Chapter 60
Kane flinched, not daring to make another sound.
Sibley and Cassian lowered their heads, staying silent and not daring to interrupt.

Gerry kept it blunt, “Kane, you’re the most useless of all my kids. If you hadn’t married a capable wife and had such an outstanding son, you’d still be stuck going nowhere. You really think you’d have ended up living here
otherwise?”
This was the Thornton family’s estate that had been around for a hundred years.
Gerry only let the children and grandchildren he truly approved of move in, which basically meant he saw them as future heirs.
So Kane, Cassian, and Sibley were only able to live here because of Jackson.
At that, Gerry shot Sibley a frosty glare. “Jackson is the only heir I acknowledge for the Thornton family. If you disrespect him, you’re disrespecting all of us. Kane, you’d better figure out how to deal with Sibley yourself. Don’t force me to handle it.”
Sibley stared at Kane, panic in her eyes. “Dad…”
Under the crushing pressure, Kane clenched his jaw, steeling himself, and slapped Sibley hard across the face.
The slap rang out sharply, echoing through the night with extra force.
Sibley’s cheek immediately flushed red.
Her eyes brimmed with tears as she gazed at her father, looking pitiful and wronged.
Kane couldn’t stand seeing her like that, so he looked away, his voice harsh. “Sibley, go apologize to your big brother, now!”
Sibley covered her face, hesitated for a while, then reluctantly shuffled forward. She mumbled in a hoarse voice, “Jackson, I’m sorry. I messed up. I didn’t know the rules. Please forgive me just this once, okay?”
As she spoke, she leaned in, reaching for Jackson’s hand.
Jackson rolled his wheelchair back, dodging her touch, and smiled. “No need for that, kiddo. Honestly, I like you better when you’re all defiant. Hope you stay that way even after you’re out of the Thornton family.”
She trembled.
If she got kicked out, she’d lose her title as the third daughter and all the Thornton family’s protection.
Once she was out there, whatever happened to her, nobody would bother to look into it.
If Jackson wanted to go after her, he’d definitely take the opportunity.

Chapter 60
‘No, I can’t let them throw me out!‘ Sibley thought.
She glanced at Kane again, her eyes pleading for him to save her.

Kane tightened his fists and looked at Jackson. “Jackson, you’ve spent three years with Sibley, always treating her like your own sister. Are you really okay with kicking her out of the Thornton family?”
Jackson kept his gentle smile. “Dad, isn’t it a little late to ask me for mercy now? I already gave you a chance. If you’d corrected Sibley and punished her when she messed up, we wouldn’t be here.
“She’s just our adopted daughter. If she can’t even recognize her place anymore, then letting her leave isn’t a big deal.”
Seeing that Jackson wasn’t acknowledging him as his father at all. Kane clenched his fists even tighter.
The humiliation he felt today reminded him of those days when he had to bow to Jackson’s mother’s authority.
Back then, he’d just been a bit too friendly with a young woman at work, and Jackson’s mother had gone straight to her family.
Her whole family descended on their home, lecturing and warning him that if he ever dared betray his wife, they’d make sure he paid for it.
Now, his son was putting him through the same thing.
Sibley had only made a few sarcastic remarks, and Jackson blew it up to Gerry, determined to get Sibley kicked out of the Thornton family.
Jackson and his mother were cut from the same cloth. They always seemed to undermine his dignity.
Jackson continued, “Dad, you’re so reluctant to kick Sibley out. Don’t tell me… she’s actually your biological daughter?”
Panic flashed across Kane’s face, and he glared at Jackson, trying to cover up his panic. “Jackson, what nonsense are you talking about?”
Seeing how intense Kane’s reaction was, Jackson’s gaze turned a bit icy, but he kept his composure, still smiling. “Just kidding, Dad. No need to get upset.”
Gerry looked at Sibley with a cryptic expression, lost in his own thoughts.
Seeing how Jackson was acting. Kane realized there was no turning back. Sibley was definitely getting kicked out. Swallowing his humiliation, he told Cassian, “Cassian, you were the one who brought Sibley home, so now you take your sister and leave with her.”
Cassian turned to Jackson, pleading, “Jackson, are you really going to be this ruthless and throw Sibley out? Before I came back, she was the only one by my side. Without her, I probably wouldn’t have made it through those endless, miserable days out there.”
‘Honestly, this punishment is pretty mild. Want me to cut out her tongue instead? That way, she can stay in

the Thornton family and keep you company. How about it?” Jackson joked.
Sibley instantly clamped her hand over her mouth.

To Sibley, it sounded less like a joke and more like a threat, a warning that once she was out of the Thornton family, Jackson might really do something that cruel to her.
Cassian paused for a moment, then gave a helpless, bitter smile. “Alright, Jackson, since you’ve made up your mind, I get it. But it’s already so late. How about I send Sibley away tomorrow morning?”
Jackson cut him off coldly. “No. She leaves tonight. If she stays here, my anger won’t fade and I won’t get any sleep.”
Finally, he offered a suggestion, sounding almost thoughtful. “If you’re really worried about her, why not just leave with her tonight? Honestly, I wouldn’t mind if you went out there and took care of Sibley yourself.”
Cassian could only stare in silence.
He managed a strained smile. “You must be joking. Jackson. I’ll get Sibley out right now, so she won’t bother you or disturb your rest anymore.”
After saying that, Cassian turned to Sibley, reaching out his hand. “Come on.”
Sibley’s eyes were rimmed red, tears barely held back as she let Cassian take her hand and pull her away.
Kane’s face stayed grim the whole time.
Jackson said, “Dad, stop worrying about your adopted daughter out there. Maybe you should worry about yourself instead.”
Kane looked at him in shock. “Me? Wait, are you planning to punish me too?”
Jackson smiled. “Dad, you’re taking it too seriously. No matter what, you’re still my father. I wouldn’t punish you over something as trivial as not keeping your adopted daughter in check.
“When Sibley was part of the Thornton family, she had the same privileges as Cassian–I made sure she never lacked for anything.
“But now that she’s been kicked out, she’s cut off from the Thornton family’s money for good. I’m just worried you might sneak her some cash behind our backs.”
Jackson paused for a moment, then continued with a bright smile, “So from now on, Dad, you’ll have to start living a little leaner.
“I’m shutting down all your cards, and you’ll get a basic allowance every month. If you want anything extra, you’ll have to ask me directly and give me a solid reason.”
Kane was about to explode with rage.
“Jackson, you’re insulting me!” he snapped.
