defensive rambling.
She could already see it coming. The more Victoria shone, the deeper Julia’s regret would grow.
‘If Julia and her family ever truly regret it and start begging Victoria to come back, would she really give them another chance?‘ Daisy wondered.
“Daisy, lost in thought again?” Hector’s gentle voice drifted to her ears.
Daisy gave a wry smile. “Hector, do you think I’m being selfish? As her mom, I’m always afraid that one day

Victoria might leave me.”
Hector smiled and said, “You just care too much. You have to trust Victoria. She didn’t accept us as her parents on a whim. She knows how much you love her and how much you care for her.”
Hearing that, Daisy slowly let go of her worries.
What she needed to do was be there for Victoria whenever she needed her, making up for the twenty years of motherly love she missed, instead of trying to keep her close forever.
A creeping sense of dread started gnawing at Darell. ‘What if Victoria actually meant it when she said she’d destroy our family’s business–not just blowing off steam?‘
“What’s up with Simon’s right foot?” Darell asked.
He’d been tied up with the pharmaceutical company these past couple of days and hadn’t been home, so it wasn’t until he saw Simon at the party that he noticed his limp.
Julia spat out a sunflower seed shell and said, “No idea. No matter how much we ask, he just won’t say a word.”
Darell frowned.
Ever since Victoria refused to acknowledge them as her family and instead accepted Hector and Daisy, whether they could secure the entire Binder family inheritance was no longer guaranteed.
With everything hanging in the balance, Darell couldn’t afford any mistakes. Tonight, he needed to sit down with Simon and get the real story on how Brightstar Entertainment was doing.
They danced song after song, and Curtis nearly tripped over his own feet trying to keep up with Victoria’s
pace.
Victoria’s teasing voice shot right into his ear. “Hey, Curtis, what’s up? Now that I’m actually taking it seriously, you can’t keep up?”
Curtis felt his cheeks burning with shame.
He snorted, refusing to admit defeat. “Don’t get cocky!”
Victoria scoffed, “I’m not showing off. Honestly, you’re just a little too slow for me.”
“Alright, I’ve had my moment in the spotlight. You’re not much use to me anymore. I’m done dancing. This is getting lame,” Victoria said, just letting go of his hand and walking off without even looking back, leaving Curtis standing there, completely stunned.
‘What the hell?‘ Curtis stared at Victoria’s retreating back, feeling so frustrated that it felt like he might explode.
Curtis realized with a mix of anger and disbelief. “That wild girl was just using me as her prop to steal the show!‘

Fuming, Curtis stormed back and dropped himself next to Simon, complaining, “Simon, do you know what Victoria just said to me? She actually called me weak. She totally looked down on me!”
Simon watched Victoria heading toward Jackson, and for some reason, he could just imagine Victoria’s tone when she called Curtis weak. He couldn’t help but laugh.
And he actually did laugh out loud.
By the time he realized it, Curtis was already staring at him in disbelief. “Simon, Victoria just dissed me, and you’re actually laughing?”
