Hector said, “Daisy, don’t worry. Victoria’s not like other girls. She knows what she wants. Since she made this decision herself, it means she’s ready to face whatever comes her way.
“And tonight, didn’t you notice how Jackson treated her? He was gentler and more caring than ever. Plus, Victoria told us she’s confident she can heal Jackson’s legs. Honestly, this marriage is a win–win for everyone.”
At her husband’s words, Daisy’s worries still lingered. She let out a soft sigh and said, “I’m just afraid Victoria is only Jackson’s fallback because of his disability. If his legs recover, will he regret choosing her? You can never really predict what’s in someone’s heart.”
Hector chuckled. “You saw it yourself tonight. Victoria is amazing. If Jackson ever regrets this, he’ll be kicking himself just like Darell and his family. I bet they’re all tossing and turning tonight, losing sleep over their bad decisions.”
Daisy finally relaxed, a small smile of relief appearing. “You’re right. Victoria is incredible. If Jackson doesn’t treasure her, he’ll be the one regretting it, just like Gavin. Now it’s too late for him to change anything.”
“Dad, what did you want to talk about?” Simon asked, limping after Darell to the backyard pavilion before sitting down.
Darell fixed his gaze on Simon’s right leg. “What happened to your leg?”
Simon, feeling guilty, avoided his father’s eyes and lied, “I was ambushed and beaten up in an abandoned factory. I haven’t found out who did it yet, but it’s probably an enemy.”
“An enemy? In Benwig City, there aren’t many who’d dare target you,” Darell said, eyeing Simon suspiciously.
Simon replied, “I’ll find out who did it as soon as possible.”
Darell’s frown deepened as he walked over. “Roll up your pant leg. Let me see.”
Simon’s face went pale as he finally told the truth. “Dad, there’s no need to look. My right leg isn’t just injured.
It’s ruined.”
Darell was jolted by those words.
“Ruined?!” he blurted out.
His eldest son just confessed that his right leg was crippled.
‘How is a crippled heir supposed to survive in Benwig City?‘ he wondered. ‘Even if he manages to accomplish something, people will always gossip, saying, ‘What a shame he’s a cripple
Even Jackson, who used to be the pride of the Thornton family, was dealing with the same mess now.
Darell’s voice rose sharply. “Tell me the truth! What really happened to your leg?”

“Deal with it? How? Can you fix a crippled leg?” Darell snapped. “You’re my son, the future heir of the Binder family! Your weakness reflects on the whole Binder family!”
Simon’s face turned even paler. “I know.”
Darell said coldly, “I’ll reach out to the best prosthetics experts overseas. They’ll get you a prosthetic for your right leg. It won’t affect your daily life. Don’t let anyone outside the family find out, or people will start talking.”
Simon nodded. “I understand.”
Darell clenched his fists so hard the veins on the back of his hands bulged. “Whoever dared to cripple you, once I find out who it is, I’ll make them pay with their life!”
Simon’s lips trembled. He didn’t dare say a word.
‘If Dad finds out it was Victoria who did this, would he really kill her?‘ Simon thought, his heart pounding.
He didn’t even want to think about it.
He wasn’t about to forgive Victoria, but he couldn’t bring himself to wish her dead.
“One more thing. Brightstar Entertainment hasn’t been pulling its weight lately. Got any ideas to fix that?” This was the second thing Darell was worried about tonight.
Simon explained his plan. “I’m having my team chase down the rights to a superstar author’s last novel. Every time her books get turned into a drama, it’s a smash hit.
“She’s holding a small meet–and–greet at the end of the month, and I’ll go myself. If I can snag the rights to her final book, we’ll have another blockbuster for sure.”
Darell’s expression stayed icy. “Alright, as long as you’ve got a plan. Things are different for the Binder family now. This time, you need to make something happen. Show your grandpa what you’re made of!
“You saw it at the party tonight, your little sister is no pushover. I’ve already told your mom to try and fix things with her. If she comes around and accepts us, great, everyone wins.
“But if she keeps fighting us and refuses to take the chance we’re giving her, then we need to be ready for the
worst.”
Simon frowned. “What do you mean by ‘the worst‘?”
Darell snorted. “Your sister told your mom straight up that she came back just to wreck our family’s business. So what do you think the worst–case scenario is?”
He paused, then added, “If she’s really getting ahead of herself, thinking she can take over the Binder family’s assets, there’s no way we’ll let her do whatever she wants in our family!”
‘Wait, Victoria really said that?‘ Simon thought, shocked. ‘She’s really out of line! Dad will never tolerate

After a moment of silence, Simon said, “I understand, Dad.”

“You three worked hard making that delivery for me today, so you get a bonus snack,” Victoria said after her shower, grabbing some freeze–dried spiders for her trio of little snakes.
The box of medicinal herbs she gifted Gerry had been secretly hauled over by those three.
After making sure they’d eaten their fill, Victoria sprawled out on her bed and stretched, feeling completely at
ease.
That evening gown was seriously exhausting to wear.
Honestly, she just wasn’t a fan of these fancy gatherings where everyone competed over custom couture. Life in the village was way better. She could wear whatever she wanted and just go for comfort.
Feeling totally relaxed, Victoria finally grabbed her phone from the nightstand. Not seeing any messages from Jackson, she figured he was probably still on his way home, so she decided to text him first. [Are you home yet?]
Thornton residence.
Sibley was bored out of her mind at home, so when she saw her dad and Cassian walk in, she hurried over.
“Dad, Cassian, you’re finally back! I was about to die of boredom all alone,” Sibley complained.
Sibley was supposed to go to the reception dinner. Her dad had already agreed. But right before they left, Jackson suggested to Gerry that it wasn’t a good idea to bring Sibley along.
After all, Sibley was just the adopted one.
And the Binder family’s true heiress, who had just been brought back, was already openly hostile toward the adopted daughter.
So, they decided not to let Sibley go and kill the vibe for the real heiress.
Gerry agreed, so Sibley’s dad, Kane, went to the reception dinner without her.
Sibley was absolutely furious. She’d been cursing Gerry and Jackson in her head a million times, wishing the old man and Jackson would just kick the bucket already.
Thinking about it, she glared at Jackson, who was about to leave through the front hall, and said sarcastically, “Jackson, you met the girl the Binder family just brought back tonight, right? So, what’s she like? Is she even good enough for you?”
