Hearing Angelica’s confident, almost taunting words, Victoria just smiled. “Angelica, looks like that little performance really went to your head, huh? Already thinking about how to teach me? Too bad I don’t need it.”

As soon as she said that, the guests who’d been totally blown away by Angelica’s talent suddenly snapped back to reality.

Everyone murmured, “Looks like the real and fake heiresses are about to go head–to–head again.”

“This is getting good!”

“Man, this party was worth every minute!”

“Things are getting really interesting!”

Angelica kept her polite smile. “Victoria, is it that you don’t need my help, or are you already feeling like you’re out of your depth?

“If you think you don’t need to learn just because you’re back with the Binder family, that’s not a great mindset. Don’t sell yourself short. There’s always more to learn. Now that you have the chance to pick up new talents, why waste such a rare opportunity?

“But if you want to learn and just feel overwhelmed, I can start from the basics and teach you what I started learning when I was three.”

Angelica pointedly mentioned she’d begun learning at the age of three.

What she really meant was, with Victoria’s age and ability, she could only hope to reach the level Angelica had at three years old.

Victoria shot back, “I always thought that since you’re called the most talented girl in Benwig City, you must have some kind of jaw–dropping talent. But now I see, that title is probably just some small–time mutual back–patting in your social circle.”

Her words were so bold that a lot of the rich kids felt personally attacked. If even Angelica wasn’t considered talented, then what does that make the rest of us?

“She’s way too cocky!” someone muttered.

“Seriously, who gave her the guts to talk like that?” another chimed in.

“Obviously the Thornton family. Didn’t you see how Gerry was looking at her? He’s clearly happy with her as his future granddaughter–in–law,” someone else said.

“If Jackson wasn’t disabled, she’d actually have something to be proud of. Marrying the heir would give her real bragging rights. But now, with the Thornton family’s successor still up in the air, isn’t she worried that all this arrogance might just blow up in her face?” someone whispered.

At that, plenty of people cast furtive glances at Jackson, trying to gauge his reaction. But he didn’t show any of the reactions they’d anticipated.

Curtis couldn’t help but twitch his lips. “Here we go again! Victoria’s as savage with her words as ever!”

Simon stayed silent.

He knew better than anyone that Victoria wasn’t just vicious with her words; her actions were even more ruthless. She’d crippled his leg and even poisoned him to threaten him.

Angelica’s smile finally slipped. “Victoria, since you’re talking so big, you must have some real skills. Why not give us a little demonstration? Everyone’s dying to see what you can do.”

“Yeah, show off a bit! Let’s see if you’re really as amazing as you claim–better than Angelica!” someone called

out.

“Don’t go thinking you can brag just because it’s your welcome party and everyone’s cutting you some slack!” another added.

The usual crowd of rich kids who hung out with Angelica jumped in to back her up.

Victoria didn’t hold back. “Since everyone’s so eager to see what I can do, how about this? I’ll improvise a piece right here, on the spot, with the same level of difficulty as the world–famous piece Angelica just played, and then perform it for you all.”

Her words hit the crowd like a thunderclap, leaving everyone completely stunned.

“Did she just say what I think she said?” someone blurted out.

“She’s going to improvise a piece right now?” another person gasped.

“And it’s supposed to be just as hard as the one Angelica played?” someone else added.

“Either she’s lost her mind, or the whole world has,” someone whispered under their breath.

Curtis scoffed. “That’s a joke! She probably has no clue how legendary the piece Angelica just played is internationally. And she actually thinks she can whip up something just as tough on the spot? I’d love to see how she digs herself out of this one!”

Simon looked just as contemptuous. “She’s really gotten carried away with herself.”

Angelica retreated to her spot.

As she passed Victoria, she leaned in with a sly smile and whispered, “Victoria, you’d better put on a good show. Everyone’s watching. Don’t make a fool of yourself.”

Victoria shot her a sideways glance. “You should be the one worrying. With your so–called talent, maybe you should start learning how to farm with me. That way, when you get booted from the Binder family, at least you won’t starve.”

Angelica was speechless.

With everyone watching, Victoria strode over to the piano and took a seat, nonchalantly pushing up the sleeves of her evening dress. She looked nothing like the elegant Angelica from earlier. Her whole vibe was casual, almost defiant.

Instead of starting right away, Victoria closed her eyes, moved her hands as if playing invisible keys in the air, and softly hummed a tune to herself.

“Honestly, she does look like she’s actually making something up,” someone whispered.

“She’s just acting for the crowd,” another person scoffed.

“How long is this going to take? Are we just supposed to sit here and watch her do nothing?” someone grumbled.

Just as the crowd was starting to get impatient, Victoria opened her eyes. Gone was the laid–back attitude. Her gaze now burned with a fierce determination that made everyone sit up and take notice.

In the crowd, Jackson whipped out his phone again, aiming it right at Victoria as she sat at the piano.

‘These moments are gold,’ he thought. ‘Gotta save them all.’

Gavin wasn’t about to let Jackson steal the spotlight. He pulled out his phone and reached for his dad’s phone

too.

“Dad, let me borrow your phone,” Gavin said.

Preston frowned. “What are you up to now?”

Gavin shot back, “Just give it to me, okay? Am I not your son?”

Preston muttered, “If I’d known you’d turn out like this, I wouldn’t have bothered raising you! Should’ve just let you keep delivering takeout for a couple more years!”

Grumbling the whole time, he still handed his phone over to Gavin with a resigned sigh.

Gavin grabbed the phone, set it to record, and now had a phone in each hand, both cameras locked on Victoria.

When it came to Victoria, he wasn’t about to let Jackson, the guy with the busted legs, steal the spotlight from him.

As Victoria’s fingers danced across the piano keys, music began to fill the hall.

Everyone was bracing themselves for something spectacular, but to their shock, she played “Little Bunny,” a simple children’s tune.

Angelica’s friends started making a scene again, shouting and jeering from the crowd.

“Is she just screwing with us or what?” one of them yelled.

“Totally! She’s just playing games with us!” another chimed in.

Victoria didn’t even flinch at the jeers. She just kept her fingers dancing across the keys, totally focused, like nothing else in the world mattered.

As the last note rang out, the music stopped dead, and the whole hall went silent.

Three seconds ticked by in that heavy silence. Then, out of nowhere, the piano roared to life, crashing down like a thunderstorm, so intense and powerful that it left everyone in the room gasping for air.

It felt like they’d been thrown right into the middle of a wild, stormy ocean, stuck on a shaky little boat that could flip over any second.

Lightning crackled across the sky, thunder crashed all around, and their tiny boat was rocking so hard it seemed like it might go under at any moment.

Just when things were at their worst, a huge ship slowly appeared in the distance, heading straight for them.

Suddenly, hope lit up their faces. They started cheering, shouting over the roar of the storm.

After that tense, heart–pounding wait, the big ship finally made it safely to their side and stopped right in front of them.

A shadowy figure appeared at the bow of the ship, gazing down at them from above.

‘Is that an angel sent from heaven to save us?‘ they wondered.

Suddenly, everything changed. They found themselves sprawled across the deck of the massive ship, eyes brimming with tears as they watched the stormy sky slowly clear.

Sunlight streamed through the clouds, bathing them in warmth and filling their bodies with a comforting glow.
